The problem with these Italian gloves is the beautifully made Austrian competition Racer High Racer gloves, which SportsBikeShop also sells. Tony did an excellent video review of his High Racer gloves. IME, Racer High Racer gloves have more comfort and feel (kangaroo leather palm) and better protection (two palm sliders, a proper finger-bridge, and they don’t use outdated aramid stitching) than Dainese’s Full Metal gloves. My Racer gloves last seemingly forever, unlike my old Dainese.
That said, I’m pleased to see Dainese has upgraded these gloves with the advent of the Full Metal 7. The old Full Metal 6 gloves were only CE Level 1-KP, whereas the new Full Metal 7 gloves achieved Level 2 protection.

I just brought this gloves and its a bit painful at the moment. It hurts mu knuckles on longer rides. Do you reckon this will get better as soon as it brakes in or should i go up a size? Its only the knuckles thats uncomfortable, so i hope it will widen a little bit with a bit of use.

It depends what you need to break in really. Sometimes armour is just in the wrong place for certain hand shapes and sizes and it'll never really ease. If you've used them already and can cope with a couple of hundred miles, I think you'll know by then whether they're improving and it's worth persevering. Thanks for getting in touch, and I hope that helps. Cheers, Tony

Hi Tony, how would you compare these to the Dianese Steel-Pro gloves in terms of overall protection. I do understand the use of steel vs. titanium, but are the Full Metal 6s safer?

The main differences that may make a difference, as far as I can tell, are the use of titanium for the knuckle and aramid-fibre thread in the Full Metal 6's seams. But I've heard differing opinions on whether aramid fibre stitching makes a glove stronger. From a personal perspective I would feel just as safe in the Steel Pro as the Full Metal 6. Thanks for getting in touch and I hope that helps. Cheers, Tony

@@sportsbikeshopThe new Full Metal 7 gloves look like a step up because they’re CE Level 2. Considering SportsBikeShop stocks a broader range of Level 2 gloves than other retailers, could we please have a video on the Level 2 gloves available? 🧤
