Val Lehman, AKA Bea Smith, had me in tears in recent episodes. Such a brilliant actor.
Lizzie’s mind has been criminalized to the point that she can’t comprehend Bea not trying to “get one over” on the screws.
absolutely brilliant acting from val lehman (bea) hats off to her :)
I can only assume you've never seen good acting.
She was OK here, but her performance was stupidly OTT and melodramatic...even for a cory soap like this.
Val's commendable! You can always count on top-notch performances by her.
I love this show ❤
This amnesia storyline has really punched some life into this show. I have been so gripped by episodes 200 and 201 that I cannot remember anything that happened before that. See what I did there? ;) hehe. Val sure hit the mark bringing this bit of genius to the story table.
27th February 2023.
Val’s acting is so believable and almost real it’s so good.
It's all in the research!
Good ol mum ❤ Mary ward who played her is still going strong and will be turning 103 on the 6th of March long live mum ❤❤❤
how horrible to wake up one day to find that your family is dead and you are a murderer
To lose your husband and daughter once is horrible, to lose them twice is unimaginable.
Val’s acting is superb gives me goosebumps during the scene where she freaks out over what she did to margo you also realise to It was Val’s idea for her character to have amnesia
By God Val's acting is AMAZING!!!
The High Priestess Er- no.
Lamp Shade Why would you say that?
I just think, in my opinion, that she has simply acted her character in a non-Bea way that we're used to seeing. Normally, she acts all tough and bossy. By acting this way, she just simply isn't acting bossy. It might come across to some viewers as being an example of great acting, but in my opinion it's just an easy way to convey two different sides of a character- because it is one extreme to another. We can all do that ourselves just by living. I appreciate better acting skills by witnessing an actor conveying lots of different emotions. I just don't see that here with Bea. Again, just my opinion :)
Not that it matters, but I work in theatre as a stage actress :)
Over acting, in my humble opinion...too hysterical.
Agree, subtle is always better, I find her acting a little hysterical, to be truthful. I enjoyed the scene in the previous episode where she said if anyone touched her she would kill them or words to that effect. Then she calmly walked back to the sewing machine. A great scene, conveyed a lot of drama.
What a brilliant actress Val Lehman is.
Here here
Mum was such asset for this storyline, the strong woman vibe makes it feel like its before its time, lizzie is just amazing
"And not a malingerer" (my fave Priz line)
Lehman is stunning, it's kinda a shame, in retrospect, that this story didn't go on much longer...
Has Bea looked at a newspaper yet? Has she seen a news broadcast featuring the current prime minister? Has it occurred to anybody to ask her what year Debbie was born and then show her a newspaper with today's date on - proving Debbie cannot be eight years old? So many plot holes!
Simon Good advice.
It seems that everyone has forgotten that Bea was involved in a car accident which was bad enough to put one of the passengers in a coma and kill the driver (I think, correct me if I'm wrong), but yet they find it very hard to believe that Bea has amnesia??!
Lizzie is a little senile and or drunk, Doreen is dumber than a rock, Vera is such a spiteful cow she's beyond thinking logic, and Davo is so gullible she'll fall for the smallest of suspicions.
Being screws and crims, they of course would have difficulty believing anyone who suddenly can't remember who she is or what she did, etc.
One officer in a coma and one killed yet they don't even connect the 2 🤦
Val is a great actress.
I miss Queen Bea. I want her back!
Every time Meg or Bob says “Darling “ take a drink 🥃. The game gets more interesting with each passing episode.
Bev & Lil switch sides so often, it's enough to give you whiplash!
Meg's so damned cute sometimes.
Margo will deserve a good thumping if Mum dies..
Mum Brooks was one of the nicest characters in this show. She left the Women $20,000 in her will when she died.
I did t know that. How beautiful😊
@@garygarecaplin Yes but a couple of the other prisoners were greedy after hearing about the money 💰🤑
She was amongst the best people to appear in every episode
@@julabard she didn't appear in every episode. She was at the start of episode one up until 203. but In-between the 100 odd episodes she was nowhere to be seen, as after her granddaughter had the baby she remained out of scenes until beas amnesia storyline then that was her final appearance.
