Love the idea of giving the ball to some amateurs' to play with. That's such a good test of equipment, balls or clubs, designed to bring relief to a high handicap golfer.

I don't have a scam website to advertise but I agree. I hate the equipment tests when it's just tour pro's who are like "yeah that feels a bit better." means nothing to the general public. Even seeing Rick hitting a few doesn't mean a whole lot since, like he said, he might just be swinging well that day. If I see some high handicappers hitting this ball straight I'd highly consider giving them a go

Yeah, the Maxfli balls aren't as bad as maybe the budget reputation would seem to be. I've been playing the Maxfli Tour for the last two years, since as a high handicapper the ProV1s don't show much benefit for me. For a good golfer like Rick, I wonder if it’s a bit of a placebo effect of like “oh I know I can now hit this straight” and then he delivers a great swing. I think the real test will be with amateurs trying it out who don’t have a consistent swing

  • @calekarr10
    @calekarr10 2 года назад +5

I've used these balls before, early in my golf playing days (2 years ago and last year) and I like them. Once I learned how to properly align myself, they helped me take several strokes off per round. I went twice in one week, using regular balls, and these, and had 7 less strokes with the straightfli. That being said, I'm improving each round, and I'll use them more after I am hitting consistently, and see what I truly think of them. But, for cheap balls to play with your buddies, they're great.

I’m hitting more fairways than ever and have lowered my handicap to its lowest ever, 8. I also shot my lowest round ever, 70. THESE BALLS ARE NO JOKE! When I played a ProV1 I was able to work them when needed left and right and had a draw bias on my drive. These do work. I drive the ball long, but not straight. I've been playing with those illegal balls because I can hit almost every fairway with them. These ones aren't as good, but they are legal. I've reduced my slices and hooks with these by a lot. If I hit an awful shot, instead of slicing into the next fairway over, I'll just be in the rough next to my fairway. With normal balls, I'll hit maybe 4 fairways. With these I hit probably half. But my misses are so much closer to the fairway than they were.

In 1995 there was a conforming golf ball with a 'counter-active' dimple pattern. It claimed to reverse the balls spin. The ball was the Slazenger 420i. They were a cheap 2 piece ball with strange patterned variable depth dimples. When I tested it on the golf course with a few other Pros we concluded that it worked. It didn't fly as far as many balls, and it obviously didn't have the feel of the Titleist Professional of the day. But, I used it to pass my PGA Players Ability Test on Dec. 16, 1996 at Camelback GC in Scottsdale Arizona.

I’ve been playing these for 3 years. I like them. They keep my fade from turning into a slice. They do run a bit on greens so I tend to play for the front of greens. Very affordable and durable. Callaway’s Supersoft stops more on the greens but I tend to spray them more.

Last year I found one of these and played it for three rounds. Did some research and found they were developed to fly straighter. I'm a 10hcp and bought some and have never looked back. They really do work. These help that occasional annoying fade of mine off the tee and keep the penalty strokes down.

I started using these last summer, and oh my god are they awesome. Its not a cure for a bad swing, but it keeps you into the game mentally. Its nice to finally feel like i have some sort of control. All though i bought some Mizuno mp-20 SEL irons and screwed that all up lol.

Rick, great shots with this ball. I was a sales associate at Dick's Sporting Goods (not working their now) in their golf shop. We sold alot of these and others in the Maxfli brand. I've played these straightfli and the softfli balls. I'm a mid-handicapper on my best days😁. I figured trying them out so as to know whether to recommend them for similar players. They do play nice. A definite difference in feel between the two balls. I did recommend them and many repeat customers commented on playing well with the Maxfli.
In the US currently they're running at $35 for two dozen. They also make some 3 piece Tour balls.

I picked up a box of these last week and they definitely fly straighter. With that said, I was still able to shape a shot when I needed to. We were playing on a course I had never played and on one particular shot I got myself in trouble under a tree on the right side of the fairway on a par 5. I was 150 yards out, but my only shot at the green was to play it out to the left and fade in back. Hit a 7 iron with the club face slightly open. The ball started left and came back perfectly to the right. I missed the green, but was just off to the left, pin high.

    Hi Rick,
You said you'd like to see amateurs test these balls and I might have just the thing for you!
My brother who I haven't seen in a long time is coming back from Vienna and along with my other brother we've managed to arrange a round of golf at hazel grove golf club a week on Friday. We play off 12-20 handicaps so ideal for a test. Us three better ball vs you could make a cracking video. All 3 big fans and subscribers...we learnt playing the adlington pitch and put!

Rick I would love to see the illegal ball and the MaxFli straight ball go head to head. I will have to find a new video to post this on, but just in case you happen to see this. Thanks a lot, Mate! I love that the channel has blown up over the last few years. You and the three amigos (Finch, Fryer, and Carter) have reinvigorated my love for golf. I really want a home laugh monitor/simulator, but not sure what to get under $5000 US. Anyways, Than he from a big fan from Daytona Beach Florida. I'll be playing the LPGA course with some of my buddies this weekend. They all love you too, man.

I have used these almost exclusively for the last year. They do make bad shots slightly less bad I can attest to that. And I actually don't find them to be rocks. I have used balls that are much harder. Really, thanks for reviewing them Rick because I kept wanting someone to.

Yes Rick I would love to see more amateurs doing testing on big platforms and I know I am in the majority because I read that comment consistently on RUclips golf channel‘s comments sections. Thank you for testing and affordable ball. Maxfli is owned by Dick‘s sporting goods here in the USA the straight fly ball is usually on sale for 30 bucks for two dozen

  • @golf_doc8012

I think that giving the straightfli ball to a group of amateurs to test is a great idea. Last fall I tested the Maxfli straightfli against the Maxfli softfli, for feel and touch around the green. I did notice that they (straightfli balls) are have a harder feel than the softfli balls. This spring i will test for direction (straight flight). BTW, In the U.S. these balls are available for ~$20/dozen (2 dozen for $35) at Dick's Sporting goods or Golf Galaxy, a bit cheaper than amazon @~$30/dozen. thanks for testing them.

My buddy and I each bought these new StraightFli balls based on your review.
This was our first day out this year, no driving range before, going in absolutely cold after not playing since Mid-Octobee 2021. And I just have to say they are AMAZING. There was absolutely a noticeable improvement in my shots. Dead straight down the middle on a clean shot.
As long as these are available I will be buying them, they are the only ball I will use moving forward.

My golfing partner found one of these yesterday on the 11th hole. I was hooking my driver all round and the previous 4 rounds. He gave me the ball. We both scoffed at the straghtfli logo.
I tee'd it up on the next short 290 yard par 4 mostly bc I didnt want to lose any more ProV1s. I hit a straight 295 yard drive just right of the green. I laughed like Rick. The ball flew straighter than any drive I've hit for months and continued for the next 4 driving holes. I bought six dozen at my local Dicks and can't wait to play again.
