Factual error- they weren't demoted. They ceased to exist, a new club was formed and applied to enter the professional leagues. Entry was granted despite not meeting the qualifying criteria (3 years audited accounts) and they entered the 3rd division.

Calling Rangers Europa league run a failure is extremely stupid
From a financial standpoint, it isn’t stupid at all. On-the-pitch success oftentimes has no correlation whatsoever with off-the-pitch club health.
WD From a financial standpoint it was an additional £15/20m that hadn’t been budgeted for.
How is that a failure from a financial perspective?
Great achievement for the new club
They qualified and went straight out. Give me 1 reason why that went well.
Rodgers Gaming first time in Europe in years, 100 times better than the year before failure. No one expected them to make it and if not for an incorrect offside call in Russia they’d probably be through. Also in a group with European regulars
And to top it all off is that Rangers supporters let liquidation happen. Sat back and done nothing to save their club. They shout about no surrender, follow follow, yet they couldn't follow each other to Ibrox to save them from the humiliation of being liquidated. Cheated their beloved queen and countless ordinary folk like a face painter out of money. All in all they got what they deserved.

There is no new Rangers. It’s the same Rangers

@@thescrout9831the newco had to purchase the licence from oldco it wasn’t transferred it was bought, strange how you have to buy something from yourself if it’s the same club

Oh yes they did, they couldn't play in Europe for first 3 year, granted they were in lower leagues, UEFA rules state club must be minimum 3 years old to play in Eourpe, if it was same licence they could but wasn't, also look at their very first game in bottom division, they played under the name 'Sevco' as they couldn't use the old club name as liquidators owned it and still do , hence they became ' The Rangers' once they got the new licence from SFA a few weeks later
Rangers were not demoted, a new club was formed in their place and applied to join the lower leagues with the backing of the fans of the old club
Ehm, no. The SPL had a vote on whether to allow Rangers to stay in the top flight or not, with only Kilmarnock abstaining from the vote. Essentially the same old shit with Scottish football that is run by Celtic. Same thing happened with them in 1994 but they weren't punished as harshly and the same criticism isn't upheld even though they had debt that still hasn't been 100% sorted as well.

Brooks Mileson is a hero in Gretna. He didn't just pour money into our football club, he brought our community together. The beginning of the end for us was when we decided to play our home games in motherwell once we reached the spl.
Quite horrific what happened with Gretna. I'm a English football fan following Exeter City, and I'm starting a project entitled 'Travesties of British Football' (ie, what happened with Bristol Rovers' ground, the fate of Third Lannark, etc) and I'd be interested if anyone would like to contribute.

Unbeaten champions this season.
Very impressive.
How could a club formed in 2012 have risen and fallen. The new club was formed and they were allowed entry in to the lowest division in Scottish professional football, even though they played a game or two without a licence. The suits at the SFA granted this even though they did not meet the necessary criteria. They were liquidated after a CVA was rejected, primarily by HMRC, who were owed millions in various taxes and penalties for Paye etc. The Paye that was due mainly on the salaries of the players, the same players who won the trophies, so, in effect, all that the players won was confined to the history books when the liquidation was rubber stamped.
It’s freaky how Rangers story of financial trouble is identical to Liverpool’s under Hicks and Gillette. The only difference being that Liverpool survived the threat of administration.
Relegated??? No, they were not relegated, they formed a new club and ENTERED the Scottish 4th division
They were demoted to bottom tier as punishment. So what your saying a new club has took over another dead clubs history , badge , stadium and claim to be that club? That would be pretty stupid would it not ? There obviously the same club .
@@jimnasium8902 When Newco Rangers formed, they tried to enter directly into the SPFL and replace Oldco Rangers, if they were the same club, why did the old Rangers get a vote on this new entity, in the early stages of the new club forming, there was still a different club called Rangers in the top flight. No one punished Rangers. The SFA doesn't have the authority to send someone down to Division 4, if they were the same club they would have entered where the old Rangers left off. But they didn't, because THEY ARE NOT THE SAME.
@@andrewrodgers8596 the rest of the spl clubs had a vote wither to keep rangers in the top flight , new clubs don't get that privilege . The vote happened because it's the same club .

Brendan half of the things he says in this are completely false.
Only a club like Rangers could start again at the bottom of the forth tier and come back stronger. It's been a struggle, but we're back competing again domestically and in Europe. Which incidentally, was very successful. We had to get through 4 qualifiers and had been the underdogs in our group. So to almost get out of it by taking it to the final game is quite an achievement. Domestically we haven't been brilliant, but neither has anyone else this season so everything is still wide open.

Words which are thrown around a lot are "demotion" and "relegation" neither of which happened, a new club was formed and existed at the same time as the former club was placed into liquidation. The new club applied to join the entry level stage of the lower leagues and this was granted as the old club was wound up.
As it is, apparently, the most successful club in the world and the best support in the world surely a whip 'round could have been held to stave of liquidation. Instead the fans allowed their club to go to the wall safe in the knowledge that their pet journalists in the Scottish media would spin the story to play on the Rangers fans sense of perpetual victimisation, it was all someone else's fault, pretty much anyone would do, at one point they appeared to marching against pretty much anyone they perceived to be an enemy, the BBC etc, and claims were made that the Scottish government should pay their debt, no real reason for this was ever given, they clearly felt that because of who they were they should never be allowed to fail, even when all of it was a downfall of their own making.
David Murray jumped ship to save his own skin selling the club to Craig Whyte for £1, we were told here by the media that he had "wealth off of the scale". If anyone can believe that no due diligence was done re Whyte prior to the sale I have a bridge you may be interested in buying. Since then the club has gone through a succession of spivs and wide boys in charge with the current owner being called "a glib and shameless liar" by the judge when on trial in South Africa for 322 charges including fraud, racketeering, money laundering and tax evasion, he took a plea bargain and plead guilty to 41 charges of tax evasion. The club has no line of credit with banks as they're seen as a basket case with a dodgy owner so not much has changed in the last seven years.

