No doubt the best performance of this absolutely sublime cantique composed by the young Gabriel Faure to be found on YT. The tenor, bass, alto, and soprano voices are all clear, rich, and beautifully sung. The harmonies send shivers down the spine of the listener, which is so fitting for this piece.
Of the more than 50 (?) performances I know this is the absolute top for me. It could not have been more simple; one person per voice, no orchestra. I have listened to many performances with orchestras, great choirs and really beautiful additions like a clarinet, but this very basic version beats all. It really made me cry.
