My brother asked me to bead his grad cap🤗 I'm nervous, scared but yet excited! You make it look so easy. I haven't started yet so I'm hoping it's as easy as it looks😂 I've never beaded one and this is my biggest project😳😱😊 thank you for this video
Realistically, if using the same size beads and the sides of your cap are of equal length, you may not necessarily need to restart in the center every time. Assuming you maintained the same pattern on all sides, just copy it going “backwards” up the pattern from that first corner and it should come out basically the same-if’n yer trying to save extra steps and all. But that is why I like watching different folks make things on the RUclips, everyone has little different ways of doing things! Good nuggets to be found everywhere!

I'll probably have to do it myself
Appreciate the tutorial. What ever fee i charged for my work ….especially the fee you mentioned……… I would have to make BOTH my placement lines ….top and under neath very, very accurate! Not a sewn line ……my preference would be a soft chalk line…….☺️ That way ALL the beads would be on an even line and look very, very straight! ☺️
Did you just muscle through the cardboard? Or did you use an awl or some kind of tool? I've seen where folks use a sewing machine to set that border and then use those holes as a guide. But I can't get my hands on a sewing machine until the end of the week lol.
This grad cap is foamcore. The needle goes through pretty easily. I do have a piece of leather with some bandages over it as a kind of thimble to push the needle through. My finger would definitely get sore without it!
@@twowolfstudio538 Oh I see.....this one I'm working on has 2 pieces of cardboard and they're really thick. So I was having issues with it lol. I have an awl, it was just really hard to get into a rhythm with it since it was awkward. But I finally found my groove haha.....thanks for the reply 😊
I'm beating my granddaughters graduation cap but the beads are bulky should I use a smaller bead I really need help here this is my first hat and a graduation is 10 days away
Are graduation caps all the same size or do they veriey in sizes ? What size is this one your worked on ? If you don't mind me asking or did I miss this part
I will poke the needle through close to the beaded edge and tie it off. Then I cut the threads pretty close to the knot. Since i use nylon thread I can singe the loose ends down with a lighter. Cotton thread will not do this. Nylon thread melts. Are you on Instagram? I have a tutorial posted on this otherwise next beading project I start I’ll show how this is done in a new video here

Ok, so i think what she does is lay the tape down as a straight-edge, then she tightens the fabric and tacks the fabric down in that straight line right above the top edge of the tape. Peel the tape off and now she has smooth fabric and a thread guide to keep the bead edges even. Cool.
Typically Native American people get their graduation caps beaded and yes, pay 100 to get it done by a bead worker. It takes many hours to bead one. Thanks for watching 🙂
People pay thousands for a wedding dress that they'll wear for likely less time. Never under change just because someone else doesn't like a price. Beading takes many hours and time is important to be compensated, not just supplies. If they don't like the price, they can sit there for 8-10 hrs+ and make it themselves.
