- Even though this week was our vacation, we decided to stay at home and enjoy puttering around the house, golfing, garden getaways, and I did more work on the kitchen painting project. I also baked Ben's Great Grandmother's old fashioned blueberry cake recipe that came out so good!

Linda, feel free to tell us of things in your life that are sad, like your friend dying of brain cancer. It is not a burden for us to hear of some things in your life that are not just the beauty we see in your home and garden. It tells us that you are human and we respect you even more. Thanks for the beautiful videos.
evelynnnellis7903 Yes, I agree ... That is 'also' REAL LIFE - The Good, The Bad, The Beautiful, The Sad etc ~ To everything, there is a Season in which we must all pass through ... sometimes ''sharing our pain'' etc is not only a 'release' for ourselves ; but a Healing Balm for others as well [win/win] ...
That said, everyone handles loss & grief differently, with their own time frame, but I'm glad that you shared w/ Linda your invitation to be open w/ us, if she needs / wants to ~ how kind & thoughtful of You - Thank-you ~
Most Sincerely, Social Worker Cindy 🌷
Linda, I have watched your videos for some time now and ALWAYS enjoy them. One of the reasons I like your videos so much - other than all of the topics you discuss are my favorite things - is that your voice is so well modulated. It adds a level of enjoyment! I have always thought so and just wanted to let you know. --- and I love your house!! Thank you for your videos.
Thank you so much! Ben might not think the same as I'm chatting away early in the morning LOL.
My "sister-of-the-heart " friend and I are both going thru some major life-threatening health issues right now...we are both breast cancer survivors...and have walked shoulder-to-shoulder together, facing over 35 years of life's ups and downs. We both agree...God has given us an amazing gift, putting us on life paths that intersected...giving us a true sister to stand by each of us as we faced life's joys and hardships. I am 68, she is 72. I am humbled by God's grace....and know, Love has no end, it is there, surrounding and comforting...even when the physical being is not there. I hope that brings comfort and peace to you.
Thank you and I agree. I feel her around me often.
I also like your idea of a candle in a window. This is the one tradition of New England that I loved and adapted in my colonial. It was originally for the sailers, but also for a loved one to find there way home. Such a lovely tradition.
I live in the Midwest. I have lived in the Midwest all of my life. You have made me want to travel to New England. I have never had the urge to travel east of my surroundings. I now have that on my bucket list.
I am thinking you would love it!
Love the choice of music to accompany the various activities. The cake looks so good, simple and elegant.
Thanks so much 😊
What a delightful outing with you and play time in the kitchen! Just the Sunday afternoon ambience I needed. ✨
I'm glad you enjoyed our time together!
I’m really looking forward to seeing the house in fall and especially your Halloween decorations!
Me too!! That past two years we have had contractors for every holiday.
I am too @pamcornelius9122 ! Fall is my favorite season along with Halloween and Christmas!
Linda,
I appreciate you showing the tree supports!
You are so welcome
I love each video I watch; thank you for the inspiration. I printed this quote today, framed it, and put it in my kitchen so I can continue to be inspired - “I’m going to make everything around me be beautiful - that will be my life.” (Elsie de Wolfe)
Wonderful!
Loved everything in this video, Linda, except that you lost your best friend. I am so sorry to hear this. Too many people are leaving us lately.
Thank you for taking us along on your journeys.
I love this channel! I will be making the blueberry cake, but I’m going to make mine with the abundance of blackberries we had this year. Just a beautiful video. I always learn something, I love the parchment paper doily you made, I would have never thought of that! I love it. I will be making that also.
I'm so sorry for your loss, Linda. Sending you hugs and love. 🤗🥰
Nice adventure to the estate. Kitchen is beautiful!
Cake looks wonderful! Thanks for showing us how to make the scalloped edge parchment for the cake plate! I absolutely love the quail painting. You have such a great eye for lovely things!