In real life , she died aged over 100
Val is a brilliant actress
Did the character Bea not fake the amnesia for a while after recovering from it
@@josephmullin5845 Yes, that’s right. 😃
Brilliant performance from Val Lehman 👏
He looks about 15 years too old to be vandalising phone boxes.
Oh no! Not Nick Clarke - he's nearly as much of a pain as Bob
That Nick is a cheeky sod. He calls Meg to get him out of the police station and then whines on just because she won't let him stay with her and tries to guilt trip her for having a private life. What does he think she is - a 24 hour call service? Meg should have left him to cool down overnight in the lock-up.
Watching prisoner third time round since a teenager meg Morris is a good actress I think one of the best through out the episodes till the end.well done meg😊
Bob: "Now you're not bringing your problems home from work again.... And you haven't forgotten that I've got two business colleagues for dinner?"
Meg: "No, no, I haven't. It's all on the desk calendar there. Eight p.m. Bob plus two for dinner. Business."
And don't forget to tell them where you and Bob met. Oh, and put some lovely elevator music on the stereo. And wear your best living room drapes dress--the blue one.
double standard much? :-/ fk u bob
He's a terrible character that Bob - and a bloody awful actor I reckon
What happened to Fletch' compassion towards elderly ladies? He's being horrible towards Mum.
His compassion towards elderly ladies seems pretty selective. He's always miserable towards Lizzie, too
Fletch is lead by Little Jim, if he's happy then Fletch is.
@@daviddemarco8327 I think it’s also because Lizzie can be devious compared to her late friend, Edith over 150 episodes ago. 😃
@@daviddemarco8327 He's not always miserable to Lizzie. He's frequently seen shaking his head in amused exasperation at her antics. You don't see that reaction from him for anyone else.
Vera also had a soft spot for Lizzie too, as is shown in a few episodes. You only ever see her like that with Lizzie never any of the other women. Plus Vera called Mum 'Mum' not Brooks.
Mum Brooks is a bad ass.
Nick doesn't look like a kid. He looks like a grown man
What made no sense with this storyline is why they would not have brought in a medical doctor to examine Bea. She was in an accident where the officer was seriously injured and the driver was either injured or killed. Amnesia caused by a head injury is a medical condition not a psychiatric condition.
Before watching this storyline on Prisoner, my favorite soap was the first season of Peyton Place back in 1964-65. I didn't think anything could top that but this is just as good
Me as well! ❤
Mary ward is now 105 years old as of dec 2020....
Has nobody noticed Bea hasn't had a smoke-o since the Amnesia incident? That's one way to quit smoking isn't it? Maybe if Lizzie took her to the pub to see her Husband's ghost she'd remember sooner! ;)
Smith’s gone from a 100 cigs a day habit to nothing overnight! There’s hope for Lizzie to quit yet
Bob doesn't deserve someone as good as Meg for a wife. He won't be happy until he has her at home all day chained to the kitchen sink with nothing else to think about but preparing meals for his precious business associates. He couldn't care a less about what Meg wants or what makes her happy, just as long as his clients are pampered like kings and queens! Jim showed in this episode how much of an ignorant swine he really is...... Dismissing Bea's amnesia as a pack of lies when he isn't qualified to judge just proves that he is no better than Vera! Terry believes she is genuine and he has based that decision on his own intuition, an example his colleagues would do well to follow suit on.
Love your comments !!
Chris.C Thanks.
Great comment :)
I always wanted to see meg get with Paul Reid. He would of been so much better for her than selfish, greedy Bob. As for Jim and Vera, yes they are very similar but I think that Vera is still worse out of the 2!
Carlene Boulden Yes, I felt that way about Meg and Paul too. I think many viewers would have liked that scenario to have unfolded. Unfortunately, George Mallaby (Paul Reid) had to depart the show rather swiftly due to ill health, otherwise the seeds were sown for that theory to have transpired. I agree Vera was worse than Jim. Jim had his moments but he mellowed from time to time, where as Vera was an obnoxious, heartless bitch through and through with the prisoners.
Amazing performance from Val. Very dramatic episode.
