I've said this before but UnderSparked is UnderRated, they're one of the only reddit channels which actually don't use some AI so it's entertaining to watch. Also the narrator gives his takes too which is nice, and they choose interesting stories to talk about too. I don't know how they only have 55k subs compared to other AI channels who have way more.

Well I mean, if you’re afraid of being “punished” for getting bad grades, either your parents are way too demanding, or you’re doing things other than school leading to you doing not as good as you could. Nonetheless, the baseline for this should not be fear, there’s nothing wrong with not being perfect, as long as it’s at least almost the best you could do.

Yeah, as long as it's a passing grade I have *NO* idea why some parents care so much. I'd only care about my kid being held back or something because that'd just make my kid suffer another year of bs, or even weekend/summer school which isn't fun for any kid.
Besides, i'd want them to *AT LEAST* have the option of college so they can go whenever they want for whatever they want to learn.

One time my cousins and I were talking about how annoyed we were that we had gotten in trouble and had been sent to bed early. We were absolutely slandering my mom and aunt. Eventually I looked over at the darkest corner of the room and saw a tall person shaped shadow and I screamed. My aunt had been standing there for AGES. We weren’t allowed to play on our DS anymore. 😭

That one time I got after school detention I thought my mom would kill me. It was one of the only times I was ever scared to go home. But my mom wasn't mad at all, and I still had to wrote some things for punishment and she sat with me and cheered me on the whole afternoon. I was in third grade. Never got after school detention again, luckily, but that day was traumatic for me.
Also that one time I thought I'd failed in a mathstest because I didn't manage to solve two or three of the questions. My mom told me that I should never be scared to come home because of grades, especially because I was a good student, and slip ups happen. She told me the worst thing that could happen was that she'd get me a tutor if my notes were consistently bad.
Ended up having a C, which is considered a good note in my country (It's basically mid. You pass with a C).
Gosh, I love my mom, she always made sure I knew I wouldn't get in trouble for stuff like that. My parents are just great parents, both of them, and while I did punish when I really did things wrong it was never unfairly so. Most punishments were just no tv or taking my Nintendo ds away for a few days, or staying in my room for a few hours, which I was fine with because I had my books and my toys and I liked being up there and play on my own anyways. So I barely ever was scared that they'd blow up on me or anything like that.

Story 15, I remember a lot of mistakes that my friends made with fireworks. The funny thing about that was that my grandfather was a demolition expert and I decided to 1 up my buddies. I got hold of some of grandpa's dynamite and boy was the neighborhood tense for a couple of weeks. Needless to say I woke up the entire neighborhood at about 15 minutes past 1 in the morning and the cops made the rounds of the neighborhood every 15 minutes for the next month. They never figured out who blew up the old community swimming pool (it was no longer in use as they had built a new one).

2007 and not in America, people weren't as accepting. School staff and principal had been trying to find excuses to get rid of me ever since they found out I was gay. I failed a class and despite having other students that failed 5 or more classes each year, they used that as an excuse to expell me (private school). I still remember getting sick to my stomach on my way home, thinking my strict parents, who already weren't that happy with me, would kill me.
I lived, but mum didn't talk to me for days, and she woudln't even let me help with the house chores cause she didn't wanna see my face.
Years later i told her what really happened and we're cool now, but yeah. That has been one of the scariest things in my life and I was sure they'd kill me.

I failed a major English test. 50% of the term are down the drain. And I'd had a good feeling that test. Thought it was good. Every 5th word had a mistake. It was a adjusted test and I still flunked it. It was bad.
I cried for the first and only time in school, because I thought my mom would yell at me. I've gotten in trouble for Ds in those big tests or Fs on minor tests already, but this was unprecedented.
My school friends comforted me, but I walked home that day with a heavy heart. I needed my mom's signature on that test anyway, so I told her immediately being honestly devastated.
My mom comforted me telling me that it was just a grade, that with some tutoring we could fix this. (I later got in trouble for not studying afterwards while slacking off.)
My professional Latin tutor became my English tutor. Then the next test rolls around and I'm nervous as hell getting it back. Opened it up to find a B-, my second best English test ever.
Then final grade talks. I had a high grade F and a B putting me in between a D+ and a C-. Oral participation now decides. I was very quiet, didn't interrupt, but also didn't say much to further class.
My teacher could have screwed me over without me being able to argue against it, but she gave me the C. That's when I realized. My super strict teacher didn't WANT to give us bad grades, but she would only give us grades we deserved. She became my third favorite teacher after that for her fairness.
I still never got better than a C later. Couldn't interpret for the life of me, but my mistakes were at 0.25% at least.