Have done a double batch of the cake, didn’t mean to but not use to cups (from U.K.) used frozen raspberries for the 2nd cake, as that’s what I had in and both are wonderful, wish I could upload a photo but thanks for your recipes. Also did the blueberry buns previously, very yummy as well xx😋
What a beautiful video. The home and gardens were stunning. The blueberry cake looks delicious. Thanks you for sharing.
That blueberry cake looks wonderful, especially with the steam floating up from it. New England is really beautiful. Thanks for the lovely video.
You seem so much more relaxed now that you’ve scaled back a bit. Always remember to please yourself as you please others. Have a good week.
Yes! Thank you! It has made a huge difference. I'm practicing what I preach about living in the moment and slowing down.
This is so weird. The Secret Garden is a very special book to me because my grandmother used to read it to me as a little girl and it was my favorite, and this morning, after all these years, I was inspired to pull it off the shelf and read it again. Now here you are mentioning it.
Kindred spirits indeed!
@@pamcornelius9122indeeed! I was not expecting the racism though, that really took me by surprise, did not remember it. I know it’s a novel from 1911 but sheesh
Blueberries cake or muffins is always good when you add some lemon zeste and juice. It is the perfect marriage of flavor.
Sounds great!
@@newenglandfineliving Just in case you wouldn't know how to do this easily. ruclips.net/user/shortsdO-2Jg4RQvE
I love that little tutorial on parchment doilies! So awesome ❤ tysm Linda!
I'm so glad! It was a last minute fun thing to keep the glass from getting too sticky. I used to do it a lot.
I loved it too! Simple, but so sweet.
@@mooreacrestxgardenening4979 Thank you!
Oh, you are making me miss New England and my colonal home.
I hope your visit with your Mom was very good. Thanks so much for sharing that beautiful home and garden with us. That blueberry cake looked so yummy! I always love your videos! Thank you so much for taking time to share these with us!
You are so welcome
Linda, your home is beyond beautiful! You have a great talent bringing your decorative pieces together so tastefully. Your voice is also so soothing to listen to. Thank you for the tour of the mansion grounds it was magnificent.
Thank you so much!
Yes! Her voice is so very soothing to the ears. Everything about her videos are lovely!
I’m so very sorry about your friend…
This video was was the perfect example of living in the moment and just slowing down to enjoy each day. I look forward to watching on Sundays!❤
Had my wedding reception there years and years ago. Still lovely!
Such a beautiful and calming outing.
The camera in the car dropping “hello, goodbye” 😂😂 another great video Linda thank you from Sydney 🇦🇺
😁 LOL Thank you you're watching!
Thank for sharing your recipes with us. I took a screen shot of the blueberry cake, so I could make it the day I watched the video. I didn't want to use a glass 8" pan, so I used a 10" cake tin and shortened the time to 25 minutes. I was thinking the cake would be thinner and dry, but my family would not care and eat it anyway. To my delighted surprise, it was really moist. I cut it into eight triangles. My son started with 2 slices and came back for a third. I had two slices. I know my husband had at least one, and the rest didn't make it until morning. I need to rewrite the recipe to take the guesswork out for the non-baker who may use it later down the road, but it's definitely one for the files. Thank you, Linda.
Good to know the 10" cake tin worked! thank you!
I enjoy all your videos and Thank You for all the inspiration and the calm and peaceful way you deliver your thoughts. I am going to the kitchen and make the Blueberry cake. Thank you! We were told the same story about the dragonfly as children, and I am from the Midwest.
That cake looks amazing! And I am so going to make cakes with parchment paper from now on. So sorry to hear about your friend, my mom also lost her best friend to brain cancer. The tour of that home and gardens was awesome! Can't wait to see how yours all comes together
Thank you
Love your chandelier in this video. It’s so New England to me.
What a delight to see Glen Magna again! I grew up in the next town and my mother, who loved flowers, would take me and my sister there. If you want to see another spectacular garden go to Beverly to Lynch Park where they have one of the most beautiful gardens I’ve ever seen.
I lived in Middleton, so not far from us either. I went often. I have not been to Lynch Park in a very long time! I think that would be a great drive to do very soon.
