This show is like a roller coaster ride. I haven't seen it in 30 years and like a good book, I can't put the computer down. Better than ANYTHING we have here in the States now. Nostalgia is a beautiful thing!!
Bonnie - I have always believed this is the greatest drama I have ever seen. You get immersed in the world and its time and the storytelling is second to none. It needs wider and greater recognition.
I find it the same as a bad lifetime movie. So bad it's funny.
Awesome comment ..I watch all 692 episodes over and over from time to time..but I found just diving into any episode will get you hooked within 5 minutes of watching this beautifully written series that has won so many awards it's a miracle .. 🙏,Without my Lizzie and Bea and Doreen and Judy .even the screws. 😆.!nothing short of genius . A true Australian Treasure!!

Adele Steele that was the whole point. Evelyn knew exactly what she was doing.
Adele Steele Evelyn gave her some stuff made of stuff Lizzie brought in. Sid originally gave the stuff to Lizzie. Evelyn then poisoned everyone with her stuff. The doctors stuff didn't work until he knew what stuff Evelyn used to poisoned everyone with. It was all an evil scheem so that Evelyn could proclaim that her stuff was the best stuff.
well said that's a lot of stuff and not all good stuff guess it depends on the quality of the stuff and I think evelyn is going to be told to get stuffed

Her first lez relationship was with her teacher. So, I think she's just stuck in that May/Nov theme.

Anne was a LOONY TOON. Pixie is the same age as Anne and Judy had the hots for her too.
Erica is just beyond me at times. As governor she should have been far more proactive and fully anticipated the women would seek their revenge. To remain fair, all she had to do was have her put in isolation till she was transferred to Barnhurst. That said, I've no sympathy for Evelyn because she got exactly what she deserved after putting them through all that unnecessary pain and discomfort. I think David deserves much credit for taking the extra time and effort to get to the bottom of Georgina's problem. If it had been left up to authority then she would have just rotted in solitary forever more. I wonder why I'm not surprised.......

About time Evelyn got some payback
Erica and Meg thinking Georgie gave Judy some sort of encouragement? Georgie is 19 and saw Judy as a mother figure and more gentle than her own mother, that was a bad move when Judy just forced kissed her on the lips, that was just wrong, don't blame Georgie for reacting the way she did. That was predatory behavior by Judy.
I'm gay . And I agree. But those were the times we lived through it was hard to know who was or wasn't gay cuz the 80's was a complete time of fun lowest prices in history ,.we had everything until they fucked it all up

Loving rewatching this series again after it was first released. Brings back so many great memories.

Evelyn Randall - one of Wentworth's finest. Great plotline which made her seem friendly and liked by the inmates first of all, until her pollen on the food stunt. These episodes were churned out rapidly as with many soap operas of the time so it is not surprising if there are some slight inacuracies or clunky moments of dialogue. What was remarkable was the over all consistency of the fine acting. Well done all!

The people who got the poison that Lizzie was accused of, died. That's why the difference is sentence.
Manslaughter as a pose to Murder.... if you unintentionally kill someone a sentence can be suspended or months instead of years for manslaughter. Murder carries year which is what Lizzie got!!
In Evelyn’s case they said her patient took the medication against her advise, which means she didn’t kill her intentionally but her actions caused a death.Lizzie’s sentence waS very harsh but they deem she had killed multiple men by poisoning them.
Bea recovered mighty quick the was at deaths door a matter of hours ago
Christopher Thom Evelyn planned it that way--she knew what she was doing and she said all along that she would have them better in no time--even though Bea had the chemical version over the plant based

This show isn't showing lesbians in a good light. The eighties was a time where things began to change. Its a very seventies view of lesbianism. Judy was quite a revolutionary character.

I seen something yellow in Georgie’s ear when she had her first visit in the garden with Mike. I thought she just had a speech impediment. Later it came out that she is hearing impaired. It had to have been a hearing aid. She must be in real life. Good for her for using her disability to her advantage and making a career out of it.

I discovered the remake WentWorth first. At age 42F….Cellblock is a little before my time. After getting my mom into WentWorth, she is the one who found Cellblock H and told me I had to watch it. So this is my first time seeing it. When George was in the garden for her visit with Mike I noticed something yellow in one of her ears. For a quick second I thought it was a microphone but I’d never seen a mic on anyone else before. So then it hit me. She’s must be partly deaf and that’s why she speaks like that. I had just assumed she has some kinda speech impediment. But that was episodes before Mr.Andrews discovered she actually was hearing impaired. I’m just watching him suggest it now for the first time. I have no idea if they introduce a hearing aid for Georgina later on in the show yet. Nor who the actress is that plays her. So she must actually be hearing impaired in real life. Good for her for following her dreams and not allowing her disability to get in the way. She looks pretty young. I hope she had a successful and fulfilling career!
Erica and Meg say that Judy is not predatory. I disagree. She's definitely predatory. As a lesbian myself, it is very frustrating to see the writers continually portray her character as predatory when a new young piece enters Wentworth. Small & close-minded homophobic folk see one like that, they end up deciding we're all like that. I am in my late 40's and would never date anyone anymore than 5 years younger than myself. Judy Bryant's character is bad news for the rest of the lesbian community.
Jude was a lesbo in real life. She was involved with another woman for the last 30 plus years of her life.
I don’t condone Judy’s interest in someone so much younger. But I can’t imagine she has much choice back then, especially in prison. She also mistook Georgie’s behavior towards her. Like running around half naked.

Why don't the guards and Mrs. Davidson do a proper investigation before just throwing the innocent prisoners into solitaire? 1 of the guards I hope speak up that the prisoner threw that sweater in the garbage. How can grown women not think of the dangers doing the candle thing couldn't kill or maim someone? Plus they could have caused a massive fire in the prison then what?

Evelyn should've smelled the terpintine and candle burning as soon as he entered her cell, not after she changed and was ready for bed. Bea, Lizzie and Judy were with Evelyn when the Reporter through her pink sweater into the dumpster. The fight distraction up on the hill pulled 2 screws, Jim and Vera away. So who went into the dumpster for the pink sweater or maybe the reporter never through it away. How was a candle allowed in the prison? Why wasn't terpintine locked up in an outside secured maintainence shed ? Looked like Bea's shoes of the person who put the candle, terps and sweater under Evelyn's bed.
It was Lil doing Bea’s dirty work.
Might have made the candles. Not unknown for prisoners to do it.
Thank goodness things have changed now and they do that hearing tests on babies within their first three months of birth