Brilliant videos can you do one on the rise and fall of Swansea City
Perhaps in Swansea's case that should read: rise 70s-1982,dramatic fall 1982-86,rise again 2003-12,and slight fall again since 2017.
Genuinely curious how anyone could dispute that ebts gave rangers an unfair sporting advantage. Whether its legal or not it was cheating
Because if it's legal it's not unfair. It's really not a difficult concept. If a company, not necessarily a football club, have an avenue to reduce costs legally, it's the director's fiduciary responsibility to do so. The scheme was perfectly legal at the time and so to retrospectively change the goal posts is simply not fair, regardless of your ethical opinion on the scheme in the first place.
I do find it amusing the moral crusaders within Scottish football, especially those within Celtic, who also operated a tax evasion scheme via a false film production company loophole. That scheme hasn't been investigated by HMRC yet.
So I would ask the question, is moral compass dictated to by timing or clever documenting? With Scottish football it would certainly seem so.
I fully support the use of EBTs, taxation is theft. Deficit spending on the other hand is a good way to go bust.
Funny how it’s only Celtic fans in the comments. Obsessed.
Why the fuck would a sevco fan comment on this video?! " We luv watching youtube vids of us fucking ourselves"
Still the most successful team in football
They weren't demoted. They went into administration then ceased as a business. A new club took their place in the form of "The Rangers" and they were PROMOTED into the bottom professional league, when no other club would have been in the same situation. The Scottish football authorities along with The Rangers continue to pretend that they're the same business and club as the old one, without the legal and financial liabilities of the old one. But they're not fooling the rest of us.
Happy to clear things up.
Rangers weren’t demoted. A fundamental mistake everyone makes. They were liquidated, ceased to exist and a new club had to apply to join the league system.

Great content! But please consider voluming up the narration part, because its really silent
The demise of Rangers also saw a HUGE loss of quality of football in Scotland, and especially Celtic. When Rangers were demoted, Celtic had no team to push them, so their form in Europe worsened.
Yep the Scottish Premier League is now a farmers league.
@@runrafarunthebestintheworld If it was specifically for farmers then yes it would be. But it isn't, so it's not.
People can't seem to accept that the rivalry is beneficial to Scottish football, having one team dominate ruins any league. Look at Ligue 1, the supposedly 5th best league in the world.
Nice to know you've done your research. Compare the European record of Celtic while Rangers were in liquidation to before and after. Then edit your comment.
@@Roscododger Yes. Well done for that one win over Barcelona...
🎵we’ll do the huddle when Rangers die🎵🍀🍀🍀

Rangers 1872-2012 Liquidated....... RIFC founded 2012 , burned their way through £300m and won fuck all .
As a celtic fan, glad to have rangers back. Of course I was happy they fell so hard because I despise the team but after a while I realised the Scottish league was never the same without them to contest us for top spot. Every team needs its rival and Im glad the blue-nosed arseholes are back 😆
Probably the worst thing a think av ever read
Bobby sands didnt die for this shite
I thought the league was better with deidco deid!
Well said anton
Just a small correction; there was no "demotion to the lower leagues" as stated at the beginning here. The old club/company were liquidated and ended.
A new club/company was formed and they started in the old Scottish Division 3.
Small (but important) footnote: both club and company are one in the same under UK Law. Meaning, if one ceases to exist, so does the other.
You seem to know a lot about rangers, you must be a big bluenose
@@earleyaiden My, how did you guess. You ought to be predicting the EuroMillions results with those smarts..(!) 😂 Nah mate, I'm just a simple man who likes to keep things accurate. 😎
@@Johnniebhoy83 You must have an occupation in law of some kind you seem to know the ins and outs of the legal system
@@earleyaiden Not an occupation, more an education. 🙂

U can't buy assets from a club which their ownership has already been liquidated
Sean TM exactly why the old co Remains and uefa and fifa gave the verdict that way, no actual assets were liquidated the club just went into the process and was bought, effectively just a takeover by a company rather than made a different thing, hence why rangers still exist and so do the titles
So sad to see half of the panel with no loyalty to fans or club and just think about the money, eughhh!
It is a team living on borrowed time . They will kill themselves trying to stop the TEN. Then like zombies they will rise from the dead .
Green Machine will it fuck come
4 in jail 🚪🔓
Down come the Rangers, up come the Sevko
Down come the septic up come the bheasts your so sued yyyeeesss
You should do one about the link between Brazilian players and Shakhtar Donetsk
He has one
Shows the problem with football in general. In general the wealthier teams do better, which leads to more money and it’s an endless cycle where small clubs can only have success over a couple years before the big clubs snatch up the teams
00:25 Scottish 3rd division, League 2 which is Scotland’s 4th division
It was called the 3rd division when they died
Steven snd a probably wouldn’t off know cause I was only 5 when it happened
In don't mind them finding ways to avoid paying taxes. The less for government and bureaucratic systems, the better.
Your no rangers anymore
The fall and pies of sevco!