Hi Linda !I adore your home and you’re such an inspiration for mine.. I’ve been following you for years! I just put up some beautiful toile black and white curtains in my dining room and living room and every time I look and them I think of you! 🩷🩷🩷
I am tickled to hear that you start projects in your Jammie’s -like me! Your dining room is so fabulous.
That Tree!! WOW! …not exactly what I expletived 😮
Hi Linda,
A girl after my own heart. I also, like to work in my pj's. I love your videos and your hard work. You are a very wonderful women. Justlove watching you. Pat from seattle washington
Thanks for sharing this video. Absolutely beautiful place, and I love those gardens, very serene. The blueberry cake looks Delicious. It could be the flour you used that made it dense. My Mother only used White Lily self rising flour for her biscuits because it made them light and fluffy. Also, she used the same kind of sifter you have. Hers was older than myself, and I'm 55 years old. Lol
Oh, I know if the batter is overworked, it can be dense for cakes.
My Mother was a professional cake decorater and made so many birthday, wedding cakes and regular cakes 🎂 🥮. I sure miss her and her baking. You're so lucky to still have your Mother. Have a Great Day!
Luckily the cake cake out moist and light, but....Ben was saying he remembers his moms were more like brownies. Hmmmm. I followed his great grandmother's recipe, so now I am doing research to see if there is another recipe card in the family somewhere.
The room looks beautiful, and the table looks great in the new position.
Thank you! The table is in the position before we had the fireplace put in. The other way I can see the flames better, but for now, no flames so it went back :- D
Thank you for taking us along. I so having my morning coffee with you and getting inspired. Have a wonderful day. FYI I used ladies apples on my oval pineapple decorations( Williamsburg style) for the Christmas holidays when I lived in MA. The apples were hard to find sometimes good luck.
My husband was stationed at Hanscom AFB. But we lived in both Tewksbury and then Templeton.
I enjoyed seeing Glen Magna. Sunday morning in the kitchen is fun. The blueberries looked so plump and delicious! It's the little things that make us happy sometimes. Thanks for sharing, Linda.
I really enjoyed the vlog today. The kitchen is gorgeous even though not completely done. The blueberry cake look delicious. Thanks!
Hi dear Linda ! I am really looking forward to have the blueberry cake recipe!
Hello. Gail and Alex from Northern mudlarks have a new channel, The Lost Tower Diaries. In one of their videos they show how they took cuttings from a fallen oak tree on their property to propagate. Then showed the cuttings several months later. Just a thought on your apple tree. The views from their farm in Scotland is breathtaking.
I believe my daughter follows their channel.
What a beautiful mansion. I could just imagine what it was like living there a long time ago. I too start projects a lot of mornings in my pjs. I guess we’re just excited to get started. ☺️ You are doing a great job with your painting. It looks so nice. That’s quite a project! I bet the blueberry cake was delicious and especially warm with a good cup of coffee. Looking forward to your thrift haul.
Love that water color print!
you are the only person I know of who has painted the house in silk PJs! I bow to your coordination!
I certainly focus on being neat and slow going LOL
Love field trips with you Linda❤❤❤❤😊
🤗
Just lovely - from start to finish, you are such a class act! A most enjoyable video, thank you!
You are so welcome! Thank you!
Kitchen looks gorgeous... AND cozy! Love it ☺️
Beautiful watercolor of turkey! Great find!
I'm glad I purchased it. I walked around with it for a bit and told myself it must go home with us. LOL
My 4H club in And county Ontario used to make a simpler recipe only we made a lemon sauce for topping and it was called blueberry buckle
You make everything look beautiful.
Enjoyed the trip to Glen Magna. Like the idea of a dried apple garland. You could do an apple cone tree with all of those apples. Amazed at all of the work you take on at the house. You're so...CAPABLE!. Enjoy your videos.
I am loving the kitchen. It is positively beautiful. I also made a blueberry cake with lemon curd very recently, fingers crossed, it was delicious, eyes crossed, the lemon curd was delightfully tart.
Oooo-what is THAT recipe?! Please share with us all 😊!
