Imagine having a Dad who cares about what you like enough to sit down and let you inform them. I envy you bro.
his dad makes music lol
@@amustychickn doesn't negate the point. Just appreciate having good, present dad 🤷🏻♂️
Finishing up here. Kevin, you’re a great guy. Perfect balance of artsy fartsy existential crisis talk & youthful immaturity. Your insights don’t go unappreciated ✌🏻
I’m really trying to mature but something inside keeps pulling my back. Thx for the kind words :)
@@kevinfromttt Never change Kevin! Your mix of sincerity and humour is perfect. For me these videos go way past the music. I really hope when my son’s older I get to have a similar relationship with him.
@@SnoopLazeranake Thx Gary :)
@@SnoopLazeranake Ditto! You guys bond is amazing! Keep up
Waiting for Honeybear now 😭
Also a better album in my opinion, and bit more concise too.
i’d love to see that
@@vincevirtua Pure Comedy is a 10 imo ilyhb is like a 9+
I feel like Honeybear's compositions rise to the occasion of the lyricism a little better than this one, although both albums are great and Comedy is deeper lyrically. I think Honeybear is his best work overall, would love to see them react to that one.
Yesss, do for I love you Honeybear 🌼
Next an album I can recommend is “In the Aeroplane Over the Sea” by Neutral Milk Hotel
Gotta polish off all the classics. Have to say I appreciate his music taste.
you're gonna have to do fleet foxes "helplessness blues" at this point. one of the best albums in the last 20 years imo
edit: also "i love you, honeybear" was fjm's apex
Andy Father John Misty was their original drummer, wasn’t he?!
@@andywkeith he was only their drummer for helplessness blues
@@very025 i believe he was on self titled too, because he joined in 2008, but i could be wrong. if he wasn't the recorded drummer on there, he was definitely part of the band right after. there's old videos of them singing songs walking through the city and he's there
@@andykndr Tillman joined the group after recordings for s/t had been completed, but before the album was released. Nicholas Peterson was the name of the original drummer.
Helplessness blues yes
I think this is my personal most underrated album. I’m so thankful y’all did a reaction to this. I’m glad y’all enjoyed!
I lost my dad in mid 2016 to cancer. 9 months later, Pure Comedy came out. It quickly became one of my favorite albums ever. It's perfect. I really would have loved to show it to him. So seeing this and his reaction to it, both warms and breaks my heart. More warms though. I think my Dad would've loved it. Thanks for this. Really.
Hi Chad so sorry for your loss. We are happy you find some warmth in this video. Take care ❤️
Josh Tillman's Masterpiece, Man i wish i saw him live during that tour.
I saw him in Atlanta during this tour. Fantastic show.
If you see an FJM show in your area, go to it. Every time I’ve seen him feels so fresh and fun.
@@stationarymovement23 was this at the tabernacle?
Just saw him last night, was simply amazing
Content as raw and unfiltered as the album itself, thanks for fixing RUclips a bit
One of the defining records of the 2010's that only gets better with age. So happy to see you guys experience it
As a father/son duo I would love watching y’all react to Sturgill Simpson’s A Sailors Guide To Earth. He wrote the album for his newborn son and included a lot of life lessons and perspective that we can all learn from. Incredibly diverse sound
I second this 😭
I actually showed this album to my dad too and he said he really liked it. He is a big Elton John fan and drew a lot of similarities
Omg he really sounds like elton john
A pretty cool inspiration for Radiohead was Talk Talk’s Laughing Stock (1991)
I have to agree. Laughing Stock is an album I try to show to anyone interested in music. Huge inspiration for a lot of bands.
@@georgebushdid911 Laughing Stock is great. Although I’ve always been one of those weirdos who prefers Spirit of Eden, but After The Flood is a god tier song.
@@skttrbrain2513 Totally with you on Spirit of Eden. Also Mark's S/T record. Too bad the pressing is shit. RIP to a tender soul.
One of the most beautiful albums ever
Most special album of all time for me.
Great choice fellas. Fr John Misty is hugely underrated
Thanks for posting! Misty is shockingly underrated. He’s such a musical guru.
