- We continue our tour around the island until Marijke arrives in St. Anne after flying back from Holland. We join the rest of the World Odyssey fleet in marina Le Marin to prepare for the next crossing to Panama.
Just want to say "Thank You" for your beautiful videos. You really have your own style, relaxing, calm and almost unspectacular. This leaves a lot of room for the magnificence of the scenic shots and the beauty of the sea. I'm enjoying this A LOT. 🙌

Awesome that you are documenting your trip and what its like to sail these boats. Thankyou. Great footage.
On those lighter boats its only fast when you choose to apply the power or need it in the real light conditions. The rest of the time you make same/decent speeds with smaller sails, less loads and less tech. The Outremer 55 has found a great balance and amazing design but does need some pretty high end gear and reasonably high loads to make the speeds you do. I would be super keen to hear your prospective if you ever get a chance to sail a
We already learned on our L52S that weight has very positive sides as well, for instance in motion comfort both in heavier seas and when moored. Different concept of course but not if you compare it to a Lagoon 39 and 42.
Of course the shape and weight of the L52S made it slower and less versatile than any performance cat.
In terms of space and weight the Outremer 55 seems to be exactly on the sweet spot for our personal goals and preferences.
Any lighter would only give more speed but would in return ask for concessions we’re not willing to do as liveaboards sailing around the world.
And there will always be a faster boat anyway….
Great drone shots. Surya may be 5 foot longer but it almost impossible to tell in the videos, unlike with you and Spekeend but all of you seem to go just as fast.😎👍

Not yet anyway, we tried to set it up with the Belgian supplier of ours but it was too complicated as we’re not in the Erikvanderaa numbers yet 🤣

How that wanna be "sailor" got more than 170k subs and several sponsors ( late also H-H) is understandable.
We’ll he does sail in areas where you could definitely use proper clothing
How does the 5X preform compared to youre 55.. If you loaded the boat about the same (for stability) and used the same sails. Is the 5X as fast as it is made out to be...?
This is probably not a question moste people care about. But to me it is important do to the cost of a 5X. Is the 5X what it is made out to be... You are sailing with such a boat... What is youre opinion... Thanks.
In the end the 5X is faster than a 55
