    Put this into context, the Giants were the 5th seed of the NFC. The 5TH SEED. New England was 18-0 (No Sh!t). Many people thought their season was going to end in Tampa, No, Dallas, No, Green Bay?, HELL NO! Main reason were because of ELI(TE) MANNING (yes he's elite deal with it) and Michael Strahan. The Giants were not afraid of the Pats as some of the other teams they faced in the postseason. Fast Forward to 2:42 in the 4th quarter. The Giants are down 4 points after a defensive choke. Before the Giants come on field, Michael Strahan says "One touchdown and we are world champions, believe it and it will happen!" Everyone in the crowd thought that it would end. The Giants fans looked away in fear as Eli got "Sacked" but he didn't, he threw the ball to David Tyree in midfield. Eli's Hail Mary was answered. Later, Plaxico catches the game winner. Just a perfect bookend ending to a great season by the Giants. #ELIte

      I give more credit to the Giants Defense for shutting down one of the most prolific offenses featuring one of the best QB WR tandems of all time than Eli putting up 17 points on a hail mary throw to Tyree's helmet

      and what bout eli in 2011? most 4th qtr tds EVER. Almost everyy win was come from behind cuz they had no D or run game most of the yyr. he carried them. 67 yards from 5,000. Put up 38 on the 15-1 Packers. Ppl can call that one play a fluke, but u cant call EIGHT playoff wins resulting in 2 sbs a fluke. U kno how hard it is to win just one? brees, rodgers, just 1. Marino, 0. The hate he gets is uncalled for. His stats r identical to some top tier qbs. Its the int thats the only difference. It has a lot to do with their O under Gillbribe. Its complicated n hasnt been used in like 2o yrs. its built for a gunslinger. Which Eli is, takes chances with those ice in his veins. Id take those int knowing my qb will risk it all to win n not get scared n check down. As u can see under mcadoo who runs a normal nfl O. The int r down. I hope theyy open it up a bit more if they can get some dmn guys who can friggin block.

      +Truebells24 - Without Eli helping to put up points on the board, the defensive efforts would have been wasted.
      As for the other guy whining about the holding not being called, I recall a certain face mask pulled on Hixon that wasn't called earlier in the game. I wonder how the drive could have turn out had the Giants gotten the call that could have given them a better field position. Hmmm...

      this is such an accurate statement Lmao omg, its true, cuz the gmen last drive was so ugly, until the last two plays, 3rd down to smith, next play TD to plax. Unbelievabley calm throws by Eli given the pressure. the plax throw gets overlooked cuz of how open he was but it was still a timing throw to the sideline end zone. And go watch the nfl films sideline cam, he spun that rock perfectly. A truly majestic throw to win the game.

    I was a freshman in high school. This game was so stressful as a giants fan (and for Pats too obviously) because it's like ok we're not getting blown out, cuz honestly the week 17 game felt kind of fluky how it was a shootout. And I never thought a Brady/Belichick team could be outplayed 2 games in one season by the same team. But we're not really winning or losing at any point. Cuz the defense was playing out of their mind and the offense put some decent drives together but couldn't get anything out of them. Then the 4th quarter came alive. I could honestly have lived the rest of my life happy with just this win. I never talk shit about this win to Pats fans and most of my friends are gracious about it. But then to get that SB46 "the rematch" was like the validation i never even knew i wanted, cuz i never even thought it could happen. And it turned the 42 win into a statement of it's own, it wasn't a fluke, it wasn't luck. I admit the Giants got multiple good breaks in both 42 and 46 but at the end of the day you beat the best qb in history and playoff history twice. so yeah it came down to a couple plays here or there could have changed both games but the fact we were able to say we could play with those guys and that qb is everything. I'll cherish these memories forever.

    As a life long NY Giants fan, I have much love for LT, Simms, Carson, Banks and ALL off those players from the eighties and nineties. And the 1986 Giants cannot be touched. But THIS Giants team accomplished something very special when they stopped the Patriots from being perfect. That is one of the most historical things in football, and they went in there and got the job done. And that makes them incredibly special and they hold a section all their own in all New Yorker's hearts. And as a New York sports team, there is nothing more glorious you can achieve than stomping out New England/Boston.

      Richard Thomas you are correct , I was at that game. What a superbowl . people often forget that Brady led the offense down the field for a touchdown taking the lead with hardly anything left on the clock in the 4th. It took a miracle play . How in the world Eli even gets free to throw that ball is a story all in its own right , but then there's the catch by Tyree and it just blows my mind . the guy caught the ball by pinning it with one hand to his helmet , it's God damn ridiculous . This one hurt me as a Pats fan , and began this trend of us getting hurt bad late in the 4th by these ridiculous catches opponents would start making in the Super Bowl.

    Giants fan here. Definitely the greatest win in team history!
    As for the '72 Dolphins ... please. They went 17-0 while the Pats were 18-0 going into the Super Bowl. They eclipsed Miami.
    I love my team and give them all the credit in the world for this win but this Pats team was the best in history, IMHO. Brady was limping around for the 2 weeks prior to the game (and injuries are part of the game so it's not excuse) so that certainly opened the door for the G-Men to have a great defense performance.
    18 and 1 Giant loss!

