First time hearing Rachmaninoff. For me this is what a pipe organ is all about - those dark, powerful minor chords, the reverb off the cathedral walls and ceiling, the complexity of the instrument, that somber, medieval tone.
I listen to almost every available rendition of Rachmanioff's Prelude in C-sharp minor on piano because it belongs to my favorite pieces in classic music, this one performed on organ however knocks me off my heels. Thanks for sharing
Никакой другой инструмент не смог бы передать красоту и величие этого произведения Рахманинова-только орган. Звучание завораживает, исполнение прекрасное!
Congratulations on a superb rendition Loreto. The recording quality, especially the bass response is incredible. Definitely a showcase piece and one of the best on RUclips.
Well transcribed and very well played....what is lost on the organ is the wonderful shaping which can be accomplished on each three-chord grouping, and then a decrescendo on the long descending run of chords. Pianists love to play this with all the heart they can muster.
In as much as I love hearing these organist.....it would be just as wonderful for them to pan around to view some of the church's and cathedrals they play in. None the less.....what entertainment.....love it.
Le rendu de cette pièce, sonne merveilleusement comme s'il avait été conçu pour l'orgue. Excellente interprétation. Merci et bravo. Cordialement Olivier
Every time I play this I'am that much nearer heaven. This will always be my favourite piece of organ music, great playing and recording couldn't be better-thanks to you all. From the Demon:)
The organ is perhaps the best (for sure the most impressive) instrument out there. There is nothing quite like the sound of a pipe organ singing and filling a church. (Or theater... based on location of the instrument.) I am really quite glad to be a student of such a piece of architecture!!!
OMGoodness! I just wish that I had taken my Mother's offer of piano lessons seventy years ago - would never have reached this virtuoso level - but thanks for sharing your wonderful musical skills with us all. Henry
To dear music friends. I listened to the performance. It is a wonderful performance. I was impressed. That's excellent. I got courage and hope from your performance. Thank you very much. I also do my best! I support you. From now on, I would appreciate your favor.
I'm glad to have found a channel devoted to pipe organ music. It's cool to see the musicians play also. It's a shame this beautiful instrument isn't popular these days.
Folk music, tambourines, guitars - so beloved of clergy since the 1960s particularly, who want to look cool with the young - have a lot to answer for.....................banging a tambourine and strumming three chords on a guitar doesn't take much work or musicality - that's the fashion now - give a moment's thought to organists who have studied the instrument for many years to play the most outstanding music - only to be pushed aside to make way for happy-clappy etc..... a sad and lazy world......
Duncan Middleton it is profound how people are moved by musicians who seriously prepare excellent music in church. People are also moved when the clergy seriously prepare their sermons. But many people are too lazy prepare and just wing it. This is not lost on the people.
Maeostoso! Splendid enough to be piped up to Rachmaninoff in Heaven. "I owe to God the gifts given to me, to God alone; without him, I am nothing." Sergei Rachmaninoff.
I don't know what happened to my previous message, but just to let you know I am still in a flap, it's just like a whirlwind in my lounge. Possibly my favourite piece of organ music for the reasons you are fully aware off:)
Mmmm... you can hear the unrestored Cavaille-Coll in the registration chosen here in New York. The organ in Lyon must be a beast to play.... heavy action. Fine playing of this transcription
From others records, the transcription for organ of Rachmaninov 's Prélude was due to Louis Vierne, organist of Notre Dame cathedral of Paris ; the présent transcription seems to be the same...as that from Louis Vierne ; would Louis Robillard had modify , or adapt the original transcription ? Many thanks , Loreto Aramendi, for this very pleasant performance. (sorry for possibly errors in the language of Shakespeare...)
I'm a great fan of the organ played a bit many years ago, but I'm not really a fan of music transcribed for the organ like this one which is a piano piece, I just think there is so much great music for the organ, having said that this is exciting it almost makes me want to get the next flight to Buenos Aires where Loreto is playing on Sunday 21/8/2016. I assume this was a while ago as I was in New York last November and this is the old organ I think, wonderful photo inside when no one is there, The thing I don't like about St Patrick's is the people wandering around when the organist is playing its disrespectful.
Ailsa Rodrigues I didn't realise you had made a comment on this recording, but at the same time I thought you would like it, and glad you do. I share your thoughts about people making noises and the lack of respect shown by some. Respect and good manners are so important to me, two people may dislike each other intensely but if you have respect it can make the world of difference in a relationship.I don't normally like transcriptions but like you I think this one is wonderful.
Rachmaninov conceived this piece for the piano, in my humble opinion, playing it on the organ is an arbitrary stretch. Expecially at the end, when on the piano we listen to a ppp, while on the organ there's a blatant fff.
Pianist: Rachmaninoff had big hands...
Organist: Then use your feet !
yeah… us pianists have it rough
the camera shaking with the force of the music is pretty amazing, and gives you a glimpse into just how powerful an organ is in person.
First time hearing Rachmaninoff. For me this is what a pipe organ is all about - those dark, powerful minor chords, the reverb off the cathedral walls and ceiling, the complexity of the instrument, that somber, medieval tone.
I always felt this piece fits more to organ, and now I know I was right. Thank you for the video!
Kinda applies to me too because I also have a potential of being able to play it on the organ.
Me too that’s why I’m here😂
I listen to almost every available rendition of Rachmanioff's Prelude in C-sharp minor on piano because it belongs to my favorite pieces in classic music, this one performed on organ however knocks me off my heels. Thanks for sharing
My compliments to the Organist and the Great Organ, Appreciate so much the music staff for this perfect recording.
Никакой другой инструмент не смог бы передать красоту и величие этого произведения Рахманинова-только орган. Звучание завораживает, исполнение прекрасное!
I never tire of playing this superb recording of a truly magnificent
Instrument and amazing organist.
Wunderschön gespielt!! Danke für das schöne Werk..... Einfach perfekt!!
I love the way her feet dance across the foot pedals during the crescendo. 🤗
Congratulations on a superb rendition Loreto. The recording quality, especially the bass response is incredible. Definitely a showcase piece and one of the best on RUclips.
Utterly stunning! The finest choir singing on the West Coast, without exception! Well Done!
Top notch performance and recording. Thanks for sharing!
I can't stop listening to this piece - what an awesome transcription. I looked it up on the piano - does not compare.
i think piano version is better 😂
i think the piano version is way better than this
Sounds fantastic on my tv set.
The sound must be enourmous!
Well transcribed and very well played....what is lost on the organ is the wonderful shaping which can be accomplished on each three-chord grouping, and then a decrescendo on the long descending run of chords. Pianists love to play this with all the heart they can muster.
Grande qualité d'enregistrement
Interprétation G R A N D I O S E !!
Merci.
The organ must breathe all the air in the room to sing this piece!
Very powerful, nicely done.
In as much as I love hearing these organist.....it would be just as wonderful for them to pan around to view some of the church's and cathedrals they play in. None the less.....what entertainment.....love it.
Bravo! I heard voices within that old warhorse that I'd never been aware of in piano versions.
Le rendu de cette pièce, sonne merveilleusement comme s'il avait été conçu pour l'orgue. Excellente interprétation. Merci et bravo. Cordialement Olivier

