Had a similar experience. Saw a pic of batgirl 23 online and contacted my local shop too late. They didn’t order any. Somehow got lucky and found an obscure store with a website and was able to order 3 copies at cover price. Still sitting on them wondering wether to slab or not. Now my shop has ordered a bunch of 24 variants. Guess we are all hoping lightning strikes twice. (The 24 Middleton variant might actually be nicer than the 23, just saying). Keep up the great work guys.
Justice for Comics we can agree to disagree, I am more of a fan than a profile. #23 will be worth more in the long run but I am really partial to skulls. Also if you are a fan, check out Middleton's upcoming variant for Batman #5)
I always pick up Mike Grell variant covers. Classic art. I’ve also read that Infidel has been picked up as a movie, so that could very soon be hot. Great story too.
Campbell is one of my favorite artists, everything he draws is so eye catching and I’m a sucker for anything spidey and xmen and lucky for me he does a lot of those (bad for my wallet). I’m really excited to see that animated movie, I’m thinking there might be a silk cameo. 🤔
Good to come back a couple of years later and see that most of these have dropped off the face of the earth. Makes you think about what variants you’re buying today
The later issues of the original run are super low print run, but Sam Kieth reprinted them all a couple years ago... so only DIE HARD collectors will be looking for them, the story can all be read in the Maxximized run
It was a while back but the Art Germ virgin variant for the "death" of Jane Foster is a gorgeous cover that fully deserved to spike like it did. I want a poster of that image in my wall. It's an amazing piece of art and fitting for the end of that great comic run.
Wonder Woman Issue 184, not the 1st series, we are talking about the 2nd series! Outrageous prices for this comic and it keeps going up. Overstreet says $3! Some are selling near the $300 range
I enjoy the discussions and the topics! These books, aside from the jock joker, are bad spec/investment books imho. In 5 years, i doubt they will be worth much. The whole rare variant ratio value is a fad - variants have become a marketing ploy through which the comic market for these modern books is being ruined. Regular covers have become like 10% of the total, with variants being 90% of all the books printed. Its ridiculous. When you produce 30 variant covers for an issue, they arent variants anymore...they are scams.
Estrella Rivera it really bugs me if I get them to be honest. I feel like I need the “real” cover for all the books. Besides tie ins and stuff that doesn’t bother me 🤷🏻♂️
I picked up the Marvel Alpha Rising 1:25 Variant at my LCS the Friday after it came out... for $8... Not sure what to do with it. I'm torn between selling it, slabbing/selling it or keep in my collection... I've got two daughters, so I may hold on to it... but I've got FOMO on those high prices. Thoughts?
Must be that comic shop owners have dulled senses or else don't check previews. Batgirl 23 was so obviously going to be a hit. And Middleton had already been killing it on the Aquaman covers and Batgirl (for two months prior)

2 yearsT on - 2020 - Miles Morales & Spider Gwen still hot - rest are not even known. The domino cover. Seen it not long back. Nice cover. in recent months haven't heard a dicky bird about Domino. Most of the hot comics cool down very quick after just a couple of years Tom. If Miles and Gwen get characters get characters coming along which are hotter, they could cool down too. Most of these comics are just not much of an investment if you want to keep them for any length of time. They die and get replaced quickly enough. You guys waffled on about Detective 880 wasn't it - cool for a t shirt or something. Do you even remember it much now? Here today, gone tomorrow. Just reinvest in a few extra copies of Amazing Spiderman 300, hold on to them decades, and there is your cashola.

Ms marvel sucks IMO...along with squirell girl. The draw SG like a huge heavy lesbian, all unattractive. Ms marvel is worthless. A muslim fan girl knockoff of mr fantastic. She is here today bc Sana Amamat is a narcissist and the fantastic 4 is MIA. I do not mind strong female characters just as long as they do not kill off and replace the male ones. They can have the female characters of right next to the male ones and everybody can get what they want. But I'm so happy to see Tony Stark back because Iron Man is not a 12 year old black girl

Sell it and buy a couple copies of the regular cover for the kids as well as some other comics for them to read and a few for yourself.