Oh my goodness, it's Nick! "I hate you, Meg! I hate you! I hate you aaaaaaaalllllllllllll!" His acting doesn't seem quite so bad in this episode.
val as bea was awesome did such an amazing job playing her
Lizzie referring to Bea as loose in the top storey 😂😅😂
It's nice to Stan Butler from on the busses working in Wentworth as an prison officer.
What a fantastic actress val is as bea
The actor who played nick Clark's dad had at least 2 other roles: the governor of Woodridge and Rabbit Warrens dad.
He also played Janet Dominguez corrupt solicitor if I remember rightly
Val Lehman did such a great job in this storyline. i've always been impressed by some of these characters and actresses. on how believable and how easily you can get touched by them. i've cried several times for feeling sorry about Doreen. xD though i have noticed i havent really seen a real fight by a topdog. it's mostly them grabbing the other or slapping. xD
Even though I find it difficult to associate the new "Wentworth" remake of the show with the original, (the characters & situations are so far removed from PCBH, it's unreal), the fight for top-dog in the latest episode between Bea & Frankie was almost too real. It was vicious, violent & very bloody, there was a warning on the TV beforehand that viewers might find it disturbing
Bob & Meg kissing answer : fast forward
Especially that scene when she mounts Bob....
Ugh
Another brilliant episode, with great philosophical import!
Margo isn't that bright, picking on Mum. She must know what Bea will do to her once her memory returns.
Vera says she knows bea a lot longer but wouldn’t she notice she was strange??? Hmmm
30:55 - Subtle but magnificent camera work. Refocusing while the camera moves forward - it's a great effect.
It was a great scene.
4:40 Margo's Marlon Brando Godfather impression
Val Lehman is a superb actress
Is it me or does Margo behave like a naughty little boy.. lol
@ 31:00 - the director was being ambitious with that “dolly/zoom” effect.
Mrs. Barfield is speachless as per usual
Fun fact: Mary Ward(Actress who plays Mum) is still alive at age 102!
She is still going at 104
Not-so-fun fact: She's passed on now.
it's Meg's man-boy
Meg attracts all the weirdos everyone else has or had somewhat normal companions even vera
Those kisses meg
Grey furry boom outside over Bea twice in the garden! Hilarious
Its hard to see her like this I want Bea back!
val is such a good actress
Ned Manning, who portrayed Nick, reminds me of Richard Hatch.
The arrival of the worlds oldest teenager , Gawd they should have cast Shelia Florance as Nick Clarke, she would have been as convincing as him playing a teenager.
I love watching them fold in the laundry, it is always so badly done
Jim Fletcher is pretty narrow minded! He doesn't need to be a naive do-gooder like Meg Morris, but he needs to open his mind up a bit lol. He doesn't want a bar of the possibility of Bea having amnesia. He was just as closed off when the teacher was there, and with that Evelyn lady with the herbal medicine, or "jungle juice" as he called it! LMAO
nicks father i think is marlenes father in later episodes
Great actresses on this show.
How many times did they need to write the word darling in the script with Meg and Bob?
Maybe they've forgotten each others' names.
Lizzie "I've fallen and can't get up"
A bedroom to himself - luxury
Hehe! You can see the mic pop into the frame at 14:25 (top left) :p
Listening to elevator music at the Morris residence. How pitiful.
Why doesn't mum remind ppl about the lump on the back of her Bea's head? Why isn't anyone remembering that the detective told Meg that the one guard from the van said Bea didn't t cause the crash???
Bad writing
Because the stupid writer for this episode. They should have sent an MD to examine Bea. That would have proven that she was truly injured.
Ah Mum Brooks, wise old soul. I believe the actress is still alive also. Margo has become a right nasty bit since going back inside. I still like the character though, great sense of humour at times.
Mary Ward is still alive at the age of 103.
Right now I hate Margo. I know she pinched Mum's pills. Poor Bea. If she's released suppose she gets her head knocked again and then starts to remember? What now? Back to the pound?
Goodness gracious, Officer Harrison ( Terry) is ever so short in stature!, surely the prison service has a height limit?. I have heard the line - "short-staffed" loads, but the department decided on a very short member.
There's nothing wrong with short people.
@@ajs41 You tell 'em, Andy! I'm only 5'2" myself.
I like the short staffed reference 😀.
Tell you what, top acting from Val, she even had me convinced.
