Nice Video. I have this pedal, and have used it on recordings for bass - but that 70's smooth guitar tone you got was the real takeaway for me. I could see guitarists using this too.
I was drooling over this pedal some 20 yrs ago, but when I had saved up, and went to get it, the store owner told me they just got in a new pedal, Akai pro's Deep Impact -so I got that one instead :D Stil love it.
Motor City Guitar! Haven't been up there in a minute but it's a gem in metro Detroit. I'm from the East side 😉 Love the channel! Keep up the great content!!
@@MadeOnTape Hey, it's a bit newer but I've been diving into the Boss IR-200 pedal and putting everything I can in front or in the loop and just playing with sounds and tones. The thing is amazing. I'm mostly into recording gear and pedals (guitar\bass) but I've been diving in to drum machines a bit lately as well. Picked up a Drumbrute recently and now I want to chase down old analog 80's stuff cuz I miss it from my childhood.
Sounds great - I was looking forward to hearing you put it on vocals until you didn't! Many many moons ago, on a trip to Dublin, I tried one of these out in "Walton's Worlds of Music". I really wanted to buy it but I decided that it wouldn't be suited to either the country and folk music that I played with my father or the Weezer wanabee band that I was in with my friends from school - tough times.
you may have just inspired a quick follow up vid! ... it was crazy expensive at $200 in 2002 so I can see the hesitation... that receipt I mentioned? I edited out the part where i mention returning a different bass synth pedal that was like $70 ... I wish I remembered which one that was. I think Ibanez?
I am intrigued about how this thing works from a synthesizer perspective. Like, it seems to sync pitch and trigger for the incoming audio, but it substitutes the incoming sound wave for an internal oscillator? Does it blend the sound sources or is it just the pedal that goes out? You have some envelope control on there, but still it follows the way you play on the instruments, so how the hell does that work? The oscillator sounds pretty good actually, why don't you hook it up to a 303 or some other bass synth/sequencer and see what it does.
I play with my SYB-3 since it came out in 1996, with drum machines ( ruclips.net/video/_H-XVGiUlN8/видео.html ) or bass guitar ( on my second RUclips channel : ruclips.net/video/YfyJRYAJls4/видео.html ) or keyboards. It's a good Roland-SH_like sound, love it, fav' synth. :) With a BOSS Delay pedal
Boss should pay you for demonstrating their product's capabilities this well lol
let's spam their inboxes hahaha
truly appreciate it
Love recording onto my 4 channel cassette studio. Blows the sound of digital away.
it's such an instant vibe-machine
Damn the drums where actually pretty good. Didn't expect that
i love filtered drums/drum machine. can really bring out a vibe

Resonance is the amount of emphasis at the filter cutoff frequency. Nice video.👍
i almost corrected myself during my edit hahaha
do you synth often?
@@MadeOnTape
As often as possible, but it’s a busy world, haha
I just gotta say, as a big gear nerd, this is becoming my new favorite channels. Keep doing what you do!
yo! that means a lot! what gear have you been nerding on lately?

I got the SYB-5. it s pretty interesting. I play guitar and it works well on most of the fretboard.
curious what the difference is between that and the SYB-3? thanks for watching!
@@MadeOnTape No idea about the relevant changes they made, man. It was what was available when I wanted a bass synth for guitar. ;)

Uau. Awesome

Senssacional parabéns ótimo vídeo
many thanks for watching 🙏🏻🙌🏻
Sounds like an early 90s SEGA game. And that’s a compliment.
oh heck yes thank you! i remember Sonic 😬
That's aswome. For real.
the last four modes are the most musical, but there are some wacky sounds in the first 7
Mmm,may have to get 1
i think they’re unpopular so shouldn’t be hard! i paid like $200 in 2002 money when it was new 😬
Nice.
yo thanks for listening 🙏🏻🤘🏻

“I haven’t played this pedal in 20 years” - everyone who owns an SYB-3 😢
hahaha 😂 😭

I kind of regret selling this pedal now. I'm starting to think I didn't give it a fair chance.
it’s tough in a lot of positions but certain modes are very fun
can u do something with the SYB-5 as well?
if i get my hands on one id like to! is it much different from the SYB-3?
@@MadeOnTape i wonder.. i thought a higher number would be newer and better, but after researching the webz i still have no clue :P