I'll be sure to stay off any train tracks :)
Nicely played on a grand and beautiful pipe organ
A mighty and
grandiose per-
formance like
this underscores the remark once made that
"the cathedral
organ is the pope of instruments."
The organ is perhaps the best (for sure the most impressive) instrument out there. There is nothing quite like the sound of a pipe organ singing and filling a church. (Or theater... based on location of the instrument.) I am really quite glad to be a student of such a piece of architecture!!!

Thanks for the kind comment
Dark and foreboding, Rachmanioff at his finest.
To dear music friends.
I listened to the performance.
It is a wonderful performance.
I was impressed.
That's excellent.
I got courage and hope from your performance.
Thank you very much.
I also do my best!
I support you.
From now on, I would appreciate your favor.
i didn't know i needed to hear this in my life. Thank you
Je méconnaissais cette oeuvre. Magnifiquement interprêtée. La sonorité de l'instrument est vraiment superbe. Très bonne qualité de l'enregistrement.
Oh my god lady...i love Rachmaninov...and you played it perfect!!! Thank you very much!!!🤗🤗👍❤️
Love the pedal work
Organ is a next level instrument. Coming from a piano background, I am impressed
fabuleux tout simplement, l'oeuvre et la maîtrise... j'écoute en boucle
wonderful masterpiece! YOU'RE GREAT
Eblouissant!!! Merci encore. Olivier
Happy Halloween! You play this sooo good!!! I love it!!🤗👍
I'm glad to have found a channel devoted to pipe organ music. It's cool to see the musicians play also. It's a shame this beautiful instrument isn't popular these days.
Thanks for your comment. I lament that the pipe organ is not more popular.

