Yeah, looks like he got The Lion's share. He's obviously great but you don't get that kind of wave count without being really fit/strong. (And knowing the spot like the back of your hand doesn't hurt. )
I grew up watching Skip Frye surf and as a grom patterned my style after him, Nat Young and Billy Hamilton. Man, Devons style is so clean and smooth. I could watch him surf all day.

Love this. I've been on a 7'1 mid twin for a few months now and have been realizing I need to slow down and stop trying to surf it like a shortboard. It's a hard habit to break. Love watching Devon's foot movements between transitions. Cheers!
I've been riding my 7'6" CI Mid a lot more recently - I'm loving it. The glide this board has and the acceleration it produces on a squirty bottom turn makes me laugh. It doesn't grovel well, but for my local beach breaks around Encinitas, CA when it's 3-7ft this board catches and rips though so many waves with ease. (I'm 6'3" 220lbs)
About your size with wide shoulders...getting back into it after an injury and much physio. Got an XXXL rip curl 4/3 full over late summer at outlet on sale for cheap...was snug then (salesperson said would stretch). However, couldn't quite even zip it up a few weeks ago...bummed out. Gotta get back out there soon. What size wetsuit works 4 you?

I bought Slater's Boss Up and am just getting used to it BUT this CI looks more of what I'd prefer to ride. Oh well, it's only money !

What will you choose. Surf well rounded with smooth style and precise rail work or put one foot on the tail and one on the nose and hop up and down until you reach the end section. Grow up kids get on a real board ,give the 5'8 to your unborn son.
tbf , not everyone surfs a mid like DH , most just stand mid board and straight line em to the beach , for most people their just convenient stabilisers for mediocre surfers
