Not sure you can really pump a 2+1 effectively, so in smaller waves I'd be more inclined to go with the single fin so you have less drag and make more speed easily. Putting side bites back in you really notice the extra drag, but on a bigger wave you have more than enough power to overcome that drag and might even find that drag offers more control.
