Thank you Michelle & Dave.😊Thankful for this program and all the helpful info… I always appreciate you both! Blessed New Year’s greetings from Michigan! 🕊️💕💕
Thank you for the encouragement, Elaine. God bless you and your family from my family here in Oregon to your family in Michigan! Happy New Year also! -Dave
Hi Dave, I can confirm at least as of 2019 that there is no prohibition on pastors at Passion. I’m 42 but I was saved in 2017 at a “Baptocostal“ church and our pastor would take a dozen or so of the church youth down to passion every year and they would work the doors and then attend for free. I am now at a reformed Baptist Church, and he is no longer a pastor.
Matt, thank you for this comment and for letting me know there was as of 2019 no prohibition on pastors. I read that online and thought wow that is really concerning. I hope they still have that policy. I'm also glad you are now at a Reformed Baptist church!
Part 2, Dave, you & Michelle did a great job of analyzing and sharing. Your example of not attending Piper at the G3, so there wasn't possible association....because you guard yourself & your ministry. EXCELLENT. My point above, is he should Not even be at a G3 conference, if he is repeatedly saying & doing biblically questionable things that will lead people astray.
Thank you, sister. Just to clarify I was talking about the Shepherds Conference in the episode. Hopefully I was clear about that, but if not, I meant the Shepherds Conference and why I didn't go to Piper's session. I agree with you about him not speaking at G3 also, although I'm not speaking for G3 either (which I think is important to say because I'm a G3 Press author).
Here's my question...when John Piper speaks at these unsound conferences.....is he speaking the Word without compromise? If not, then he should Not be considered a biblically sound pastor, and No longer recommended by Sound pastors & teachers. It seems that excuses are being made for him, in general, because he's been around a long time & may have been sound at one time. If there is repeatedly compromise, we need to be warned.
Cindy, I'm not really sure because I don't pay attention as much to John Piper anymore, so I couldn't speak to the fact that he is preaching the Word without compromise. I would like to believe he is, but I can't say with full assurance to you that he is or isn't. I know from my past experience with listening and reading his content, he always desires to be rigorously biblical in his preaching of the Word, so on that basis I think it is fair to say he likely is, but I can't say definitively he is. But I would say one thing as a word of caution about that particular comment you made. Francis Chan had the same desire to "preach the Word" at these conferences but he has gone very far away from being solid and preached at Bethel Church and many other places he shouldn't. I think it if you are going to actually go and preach the Word at these places, I wouldn't have a problem with explanation that follows that also counters why I wouldn't do it. The problem is those who say they are going to preach the Word don't or become so influenced by these false teachers (like Chan) that they end up going towards the false teachers and adopting their doctrine and philosophy of ministry. That's why I think it isn't wise to go into these places and preach and why I would never do it even though they wouldn't ever get me to compromise no matter what. I'm 100 percent committed to being faithful and accountable to many others to that end. I agree with you though that there are excuses made for him like you said he's been around a long-time. And it isn't even just with the Passion it's Acts 29 and TGC and other places he also speaks at that are concerning. I get wanting to speak into those places and more but it's all concerning and doesn't reflect the kind of stateman type godly leadership he should have that reflects a sound understanding of biblical truth and biblical witness. -Dave
Thank you, being in the NAR for over 20 years, I stay away from all those people. They are very popular in the NAR. Well John Piper wasn't but I didn't know who he was until I got out of the NAR. I have never listened to his teaching however. They would tell you to not listen to people like John MacArthur because he's only theology and no spirit. They say they are dead and to stay away. Well that's what we were told anyways. They would also tell us to check our brains at the door when we went to church. We had to listen to what the "spirit" said and be led by him.
I appreciate you sharing Marlene. I can confirm what you said about John MacArthur because I hear those same things almost daily, sometimes more than almost half a dozen times a day. I'm glad you stay away from all these people. This was one of those things that I researched it I was SHOCKED by how bad it is. I knew it was bad, but Michelle and I only scratched the surface in this episode as I tried to say in the episode "this is an overview" of the issues on Passion. I appreciate your comment and for sharing your thoughts, and experience, Marlene! -Dave
@@Servantsofgrace I'm so thankful to be out. It was the Strange Fire Conference that helped open my eyes to the deception I was so entrenched in. Clouds without water was also a blessing that I stumbled onto because I heard Justin Peters in the Strange Fire Conference. It has taken me years to unravel so much false teaching. I am still learning from the Bible and from wonderful ministries like yours and Michelle's. Thank you
I'm really glad to hear that, Marlene! Justin is a blessing also. He contributes to Contending for Word on occasion. I'm thankful to hear how you are learning and growing in the Lord. Truthfully, we are all learning and growing no matter how old or long we have been in Christ or what education we have. God's Word is our standard and measure. I'm thankful you find me and Michelle helpful. All glory be to Christ! God bless you. Dave
Not me trying to count my stitches when Dave starts saying a bunch of numbers 😂 On a serious note, thank you both for talking about this. The youth are being targeted by false teachers. We must guide them in the truth, and we must do our part to protect the Church from deception.
Years ago Michelle was so helpful to me when I saw our church ladies using questionable material. Love hearing her speak.
I'm so thankful to hear she was helpful to you! Thank you for sharing. -Dave

HAHAA! I always have "fun" editing myself and realizing how many mistakes I make LOL! :) Amen! Thank you for those words, Susie! You're right! -Dave