Yummy! Love a tart lemon flavor. 😋👍🏻
Yummy! Love a tart lemon flavor in cakes. 😋👍🏻
What a delightful video to watch on a Sunday evening. I always learn something new. You are a gem.❤️

Thank you Linda for your video!
Love the video! I always look forward to spending time with you on your New England adventures.

Linda, news of your friend’s passing is heartbreaking, I am so sorry for your loss. Many thanks for all you do and share with us, our lives are enriched by you doing so! Much affection from the city of Detroit! ❣️
Thank you
Like no clutter. So many old homes have too much and the beauty of home is missed.
I hear you. I do have more to go in the rooms, but I'm keep it simple for now so that I don't have to move more as I work on the house.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful place in MA with us all. I haven’t been there but at least now I know just how lovely it IS! I also appreciate you sharing your loss. My condolences…. it must be difficult for you. We truly never forget those we lose and with time the memories help with the grief. Im rather older than you and I’m grateful for my memories. I’m excited to see what you have discovered locally! A new shop, if it is a good one, is SUCH a joy!! I also hope the visit with your Mum was wonderful for you both. 😊🤗🙏
Everything looks beautiful! It certainly has changed since you moved in…for the better! I love your grandfather clock in the dining area but I also know when you switch furniture out, it usually goes well. ❤
Absolutely beautiful gardens. You live in a gorgeous area of the US. So sorry to hear about your friend 🙏🏻❤
Thank you!
Such a wonderful video Linda. The cake looked sooo delicious ☺️🫐. I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of your friend 😔. Enjoy your evening. 🕊️
Wonderful video! The blueberry cake looks so yummy! I love the scalloped paper underneath….thanks for sharing that! Also, thanks for taking us along to the beautiful estate! Have a blessed week Linda! 💕
Beautiful garden tour. I appreciate your steady camera work. Loved seeing the tree held up by the trunks of other trees. Your blueberry cake looked so delicious! I want to try that recipe. Thank you for posting your adventures. Have a wonderful day and take care.
Your sleeves are all over that cake lol!
Linda I have green apples much like your mini mac’s, small but tastes like golden delicious! Must be all the rain we are getting in the north east! Have you visited Long Hill in Beverly? Ok going to try baking this cake in the am! Thank you for all!
Beautiful Estate Linda, your kitchen really is looking lovely, so looking forward to seeing the window seat covers. The frog Pat sent is beautiful would like to see that with some flowers in. Did you save me some cake?..😁
Thanks so much! I'm looking forward to the seat cushions too! I'm waiting to hear back on their ETA.
Hope you enjoy the book and flower frog 🥀
I love it!
The estate was beautiful, enjoyed the tour. Just such fun to watch what you do
Glad you enjoyed it!
Blueberries look yummy. You always have the best tips
Thank you so much!
Your house is beautiful thank you for sharing with us. I enjoy your videos, they are very relaxing ❤️
What a gorgeous estate and garden walk. I cannot believe that you virtually had the entire place to yourself! I can imagine how peaceful it must be to walk through this amazing place. Here in California we have a mansion called Dunsmuir in Oakland Calif on a 50 acre property. I use to go to all the teas and Christmas and garden tours. Now I am 72 and all my friends have mostly moved away. So I don't even know if they still do all the events. I do know weddings are still held there. Those were the highlights of my social circle back then. We would look forward to each event with such excited anticipation. Sure would love a dome covered cake plate filled with that mouth watering blueberry cake! I can almost taste it!
Is it close enough you might consider going by yourself? I enjoy going places alone (obviously LOL)
Its not that far way. I really need to get out of my comfort zone and get to places more . I don't mind being alone. I just hate driving alone. But boy do I love a good garden , house or holiday tour!
