I already mentioned it somewhere. In the middle of '93 I interrupted my vacation for a concert by the Crowes to see them live. I already knew their two first (vinyl) records, but live it was a completely different party, played so powerfully and cleanly that I didn't miss anything. The funniest part was when Chris Robertson smoked a joint and passed some joints to the crowd. That was really nice of him and I will never forget ;-)) Best regards @all from hamburg (germany)
"She Talks to Angels" was the fourth single off their debut album, Shake Your Money Maker, released in 1990. "Jealous Again" was the first. "She Talks to Angels" set a tone for "power ballads" in the nineties. I remember meeting a few lost girls back then myself. The organ flourishes, the guitar flourishes, elevate the bittersweetness of the lyrics and their delivery. Powerful.
The hair is from a little boy, but has no lover. Must be from a child she has lost. Perhaps this is why she is depressed along with her shame of her family. This Angel she talks to is likely her son in Heaven who her faith tells her he is there as she believes on Christ. She pulls the shad tight in the darkness of her pain of loss and the pain of the needle, perhaps
Great song. I've always wondered about the title line, "She talks to angels", as it makes me wonder if there is some schizophrenia going on with the woman in the song.
Love the song. The band is great, however the worst concert I ever went to. Chris the singer was so drunk the band was off key. Outside of live I really like them 👍 many Troubled people will lie exaggerate and do whatever it takes for others to accept their innocence, this song is of A woman who hides who she really is. Thanks Fay good song, good band 👍❤️😀❣️

They are a great band, that is my favourite crowes song, the singer and the guitar player are brothers. Please check out hard to handle

Don’t know about the angel part but the whole song is about her and her heroin addiction I read when it came out.

And where can I get music that has a base as dirty as that intro?