Duncan Middleton Absolutely.
Wonderful. More!!! CVD
hair standing up on my arms and neck wow truly moving
Just what I needed
Love this arrangement! It takes Stokowski's orchestral arrangement of the piece to another height! Bravo! :)
Great fun. Thanks for sharing.
Goddamn....wish I could have seen that in person, that was amazing
Maeostoso!
Splendid enough to be piped up to Rachmaninoff in Heaven.
"I owe to God the gifts given to me, to God

him, I am nothing."

*BRAVISIMO, THANKS A LOT!!!*
Mmmm... you can hear the unrestored Cavaille-Coll in the registration chosen here in New York. The organ in Lyon must be a beast to play.... heavy action. Fine playing of this transcription
Except this recording appears to have been from St. Patrick's Cathedral in NYC, which is a Kilgen organ.
Stunning!
Wow, I didn't know this piece would be so impressive on the organ. I only knew it played on the piano.
Super!
Played the last movement as a postlude once. I thought I was the only nut who did stuff like this! :D
Rachmaninoff's dirge in c# min? This RUclips 5:03, Rachmaninoff's own recordings about 3:45.
Thank you!
Breath taking.
Such a secure technique. brava!
I am a biig organlistener...mostly Bach...but also Mozart lübeck Vivaldi and so on..but i love heavy pieces like this...i love it!!!🤗❤️
Never heard it played on a pipe organ before, but I guess God keeps me alive for new experiences.
God keeps you alive so you can show him to others
I was not familiar with Loreto, much less this transcription. Well done, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the comments. Loreto is from Spain and i hope she visits the USA more often.
Good! Finally some talent transcribed this for the pipe organ!
Yeah she is awesome
Joe, your mics go from DC to light ;) Great recording!
She was made to play this song on this machine.
Magnificent! Rachmaninov ended-up hating his creation, as I'm sure you know, but he would surely have approved of this excellent version. Thank you.
Marvellous! JUST MARVELLOUS!!!!
What a great sound; since I now have a hauptwerk organ, I might try playing this piece, although I'm self-taught, will be limited in my abilities.

I get the impression Virgil Fox wouldve done this piece in like Bach’s Come Sweet Death on the Wanamaker organ.
Simply amazing. Thank you :)
+Alan Cordwell it is so much fun to work with Loreto and Dominique. Appreciate so much the music staff at St Pat's kindness
Dracula turns around in his grave. Which actually is a compliment!
that is SO intense
Still my favorite!!! 💪💪💪👍👍🥰

Majestic✈
i love it!
incredible
Marvelous !
I think the transcription is by Louis Vierne and not Louis Robilliard. Could you please double check?
Yes, the transcription is by L. Vierne.
Surely this is The Transcription by Louis Vierne
Extraordinaire !
I also play the organ, where can I find the music sheet for it?
Excellence, thankyou.
Sie ist ein Genie
Wonderful.
Cooler Sound yes..........
what is the disposition of these organs?
Can i ask what is the green thing on her piece?
chills...
This is f**king awesome!!!
Such language
Is that a 32ft pipe, because that's a lot of bass???!!!
Is this St. Patrick's Cathedral NYC?
yes it is
Damn good!
For me it sounds better on organ than in the piano original
Wow...Strangely, darkly, hypnagogically erotic too! 😍 Think it's probably the 'stretch'... Marvellously played, btw x
Best sound ever. ! Barry. Pitt 😅
Rachmaninov conceived this piece for the piano, in my humble opinion, playing it on the organ is an arbitrary stretch. Expecially at the end, when on the piano we listen to a ppp, while on the organ there's a blatant fff.
Удивительно прекрасно звенят православные колокола Рахманинова на чисто католическом инструменте! Комплимент!
Pour le piano c’est pas mal aussi
Anyone else hear an Alice In Chains riff in this piece?