Place the lovely grandfather clock on the bare wall left of the fireplace just left of that side window
It was there for awhile, it blocks my view out the window while I am working at the counter ;-)
Your kitchen looks great! And such a relaxing, enjoyable video. As always 💖
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for sharing the memory of your friend and her husband’s initials when they were kids. I’m sorry that you weren’t able to see the initials. The estate is so beautiful, and the day looked like it was perfect. Your dress was so pretty-perfect for looking at gardens. You have to be the neatest painter that I’ve ever seen. I don’t know many people that are brave enough to paint in silk pajamas! lol I hope Willow is doing well with-I missed seeing her in this video. I hope you, Ben and Willow have a wonderful week! ❤
Lovely video. So sorry for the passing of your friend. Thank you for the tour of the estate. Your kitchen and dining area look so great. I love what you have done putting a fireplace and window seats. Such a cozy, comfortable place to sit and to cook in. The cake looks yummy. Blessings lovely lady
My deepest condolences on the loss of your dear friend.
Thank you so much.
I grew up on the North Shore so I love your videos. Also, I make the Jordan Marsh muffins often for my boyfriend and now he will love the cake. Looks delicious!
I like going to places that bring back childhood memories, or go with someone and hear their memories. The mansion's gardens are beautiful.
So sweet of Ben to let you share his great grand mama's recipe. It looks so good. Look forward to seeing your thrift finds. Sorry for the loss of your friend. ❤️
Thank you! Yes, once Ben had the muffins, the family blueberry cake was something he missed and it made me happy to make if for him.
Hi Linda..I truly enjoy your videos. Every part of it. Very inspirational, love the baking, the gardens, the projects, thrifting. I learn something new each time and always longing for more to watch. I’m also the same age as you. Thank you for your beautiful videos. 😊
Thank you so much for watching and thank you for your feedback!
Loved the story about the Dragon Fly, lol and will try the recipie with my freshly picked blue berries. Thanks Linda, always a sweet break in my day when I get to watch your videos.
Linda you made my day!
I'm so glad!
Your kitchen gives me such happiness, I just love it, so warm, inviting, cozy yet its so open and airy. Hope this makes since😊 Bens grandmother's blueberry cake looked so delicious. I don't have my own blueberries but I will be trying this recipe. I loved the story about your dear friend and her love carving their Initials in the tree💓 Yes it is sad she was taken from the cancer but it was a sweet story. I wonder if you did ask the grounds people if you could take a picture of it they will let you or take it for you. What a keepsake of your good friend💟
I did ask and they said yes. I went back to the tree, but did not find it. There were so many carvings and where I remember it being, I did not see it. I chose not to show that part on the video for fear too many might assume they could walk in.
Thank you for sharing your story. The gardens are beautiful! It’s so nice to have so many places to visit! Watched your previous Fall videos (again (x6 at least 😂) 🍂 🍁 love all the video’s especially the Autumn my favorites) and anxiously awaiting Autumn ‘23 at Sugarwood! Have a peaceful week…❤
I could smell that cake, it looks delicious!
Thank you, I really enjoyed this video, I'm so sorry about the loss of your friend.
It is always so hard to lose someone we are close to. My sincere condolences for your loss. I cannot believe how much you do in the course of a week. Painting is not my favorite thing to do, so that would take me forever. Good going! I could almost smell that delicious cake! Save a piece for me!
Thank you.
you can do this Linda ... the sugarwood garden will look very similiar i know you can do this
thank you for taking us along w/you
Thank you! I look forward to making plans for it this winter or even map it out this fall.
Great video as usual! Regarding apples I would say they are lady apples because fruit and vegetables tend to grow to their intended full size and then ripen. Just what I've learned in life and I could be wrong.
Thanks for sharing!! That's what I was wondering. I was going to go back to past Summer videos and see if I saw the apple size compared to fall. It did not have many apples in the past until I used organic fertilizer stakes.
If it tasted good, it was ripe and most likely the intended size.
Thank you very much for sharing another wonderful video. That walk around the estate, and the audio were so delightful, especially since the place holds memories, for you. I am sure that you had an enjoyable, meaningful time with your Mom. I could do all but smell, and taste your passed down, blueberry cake recipe. YUMMY
Thank you for sharing, Linda.
💐🪴🌾😊
Thank you very much!
the grounds are so peaceful and beautiful !
