      2003 served as a proof the 1999 run that he led at age 23 is no fluke.
      He justified the "asterisk" Title by winning it all again in 2003, no less at the expense of Phil (who called the "asterisk"), Shaq ("WNBA team"), and Kobe's ("maybe we will sweep them again") swagger by dethronement.

    From '99 to 2013 we met the Lakers seven times. I'll never forget how heated this rivalry was. It turned to a war after the spurs sweep in '99. So from 2001-2004 it was a hard brutal match up. For both teams. Duncun was incredible so was manu but we got to see Kobe at his absolute best. I'll never forget it. Beating them in '03 making them cry on national t.v. was like winning another title within itself the lakers we're undefeated in the playoffs during that entire three peat going into thier would be fourth only for the Spurs to end it. And we win our 2nd and on Daves last year. Than steve kerrs dramatic game winning shots, It was truly a perfect season that I'll never forget.

      No disrespect to Udonis Haslem (btw, he was in Spurs summer league/training camp roster in 2003 until found a spot in Miami), but that is why DRob50 is one of basketball greats while Haslem is great in Heat standards.
      I don't think Robinson sees himself as a coach or player development staff. Like Timmy, both knew when it is over and they're willing to leave once their careers are up and done while letting the team grow and flourish in their absence.

    Second Title is critical to San Antonio more than we knew.
    Imagine a cringing thought the Spurs went home early. David Robinson retired, then Tim Duncan reconsidered his future elsewhere. As usual, the Spurs kept the "serious urgency" within so to stave off media and public pressure/scrutiny and thankfully they clinch the franchise's 2nd Larry.
    J-Kidd admitted he got "cold feet" so he re-signed in NJ, but his mind and heart tells he wants to play for the Spurs.
    It is definitely a win-win for both camps, with the Spurs had stronger chance to win 2004 and 2006.
    But it didn't happen, so back to reality.
    Gratefulness sets in, although how I wish the TNT trio of Marv, Mike, and Jeff covered the 2003 NBA Finals instead.
    Bill Walton's commentary is too much to bear. Or ABC should underwent a last-minute dismissal then hired Hubie Brown.

    I think you lose almost all the weight of Kerr's G6 when you skip over the rest of the series.
    If you had to be quick about it start at G1's loss (just show Duncan's missed FT's and nothing else if you're speed-running this docuseries). You can jam the Spurs winning game 2 3 4 AND a mention of Dirk's injury into a ~30 second Spurs highlight montage, and then begin to take some time with games 5 and 6. Show the Spurs cruising to a Finals berth up 17 early in the 3rd Q of G5. The crowd celebrating, high-fives being thrown, we're going back to the Finals and then.. "inexplicably, they wilted" (shoutout 2007 championship DVD).
    Show the Mavericks comeback in G5. Don't short it. The 2007 championship DVD did it tastefully for G4 of the Suns series and in only 30 seconds. Next show the rabid Mavs crowd in G6 (they were rowdy af). Show the Mavs threatening to blow out the Spurs in the 3Q of G6, talk about Tony's food poisoning at that time, nobody wanting to go back for a G7 in SA after being up 3-1, and THEN Kerr.
    If time is really that valuable you could even skip all of games 1-4, but at the very least show the Spurs setting course for the Finals in G5. As it was done the episode BEGINS with the collapse of G5. At least show the Spurs build-up in that game! Show ANY of G6 prior to Kerr checking in.
    It's hard to even say this episode was rushed because it spent 4 minutes talking about Kerr's G6. I think emotionally it would have landed better to dedicate more time building the tension of the series preceding that moment even if it's at the expense of people fawning over Kerr for 3 minutes. As a whole I love the series but I think Kerr's G6 should have been documented differently and it would have actually made Kerr's performance feel even more significant. You can spend less time talking about the moment and make it feel even larger by establishing the preceding tension better.

    • @eddietheaggie2010
      @eddietheaggie2010 Год назад

      Don Nelson slowed SA down big time in game 1 with "hack-a-bruce," too. And there was an outside chance of Dirk maybe even trying to come back and play if a game 7 happened. The pressure was ON big time after SA blew it in game 5 allowing dallas to comeback. The way the mavs were playing in game 6, it almost felt as if they'd figured San Antonio out. And, in a way, they HAD. There was no way they'd have been able to account for (of all people) Steve Kerr coming off the bench that way. I don't think Kerr had played more than 10 minutes the entire PLAYOFFS, and certainly not in that series. An ambush for the ages that absolutely saved SA. It does lose some of the gravitas without proper context. We HAD to have that game 6, or there wasy a real possibility it would have all unraveled.
