It’s funny and kind of ironic that in the lead up to the release of TOTK, it was questioned if Zelda would be playable… now the tables have turned for the lead up to the release of EOW. 😅😂 ❤❤❤ … I’m very excited for this game and it’s great that we all get to theorise and speculate in the lead up to a new Zelda release… far more interesting than waiting for another port or remaster. I wouldn’t be surprised if the roles of Link and Zelda have just been straight up reversed and we only play as Zelda to save Link but I could be wrong?
I think it'd be great if Link was playable. You have both Zelda and Link in opposite realms working together to get to each other. Very similar to the first two Paper Mario games where you play as Mario (Zelda in this case) a majority of the time with little Peach (Link) segments after major events. I think it's also good for gameplay variety as Link will still play like he normally does
I think this idea would be very interesting especially if there was a way that both Zelda and Link would have to work together to manipulate each other's world/dimension so they could both help each other progress in their own world/dimension to eventually save Hyrule. It could be like a 70/30 or an 80/20 where Zelda would be the primary character and Link could be the secondary character. I guess we will all just have to wait until the game comes out but either way in my opinion this Zelda Echoes of Wisdom gameplay is looking amazing to me!
Pyoro’s leaking days are officially numbered. He opened his mouth to admit while being an employee of Nintendo Japan, something I had a feeling about it a year ago.
I have a theory that Link will be playable in the opening of the game. As we see in the trailer, you will play as Link to battle the darknuts and then you fight Ganon to save Zelda. After you beat Ganon, the rest is history: The rift appears and Link is taken, but Zelda escapes and now it is up to her to protect her kingdom.
I have a theory that Link will appear as an echo like you said, but I think he might be fully playable by a second player in a co-op mode. Perhaps only directly effecting the Princess Zelda player's save but bringing back goodies for the Link player's own Princess Zelda save. If that makes sense? I also suspect that the Link's Awakening amiibo might be used in some way to bring him into the game.
I think so to. Just look at the cover. Makes sense. Zelda overworld. Link darkworld (in some sense). We see link with two different swords here also (zeltic). I think ganon will have a pretty big role here as well(again cover)
MY guess is that link will be playable in certain sections of the game... has to open certain paths for Zelda in the underworld or something like that. Possibly as an echo but more then likely link is trying to make his way through the same way Zelda is; So they meet up but are kept separate via obstacles multiple times throughout the game.
I could see you playing as Link in the dark world, but I wouldn't count on it(based on the game's title)... unless if Zelda can help give Link some kind of advantage.. Like maybe Zelda can place tables in the dark world to help Link progress.
I could definitely see Link being this reoccurring boss or big boss towards the end. For the final boss, I definitely think the spear is their weapon, but maybe they also can copy items during the fight, and he summons a chain of mini bosses or something. That seems too extrapolated for a top down Zelda game but would be pretty epic imo! Im also really curious about the zonai like hood. Itd be super cool to see Zonai in EOW, but I think the actual race making an appearance is strictly in totk. I would love to be wrong tho!
there is a way to make link playable in this and it would be pretty awesome... if this game is the beginning of "zelda maker." bring back the dungeon creator from links awakening and instead of just placing dungeon rooms, allow creating the rooms themselves and using echoes you get in the main game to fill those rooms then those dungeons can only be played with link so you would still get some "traditional" "zelda-like" gameplay in this game. other than that i dont want to see link in this game other than as an enemy or imprisoned.
Well while I wanting the remake of the oracle games, I am happy that nintendo is releasing more 2D zelda games. Hope they release one with the traditional mechanics but with very interesting and original items for the dungeona
I think there will be a part of the game where tou switch to wherever Link is and have to take control of him for a puzzle or something that will affect the rifts in Zelda's world.
It would be another form of Dark Link. I think it would be insane if Dark Link was the true main villain of this game. He was the one who summoned a puppet of Ganon to draw Link in. Maybe, maybe not. Hopefully, we get to see Dark Link return in some form of way. I'm excited
Link and Zelda have a dinamic in all Zelda games OOT onwards. It makes sense that Link shows up thru the game and help Zelda, as Zelda has helped Link in previous games. The Dark Link theory is interesting, I can definitely see it happen.
The first time I watched the trailer my first thought was "what if they keeping it a secret and not giving it away in the trailer and link gets to help zelda from wherever he is and you swap back and forth between characters" it's probably just a good idea but probably not what is going on zelda will probably do everything until the end I think we will swap to link to kill ganon and it will be the end maybe haha guess we will find out in September. Either way I'm super excited to play it
I think in the beginning of the game you play Link to beat Ganon. A sort of prolog like in TOTK. And then maaaybe at the end you can switch between both to defeat the final boss Afterall they gave him a new sword and moves and it would be easy to implement as they can just take a lot of the necessary code from Links Awakening
Yeah, I would love to have Link as the 2nd playthrough where he is in a dark world. Like the idea of Skyward Sword where Zelda is supposed to be playable after Link defeat Demise but it's was scrap. Honestly, I think Link might be playable at the beginning, like it's shown at the beginning of the trailer. So, I do like to believe that Link would be playable like normal at the 2nd playthrough or DLC. If it not happening, that's okay, I'll stick to Link's Awakening remake.
Interesting take... i think id like that over just having him as a secondary playable character in a dark world or whatever. Very much dig that theory man
Yeah I like it too, good video Andres, it might explain why sword is different on box art than in the intro fight with Ganon. Box cover art is "possessed Link" in the rift who has a slightly different sword. There is no way Nintendo would make the sword slightly different " by accident" I think, they are so meticulous with Zelda franchise, I think the sword being different is a hint that something is going on with Link when he enters the rift.
Your thoughts about Link just upset me! Mainly because Nintendo lost an opportunity with this game. It could have been two interconnected games. Nintendo could have done a Link protagonist game where the beginning of this game is the end of that one. The very first part of the trailer could have played as the end credits up to where Zelda is standing on the cliff looking out over Hyrule. Then they could have had The Legend of Zelda apppear first followed shortly by Echoes of Wisdom with the screen going blank and the coming soon popping up.
This map is based on the link to the past map and that map has a whole map of the dark world in it. I wish it was you switching between link and Zelda. Link stuck in the dark world doing things that help Zelda in Hyrule and vice versa with Zelda doing things that help link to continue in the dark world.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure we're going to fight Puppet Link. I don't think he will be playable. Echo theory.. hmm maybe.. if you can copy the bosses then maybe.
I would much prefer if Link were the only playable character, like he has been for over 30 years. Is anyone asking to play as another character in Metroid? No? I didn’t think so. Why is it so important for the hero of this series to be replaced in a game?

We should've gotten a Zelda 1 remake instead of this kiddie Looney Tunes or Tom and Jerry like shit! I'm all for creative gameplay and a playable Zelda (I guess) in The Legend of Zelda, but not if the creative gameplay is only thing we do in the game. I need my combat! I wouldn't be surprised if the next 3D Zelda is another kiddie puzzle game like this. And if it is, I'm done!

Yes, of course, zelda’s gameplay looks soooo BORING. We all want some battle gameplay

Legend of minecraft. It's so sad to see the series die before our eyes.
Link as an Echo seems to simple. way to simple. doesn't fit his merits at all
The game hasn't even launched yet and people are already thinking about it lol
That happens with every game, though.
Dude don’t over think this links role will be the damsel in distress that needs to be rescued
The sword is key its not the master sword.. so maybe link will have to acquire it..
Legend of minecraft. Aonouma has lost the plot.
Idk but this game looks sooooo BORING
I don't think link will be playable.