It puts a smile on my face to know you can share this music with your dad and have it appreciated so much, I live in family where this music would be frowned upon and I yearn for the day I can show this to my son.
my god this is wholesome. love watching these late after work. keep em up!
Honestly, I don’t mind if you were to do videos here and there based off your own suggestions, Pure Comedy is actually a personal favorite of mine, Great Video 👍🏽 :D
We need that Black Midi Cavalcade next tho
This was a nice surprise, I’m glad you’re listening to albums based on personal favourites as well as requests. I was lucky enough to see FJM live, and he was absolutely phenomenal, ushering people out of their seats to come closer to the stage and just being a great entertainer. Massively recommend seeing him live if you ever get the chance and haven’t already!
You two have such a natural dynamic and every one of these videos reminds me of listening to albums outside by the fire with my dad. Keep it up guys.
As someone that had a hard and distant relationship with his Dad, i adore this, your chemistry and openness with each other is just as beautiful as it is admirable, i hope to have a relationship as good as this with my kids one day
Thank you both for the content
Stumbled across this video and halfway in I just started to cry. Why?
- pure comedy is an emotional album
- that I haven't heard in a while
- because I got tired of listening to it alone and I have nobody to share it with that would care
- but hey at least I found you guys
- and this is adorable
- and I miss my dad
I had a similar reaction, you're not alone.
same feelings
One of my favorite artists and albums I’m soo happy you guys did this! 🤍
So happy you reacted to this album, one of my favourites, makes me want to laugh and cry at the world we live in. Would love you to do LCD soundsystem at some point, Sound of Silver and/or this is happening would be great
thank you guys, im starting to do this with my mom as a bond and she’s super down for it. thanks a lot, much love.
A+ generation-bridge record.
You both seem to dig retro-flavored indie psych bummer pop, give Elliott Smith - From A Basement On the Hill a spin.
Would love to hear them do some Smith albums! Would suggest Either/Or and XO first, but any of them would be a treat.
has to be top 5 favorite albums all time, love these videos, especially when yall are outside and the audio is mixed well. you and your dad are great. keep it up! excited for TPAB i turned on my notifications lol
what a treat, this is the only album that I haven't heard of at all and I decided to check it out since I've watched the rest of your videos. This is an incredible album, happy to have discovered it via this channel!
Man… just recently got into FJM and remembered you guys had reacted to it. So glad that Kevin liked it and that you showed it to him.
i never comment but this channel is absolutely great, great selection of albums and such a great father son dynamic you guys are doing something special keep it up!
found your channel yesterday and decided to watch all your videos so far. Seeing you guys bond over music is amazing. I always wanted to have moments like these with my dad. But I am glad I can live those memories through these videos. I truly appreciate you both.
Ayden what a beautiful comment :) Thank you for watching and the kind words. Take care
You must be damn proud Daddio
Your kid has a fantastic taste in music and to see him share with you is very heartwarming 🤘🏻
Your guys work here really transcends the youtube reaction genre, your father and son relationship is so cool to watch and you both have great taste which doesn't hurt either, thanks for the videos.
You should do “You won’t get what you want” by Daughters. Seeing as you guys enjoy good lyricism and storytelling that one is a must.
DONT TELL ME HOW TO DO MY JOB
this episode was so cozy! having that fire in the back made me feel so comfortable
I absolutely love you guys and the conversations you have make this so entertaining and it’s really special to watch. I love the connection between you two. Thank you so much for this :) I also highly recommend any LCD Soundystem album! A good one to start with is maybe Sound of Silver or This Is Happening! I’m sure you guys would love it. Anyways, thank you again, and I’m very much looking forward to what you guys do in the future. You guys deserve so much more attention
I remember doing exactly this with my dad. These videos make me happy to be a human being to the exact level this album makes me tentative about being a human being. Both feelings are important, I think! So excited to see this channel grow, please keep it up.
I love this channel. You are your dad have such great rapport and your dad always adds so much of his thoughts. I lost my dad when I was young and I remember I went to Glastonbury while he was sick, he recorded it all of tv for me when when I got back, we watched it all together. Its beautiful to watch you two bond over these albums.
Hi Johny. My condolences to you and your family. Sounds like your father was a very special man. We are so happy we can bring you a little something through these videos. My dream is to go to Glastonbury someday.
