I fell for Gavin when I was 16-- 21 years ago now. There will never be another tenor whose voice moves me like his did. So grateful for being able to meet him, but once, but twice. RIP
Dear Gavin...Thank you for your constant light, love, and the way you moved hearts and minds with your talent and passion for art and equity. You are deeply missed. Sing with the angels, rest in peace. Aloha.
I had the pleasure to be in the audience for this beautiful performance. To add some context to those who were not there, Seth's shows are a combination of "fireside chat" with lots of singing. Just before this song, Gavin spoke fondly of his experience working with Bette Midler in "Hello Dolly." His slight lyric change "and every time I've held 'The Rose'" was clearly an intentional nod to Bette. You can see his smile and 'wink' to the audience making that connection. Bravo Gavin and Seth!
Except for 2:16 this is the most close to perfect rendition of the song I have ever heard. I love that he takes it up higher at the end but softens the attack so it sounds like a sigh at "you can have this heart to break". Masterful phrasing.🤩
Here after hearing about Gavin’s passing today. He will be so missed ❤

Thank you, Gavin. You elevate every song you sing to a spiritual event. Gone too soon, way too soon. Fly with angels.
