  • In this video we mount a pair of aluminum tunnel rails on the snowmobile in order to mount a pelican case for camera gear. We got these aluminum tunnel mounts from Mountain Magic Snow Machines in Edmonton Alberta. They don't have a website but you can call Ken if interested at 780-474-9400. Carrying camera gear has always been a little bit of a pain so being able to secure the Pelican case on this Arctic Cat Mountain Cat is something that was long overdo.

    Very nice fellas! Just finished designing and 3D printing my own rail system for a hard case that looks pretty similar! Having good shops like Mountain Magic around makes me miss living Edmonton area.

      What kind of plastic filament would you use for something like that?

      @@DIGIT9 Definitely an important question for something that'll be experiencing vibration, cold temps, UV, impacts, water intrusion, etc. The rails that mount to the sled are made from nylon (Taulman Alloy 910), and the rails for the case side are PETG (much easier to print, not quite as good mechanical properties).

      Super cool. Would love to see them when you get them finished.

    Imagine if a company made something like that already, like a quick release link system or something

      @@DIGIT9 TBH i never considered Arctic Cat. This channel, Rick and the mechanical aspect have legitimized them for me. In the market for a new sled and really considering AC, especially with content like this to help. Canadian too!!!

    Looks great. How does it not slide off if riding in rough conditions. Is there a pin or something that would prevent it from falling off if jarred hard.

    • @DIGIT9
      @DIGIT9  3 года назад +1

      There's a cotter pin on each rail to hold it in. The sled has be rolled twice in the last couple days (won't mention the name of person who rolled it....lol) but I had my full kit in the case and I wasn't even worried in the least bit. It goes on tight and stays tight.

    What model pelican case is that?

    • @DIGIT9
      @DIGIT9  3 года назад

      It's a 1510 but it's not ideal because it was a "roller" case. But the dimensions of 22 x 13.8 x 9" are just perfect!