      +FAITHandLOGIC Just a quibble - Miami _couldn't_ go 18-0 as their season was two games shorter, so it's not really a valid comparison. Both teams lost in the playoffs the previous season, and Miami won its first game in '73 before losing the second, so you could argue that the overall winning streaks were equivalent.
      Where the Pats really eclipsed Miami was the level of dominance during the winning streak. The Pats winning streak had an 18.6 pt average victory with ten 21+ point blowouts and only four games with a 7-pt or less margin, versus Miami's 13.3 pts average, four blowouts, and six one-score games.
      (IMO, they also eclipsed Miami in overall arrogance by an even wider margin, which is why I was _very_ happy to see the Giants take them down)

    What pisses me off as a Patriots fan is that after the catch by Tyree, the Giants had to convert a 3rd & 10 and then the idiotic call by the Defensive coordinator to call an all out blitz and leave 5'9 Ellis Hobbs to single cover 6'5 Plaxico Burress!

      No that's just because Patriots is a hated team by a lot of fans.... They've been caught cheating previously for many things not just deflating balls but recording games and recording team hand motions for play calls. Look up all there discrepancies they have had in the passed. They should have many super bowls took away.

    • @Mrd9960
      @Mrd9960 5 лет назад +1

      @@tommyboaz6777 No they shouldnt, just so you know, every NFL team back then did that, they just got caught, so you can call every team cheaters, you still have to make plays to win a game, ala catch the ball, play defense, MAKE PLAYS! Also the whole deflategate thing was a bunch of garbage, because they won 2 super bowls after that, it had 0 effect on the games, I know there are alot of haters out there because they always win, but give credit to what they have accomplished, they aren't cheaters.

    What's missing from this is on the play BEFORE David Tyree's helmet made a catch, Asante Samuel dropped what would have been a 19-0 sealing interception. One of those hidden plays that no one notices, but is decisive.

      First of all the ball was high, off his fingertips. Would have taken a phenomenal catch. Second, if he did hang on to it there's better than a fair chance he would have wound up out of bounds. Watch the play again. Pats fans always talk about that as if that was the only play that didn't go their way. How about Eli missing a wide open Plax with the score 10-7 Giants? Would have resulted in a first down, taken time off the clock and maybe another Giants TD. If "ifs" and "buts" were candy and nuts every single day would be Xmas!

    The Broncos in this Super Bowl against the Panthers, can be what the Giants were against the Patriots. The Giants had the #1 Defense in football in 2007. The Broncos have the #1 Defense this year. Peyton Manning isn't what he was, but I believe Denver has the ability to keep the Panthers in striking distance. Ever since his return Denver hasn't turned the ball over, and they have been balanced on both sides of the football. If they're not careful with the football, Denver IMO, will win Super Bowl 50.

      bxty 95 My mistake. They had the #1 Defense in the Playoffs in 2007. They knocked off every top team in the Postseason. Tampa Bay, won their division, the Giants win the Wildcard Game in Tampa. They go to Big D, and knock of the 13-3 Cowboys. The following week, they go to Blizzard Green Bay, and retired Brett Farve, "The First Time." Lol. Then they do the impossible by stopping the 18-0 Patriots. This Denver team reminds me of the 2007 Giants. I could be wrong. Carolina could smash Denver, but if their pass rush does to Carolina, what they have been doing all year, this will be a close, defensive, and competitive game similar to Super Bowl 42.

      Fucking Giants had the 17th ranked defense in 2007, idiot. They were not even close to being a dominant defense.They were mediocre that Season. Gave up 42 to the Vikes that year, 45 to the cowboys,, and 38 to the Pats just a month earlier.The Pats just choked this game and put up a dud performance offensively.

      Arch Hades True, but they had the #1 Defense in the Playoffs, which was the main reason they beat New England along with the other top seeded teams in their conference. You want to start name calling "cyber thug" You're probably a bitter Patriots Fan. I always come across a clown like you that wants to match wits. KORY ANDREL SCOTT I'm not a Pats fan i live in Tennessee. Lol. Pretty sure New England's Defense played just as well statistically as the Giants D in the 07 playoffs. But anyway Giants defense did play significantly better in the playoffs than they did in the regular season. But they were hardly 85 Bears esque or something.

  • @redmustangredmustang
    @redmustangredmustang 3 года назад +1

    It's pure and simple without the Manning brothers especially Eli in this game, Tom Brady has his perfect record at 19-0 instead of 18-1. Brady most likely has 9 or 10 Super Bowls especially Peyton's first Super Bowl win one since Bill Belichick would have a game plan against Rex Grossman and the Bears. If the Patriots don't lose against the Colts in 2006, they most likely beat the Bears. It would have been interesting to see how the Pats would have done against the Seahawks the first time, but really Tom Brady would have had at least 9 or 10 Super Bowls if Peyton and Eli weren't there playing against them. Eli came through when he had to and that catch by Tyree helped a hell of a lot. Eli won his two Super Bowl against Brady and that's all the stat matters 2-0 in Super Bowls against Brady.

    • @shabeki
      @shabeki 5 лет назад

      @@BillyBob-ti2fz Correction: they were CAUGHT cheating in week 1 of 2007 at Giants Stadium during a game against the Jets because then Jets coach Eric Mangini tipped off the NFL that the Pats were recording opponents' hand signals. The men recording the Jets were caught during the game. Mangini knew this because he actually was involved in doing it for Belichick when he worked for the Patriots. The Patriots were later accused of deflating footballs for a playoff game against the Ravens, but that's nearly impossible to prove after the game was over.
