half the kids in doing this drill are probably getting a minor concussion at least.. Even if they aren't, it's the accumulation of small hits to the head that will cause long term brain damage.
@@banneduser9437 kinda wrong there bro, that’s why the defense is taught to read plays all week before games. You see a run, it’s full speed from both sides.
This drill teaches you the true nature of the game of football. Which is to dominate other human beings with violence. If you don't teach people to hit aggressively, the experience of the player is altered. This knee-jerk reaction to the issue of concussions can backfire on you because you produce a generation of players that you think are safer, but they lack the experience that comes with actually knowing how a violent collision is supposed to be executed. You wind up with highly skilled players that don't know how to hit...
ive said this for awhile the amount of concussions now is insane and people getting hit and not being able to get up and walk for a couple mins. you would think with the advancements in helmets over 20 years would help but it hasnt. these drills are not used nowadays so players cant condition themselves to take hits like this. You hit it spot on with your comment
This drill was always unfair for the dbs. You can't cut the rb down and he gets to come with a full head of steam. Which is why its so enjoyable to see reps like at 1:00
I have a love-hate for this drill. I love it because of the intensity and attitude it had brung when I played. But I hated it because the offense has a huge advantage since the running back can choose which side to run through while going full speed while the linebacker has to get held back, thus coming in with less momentum than the running back by the time he picked which side to run through.

I'm looking forward to this season. It could be very special. Go Bruins. The school I couldn't afford to go to and got kicked out of for sitting in on classes. The security was kind enough to let me leave with the test I got an A on.
As a kid in 5th grade I knew it couldn’t be good for it to be a common practice amongst teammates to take ibuprofen before practice and games. Now I realize, we were getting concussions over and over.
in pee wee league, jr high and high school football we called this exact same exercise done slightly different, Dead Mans Alley and that was 30 years ago
We did that back in 8 th grade in the 70’s. Nothing new. We were doing...........What was I talking about again?. Somebody answer that damn phone. It’s been ringing since the 70’s
We did this exact drill in high school every Thursday to close our practices. I used to hate it though cause I was a tall WR (aka big target) and you're not allowed to juke so I'd basically get blown up by a LB or DB every time lol. It sucked. But it's a great team-building exercise and everybody gets pumped up by it so it was all good.
And then the guy jumps over you. You dunno anything about football man, it won’t hurt your head if you tackle right and Not with the head. Tackle with your head on the side and with the shoulder, and you’ll bury the guy. Tackle using “Crown” of your helmet which is illegal and you’ll probably get problems, other than that, it’s safe!!!! This is awesome but dangerous because everyone is hyped up and cracking the shit outta each other. That's a lot of free space between your line backer and ball runner, both at full speed hitting and doing multiple reps, someone is gonna go down eventually. But if you can survive it, theres no better drill. To keep the players healthy, I'd say cheat them up a few yards on both side or widen the lane. In game situations, backs are typically gonna juke instead of Alstott that shit.
Bro it’s un fair for the linebackers dbs because there being held and the running back is running full speed and he some how has to stop him with just 2 steps

gum be my baby
More room to either truck someone or get smacked