Bea was in an accident. One person died and the other one is in critical condition. Bea obviously experienced a head injury. Amnesia is a condition from a brain injury. Bea needs medical attention.
If Terrible Terry Harrison got fat and started playing darts 🎯 he would look like Jocky Wilson 😃
John W - Jocky Wilson was one of the sexist men who ever walked the earth so don`t insult a legend
He looks a dead ringer for Kenneth More to me.
Who is jockey Wilson?
19:30 UGHHHH 'Just done a lovely job in the bathroom!'
Bob "darling" is a pain in the arse and who the hell sits around the house in a suit :-/
RIP Mary ward
Val is a great actress and this Amnesia storyline really brings that out. that being said, her strangling of Margo with the flashbacks in her mind reminds us that she did in fact murder someone. like it or not, the woman she murdered even if she was having an affair with Bea's husband, did not deserve to die. since when is having an affair reason to have your life taken from you. it would be interesting to know more about that woman :did she have parents or brother or sister was she even married herself?
Have you ever had an affair? I never cheated on my ex when we were together for six months. I had a idea that he was cheating on me for a while 8 years ago, as the same person that kept coming up and talking to him kept flirting with him. He didn't exactly push them away with a stick 🏒... luckily I had the sense split up with him before I found any real evidence for myself in my face. 🤨
@Winds of Change 🌬️🌀 I never had an affair, but my ex-wife cheated on me. I was hurt disillusioned et cetera, but I would never have killed her or her boyfriend. Why screw my life up? I moved on. Now married for 41 years.
@@eugenedegeorge5084 ok I just thought I would ask. Im sorry to hear your ex cheated on you and to have brought up old feelings. 🙁 I hope you are healing from those wounds?
@Winds of Change 🌬️🌀 No problem. It's always nice to connect with another PCBH fan--no matter the topic.
@@eugenedegeorge5084 Yes I agree. Ok im gonna do a Q&A.. So who is your favorite character and why?
Marry me, Dr Wiseman! I've always liked him!
You're gonna have to stand in line, because Dr. Hottie Weissman is mine! I fell in love with him when he made his first appearance. That wavy mane of hair, and those big puppy dog eyes get me going! Mmmmmm..... Donuts!
You'd have though Meg would have learned not to take "work" home after the Jean Vernon/Leanne Burke debacle?
Wow Val is really good, she even looks softer I thought at points she was a one trick pony but how wrong was I .
Of course Vera is enjoying Bea’s pain and suffering
As a major in psychology, bringing up drugs wouldve been the thing to prove Bea has amensia.I wouldve as well. Was wondering if anyone would ever think of that. Everyone knows how much she hates them. Game point, Doc! You win! Actually, Bea will benefit from his insight "probing the mind".
Val has truly outdone herself in these episodes since the car accident. Back to the fictional story though, why didn't Mum tell them to look at the left side of her head which was where Mum saw Bea was injured so there must be a lump or something & WHY the HECK (believe her or not) have they not had a medical doctor see her yet? I'm just at the start at this episode so I hope they do. In reality {which I know this isn't} she could have a fracture in her head or worse internal bleeds or an embolism brewing. She was is a car accident so bad that one person died and another critical. It's not like a Lizzie (with all due respect to the great one!) I mean Lizzie just starts out of nowhere with her crook amnesia 😵😨😉
I think her breakdown just before she shoots Nola McKensey is award winning, and quite disturbing.
Barnie rumble = Terry 😂
I quite like Mrs Clark's floral dress.
And here we have nick. One of the best characters in the show🙄
I’m surprised that Bea wasn’t given medical attention
How could anyone be cruel to mum
The two darlings kissing knocks me sick!
Lizzy the lagger haha
Jack? I thought it was Harry
why do the officers find it so hard to believe banging your head in a car crash could cause amnesia? considering the fact the officers were left at deaths door, its completely plausable which should entitle her to hospital treatment.
29:35 the secretary left without signing out
Nice door with no door knob.
At 12:50 Gaffney is so piss weak again she can even bash an elderly lady! There’s no way Bryant couldn’t have taken Gaffney on, as she was supposedly still tough at this point
He's warrens dad can't believe Bea with Lizzie cell mate two best characters in the show.