Thank you 🙏 for watching
excited to see tpab next week. recently discovered you guys and its always super chill. reminds me a lot of my dad and i
I wish my dad was this cool. In all seriousness though, you're doing an awesome job with these videos, I'm getting a lot of enjoyment out of your impressions and discussions.
I always look forward to these videos
pure comedy is such an amazing album, and this video is great as always
Love these videos, great album. Keep it up!
This is just beautiful!
You guys remind me of why i love these albums! Cant wait to see his reaction to To Pimp A Butterfly. Keep up the great work!
Please do Sufjan Stevens - Illinois ! Briliant and epic album.
One of my top 5 favorite complete records. Thanks!
About halfway through the video but just wanted to say you two are amazing people to listen to and watch interact. Please stay true to yourselves and keep making these videos. This is really something special :)
I love these so much! I'm so happy about this one, I didn't know of this album and it sounds incredible. Can't wait for to pimp a butterfly :). Love your energy Kevin!
I've never heard of this at all until today. Thank you both for putting this out there! Now I got another album to listen to!
Hopefully you enjoy it as much as we did! :)
Just when I thought this channel wasn't going to get better, you throw in some Father John Misty. Keep it up!
Absolutely adore this video
I love y'alls commentary!
Great reaction, loved this, so wholesome.
Get so excited to see your new videos pop up, you guys choose great albums for live discussion!
Found the channel due to my love for Radiohead and Tool. Thank you for introducing me to such a beautiful album this time, not something I'd usually listen to but I've listened through twice now and I'm loving it
2nd time watching you guys listen to an album I didn't hear in full. Enjoyed A TON the emotional reactions, the jokes (bring 'em on!) and just the insight both of you bring to the table. Don't worry about the views, you keep listening, we keep watching. Just wanted to say that this particular reaction inspired me to grab pen and paper and come back to writing some songs, thank you so much! Also, now I'll definitely listen to the album in full lol.
I'm really waiting for the loveless reaction!
yes !
Hoping for isn't anything eventually
I love this channel already and this video was like the cherry on top
Thank you so much for introducing me to Father John Misty.
I was passively aware of him for a while but seeing this video pop up pushed me to finally listen to this album in full. It's fantastic! I'm definitely going to dig deeper into some of his other stuff too, probably starting with I Love You Honeybear.
Both of you have great personalities and I think you really captured lightening in a bottle with this series, can't wait for the next one! :)
Keep this series going, I really enjoy it
Thx dreamingpaper :)
I love your guys videos, and the records you pick are great! Keep it up!
In the same vein as father john misty, fleet foxes. Specifically helplessness blues would be a good jumping off point for first listeners
To Pimp a Butterfly next?? I can't wait!
I'm gonna be honest, I've never been a big fan of this album. But it just shows the quality of this channel and your chemistry that I'm more than happy to listen to 30 mins+ of you guys discussing an album I don't even care about, keep up the great work :)
I’ve been following your channel since the beginning, but I just now watched this video and I’m so grateful you covered this album. Father John Misty is undoubtedly one of the best song writers of this generation. I can’t believe I’d never listened to him. This album is a masterpiece. So happy this channel introduced me to him. I’m floating listening to this album right now.
this is one of my favourite albums as well. super nice to see it be covered! love that kevin got the humor and complexity in the lyrics
I used to listen to this album every night from its release and for about a year after...strangely enough, I threw it on this morning out of the blue after not hearing it for a while and here you are using it for the video...how weird! it's a masterpiece!
Such a great album pick bro!! Sooooo good love the channel! One love
God, I love this channel
i love reaction videos, father john misty, and dads so this is great.
Fun to see an album I love being experienced through the eyes of a new listener
This channel is amazing
I just want to say that this is a beautiful thing you two are doing. I grew up without my father so I don’t quite know what it’s like to share music, share stories, and laughs at corny dad jokes…but I feel like I’m getting to experience it vicariously through these videos. Thank you.
Hey Philip :) Thank you so much for the kind words. We are so glad you are enjoying these videos as much as we are. We are so touched by all the amazing comments about how these videos have brought some sort of happiness.
