      Right ? You can even see some of the twist pattern if you pay close attention, to when the metal is squished and the scale falls off.

      Yeah, that wavy pattern is chef’s kiss! Would be ABSOLUTELY COOL to see one of those wavy stiletto blades with that pattern. ❤️👍

    I must say guys. This has to be one of, if not the most beautiful knife making video Iv ever seen. The shots on the Forging Press are stunning, felt like watching a Christopher Nolan film, honestly had me feeling things, beautiful beautiful work guys.       @@MadebyKourmoulis is this meant to be a joke? I’m not exactly sure how to take it. I saw that vid a couple weeks ago, thought it was a bit lazy for Alec, think we’re all still mourning Will’s leaving. Jamie and Alec make stunning videos though, I was gonna mention them but they’re channels kinda night and day compared to the mastery of MS Royer, but.. the final episode of Alec and Jamie Kris blade is at the top of the list along with this video, my favourite knife making videos, easy. Both are amazing craftsmen and make absolutely stunning pieces.

      @@MadebyKourmoulis Absolutely! I quite like the trial and error attitude Alec Steele has, I enjoy his failures just as much as his successes, it’s a beautiful journey to go along. Jamie, the guy who films his channel is a beast, I love how they match the power hammer strikes to the music that’s playing, have seen it on lots of channels but I think he does it the best.
      I’ll go back and watch the chainsaw video again. Thanks for the tip.
      I only discovered Kyle’s channel about 2 years ago. N I’m blown away, if they did knife-making RUclipsrs awards, Kyle would steal the show for sure. It’s crazy how talented he is, real Artist with the steel. A proper treat to watch him work.

      @@keiphillips7648 trial and error can be fun to watch but it's not so fun to take part in. I had an eye on a tomahawk split on me this morning while I was drifting it. Making scrap by hand stinks ha ha.
      I would agree Kyle is probably the best knife maker out there.

    I don’t know what it is, but the playfully ‘dorky’ double-hand waving “BAH BYE” is one of my favorite parts of the videos. Hahaha love ALL the content that your family puts out and you have so MASSIVELY inspired me. Heck, I’ll be spending over $50,000 this year alone on building a shop and getting all the tooling I need to get going. I’m so thankful for the amazing instruction in Knifemaker Plus.     Always pushing the boundaries, never resting on your laurels, always seeking to improve, even after seemingly reaching the peak, these things are easier said than done. This is what makes you the best of the best, at what you do. I have never seen a Bladesmith with your combined work ethic, attention to detail, drive and talent. There are a great many skilled blacksmiths and bladesmiths out there, but I genuinely cannot think of any other better than you.

    Long ago I was tickled proud with my first forge weld. Videos and excellent knife makers abound. The videography makes this NOT just another knife/forging video. I watch them all regardless.

    That is a pretty cool pattern. I have seen wrought-iron fences use that pattern of interrupted twists before but never thought about using it to make damascus.

    FINALLY YOU ARE TIGn THAT THING UP! As a welder i just dont understand why not! Ive seen some ppl TIG when they forge but the majority MIG and ive no idea why. The sheet metal thing i can understand in SOME circumstances but mostly even that is eluding me

    Like the pattern, sort of reminds me of water ripples on a pond, when you throw stones in it and the ripples cross one another and make circular patterns. Very cool. 👍👍👍

    You had me at slow super close forge welding, just seeing the crystal structures in the metal realign as the pressure of the press comes down. More of that but in 4K slow mo. Yum.

      Also that second layout pattern reminds me of like a plank of timber where you can see the plant structures/layers of the tree it was made from. Very cool.

    Thats gona look sweet when finished. If you can get a large tapping handle , used to hold taps for threading. it will help you with twisting instead of using shifters. Some of them can take over 1 inch square stock .

    Damascus looks awesome!, noticed on your holland anvil the edges are quite sharp, id recommend putting a radius on those to prevent them from digging into your work

    As usual an amazing job. I think a jig could give you more consistency in your billets. Maybe a twisting jig with a rail beside it. In the rail you could drill holes that fit the nozzle of your torch at regular intervals.

    I always thought of the idea of making damascus like rings on a tree so you would make round stock then just like the sawyer you can pick grain patterns as you cut or grind.

    I will say it again that this guy know Damascus steel like the back of his hand. Keep it up Kyle. Maybe next sword build you make could use twist bars. Very old and common technique for many Anglo-Saxon and Viking swords.

    Seems like a take on Anglo-Saxon welding patterns. I remember several Jake Powning swords having what he described as "alternating twist" that were similar to what you're going for. It has a really attractive look for the core of a sword, I'm excited to see what you do with the idea.