Thank you for your support and take care :)
Always felt kind of conflicted about this album. Some of the lyrics feel like platitudes to me, even though they're beautifully worded. But I just cannot deny that so many of these songs have a super profound impact on me every time I listen to them. So I'm Growing Old on Magic Mountain after the rest of all those songs just makes me feel like my heart stopped beating. Can't hold back the tears.
Really loved this vid. I felt like I was there with you guys. Wish I could talk as open-heartedly with my dad as you guys do.
LOVELESS!!!!!!!!!!! Nice! looking forward to it
Thanks for doing this guys. I hadn’t heard it in awhile. God’s Favorite Customer is great too.
But Pure Comedy is something special.
Chiming in to suggest King Gizzard one more time 👀
+1
VOUCH!
Best rock band of the 2010s but there are so many albums to choose from 😂 would probably suggest Nonogon
@@danielgreen2538 I would suggest Flying Microtonal Banana. That was my introduction to them and I still think it holds as a beautiful starting point. Nonetheless, Nonagon is my favorite from Gizz till this day.
microtonal banana or nonagon, or even sketches of brunswick would be great
Excellent choice! I love this album so much too! I watched the TPAB video first then this one and I hope you keep these up because you guys have excellent taste and appreciation for music and I look forward to re-experiencing things through you guys and being introduced to stuff I haven't listened to before either. :)
I’m so happy you guys did this album. It’s so relevant
Huge fan of this album too, man! I have memories of playing it with my own dad while we were on a road trip in Canada. We also heard Moondance by Van Morrison and The Velvet Underground's third album. Keep up the great content!
I love your videos, man! I love your taste in music as well.
So good guys 🖤 love this
This series is one of my new favourites! Too bad you can’t play full songs so we can enjoy along the whole time! You should do some FLEET FOXES! 🤘
Hell yeah, great reaction once again and you got me listening to this record for the first time in a couple of years. Love how your dad was digging into the lyrics - makes me excited to see how he’s gonna react to records like Madvillainy lol
So glad I finally got to watch this. An absolute gem of an album. Love hearing your thoughts about it! Thanks for sharing
Great reaction love this album a lot, love the analysis your dad gave to a lot of the songs !
100% buying this album, thanks for exposing me to it. Keep it coming with the great content 👍
One of my favorite albums as well man. you have great taste in music!
please never stop this channel, i love it. i love your dad, let me touch him
Somehow i really dig the webcam shots lol. Loved this one
Man you really have a great dad, make sure to cherish that all you can
Was so happy to see this album - one of my favs too. If you get the chance see FJM live one of the best concerts I have ever been to. Go live please, or post full stream!
Tomorrow is the 20th anniversary of Is This It - would love to see you guys review that one! Loving the videos!
I just stumbled upon your dad's reaction on In Rainbows and after that I binge-watched your whole channel. I love the energy you both display and the relationship you both have is awesome. I think a good album to react to would be Lift your skinny fists like antennas to heaven by Godspeed you! Black emperor. It's one of my favs and it's reaaaally transportative. Keep up the good work, bless.
I love this concept. I love thissss. This is my dream with my future son 😭🥲 to be able to hang out and just listen to an album with a drink.
Thank you for covering this! Pure Comedy is definitely on my top 3 albums of all time, and watching you guys be and fall in love with the record just as I did is really something special. Wholesome as always, looking forward to your future videos, no matter the music causs this content is great! Keep it up
Thx Jesper! This album has really become a favourite of mine. What’s your other two top albums ?? Thx for watching :)
@@kevinfromttt I'd say my other two are OK Computer (Radiohead) and The Wall (Pink Floyd), just due to the huge impact those albums has had on me both musically and "existentially" in important moments of my life! :)
@@jbzones08 The Wall is my favourite! Gilmour is my guitar hero. I’m not a fan of flying but if he does a show I will get on a plane to go see him :)
First started watching because of Radiohead, stayed because of you guys! Haven’t missed a reaction yet. Since watching you two, my mom and I have been sharing music together. Really amazing experience! Loving the albums so far.
Oh wow i didn't expect this one honestly nice
Hey you two, made me love this album, and I just bought it for my best friend.......keep doing what you're doing.