I was biking my friend back to his house after he had to leave and he asked me to stay at his house until I had to leave too and I agreed, but I told him I had to tell my parents. And then suddenly, he only needed to show me something when I go to call my parents to tell them where I am. I check the clock, and an hour and a half passed. I panicked and ran out of the house, hopped on my bike and bolted home. But right as I turn onto my street, I saw my dad standing in the middle of the sidewalk. I swear my life flashed before my eyes. He practically dragged me into the house and then I saw my mom, ready to call 911 to report me missing. Both my parents were mental. My sister was scared of them and she had nothing to do with any of it. Oh boy was I told off that day.

I was working on an online course to create a Minecraft mod. Well, when test running my progress, I caused a bug so bad it "Opened the Debug Mode Perspective" which I learned when I later replicated a similar bug. But I didn't know what the Debug Mode Perspective (DMP) was so when I tried to close out of Minecraft and my code editor was a bunch of random green text I was confused. Nothing I found to click, even shutting down and restarting the computer, changed it. Eventually I had the idea that I could delete the code editor then bring it back and it wouldn't be in the DMP anymore. Well, I did this but as soon as it was gone, I realized I didn't know how to bring it back, so I had made a boner. I actually started crying at the computer desk. I had no choice but to wait till my mom got home to tell her. Worst part was it was a school night, and I shouldn't have even been on the computer. Well, she wasn't too angry and said we would look at it the next day. So, the next day I tried to log into the course, and it made me reapply the creating account login page (no password change needed though) and it brought the code editor back! It was still in the DMP, but I was much less screwed. I showed mom what it was doing, and she looked at it for an hour or so while I went to start my homework. She then called me over and showed there was a button hidden below the Close button in the code editor window that let you toggle between the normal display and DMP. It was fixed! I was then grounded from the computer until the next weekend. Was a fun class though, Mod Design 1 and Mod Design 2. 10/10 would recommend.

When I was 6 years old I tried to explain to her about how I felt about myself. Her immediate reaction was to punch me so hard I flew out of the living room, into the bathroom and body slammed the cast iron bath tub. I was stunned, literally, wobbled back into the living room thinking in a child's way that she must have misunderstood me so tried to explain again. She finished dressing my little sister, came over punched me twice causing me to collapse on the floor. She instantly picked me up and threw me across the living room onto a side table where I landed on photos in frames and nick-nacks, several breaking. She went berserk yelling LOOK WHAT YOU DID! and began pounding on me for I don't know how long. I awoke the next day, in bed, bandages on several parts of my body, unable to move. My mom came into my room and kept telling me it's all my fault and not to look at her. She had to put a bed pan under me to relieve myself and she fed me by hand for several days. I was terrified. I was supposed to start kindergarten but my mom told the school district that I was very sick and bed ridden and couldn't go so I was held back for a year. Every time I heard the school bus come to our rural house out in the middle of nowhere I pleaded in my head for the bus driver to come in and find me. After several days of laying in bed in pain and not able to get up I asked my mom if she was going to kill me. She looked at me with so much hate burning in her eyes and said, That's up to you, isn't it? I never loved or trusted my mom ever again and always felt that she would kill me if she could, still do to this day. I look forward for the relief of her no longer being alive, even though I don't have anything to do with her she's still out there and she means me no good.

When it comes to story 15 good on the ground father, for being there for their grand son, I’m assuming the OP is a boy and good on the OP for having that, let’s check with the grandfather that they could call him for that and this is why if you have just one lives in Grandpa that you got a respect them because you never know when you’re gonna need your grandfathers help you if you only have one good 91 a few months ago, parents were away on vacation live in my own little one bedroom, one bath teeny tiny subsidized apartment power went out so my friend said they still had it so I thought my circuit breaker tried everything I had to get my grandfather in The phone and send pictures to my grandmothers phone to try to have him help me and Deb had to give up then found out so my other friends had the same problem went out to coffee with one of them and their support staff came back. The power is back on locally but man I’m glad I could have my grandfather Liz’s help me over the phone to fit. Try to problem-solving all my own first and now I don’t know how to work a circuit breaker, and fact that this happened in November, one month, shy of living here five years that they had basically believe in the same place for five years before learning how to use my own circuit breakers thank you Grandpa for that valuable lesson. I will never forget that one. Until the email that even if you don’t have one live in Graham father respect them learn what you can from them while they’re still with you because you never know and let them know that you love them every chance you get even death by hugging them when you’re not really a hugger take it from somebody who’s not talk about but will hug the only survivor grandparents and let them know they love them. Every chance I get I will take every piece of advice and lesson learned that they can’t from them as well so good on a grandfather for being able to help the OP in the old people being able to have that connection with the Grandpa that they could call them in for that help that they asked for a story 15

    2) The time I was kissed by the girl I had a massive crush on in high school.
Yeah, transphobic, homophobic parents are bad enough if you just have queer friends, if you’re trans and bisexual, it’s… not a fun time.

One time, I had to do a test to get into a good high school (In NSW, we have this thing called the Selective Test), and I got good results, except for math where I got top 25%. Now this may seem good but I’m Asian, and this is basically taboo. When my parents found out, my reaction was, “Yep, I might as well kill myself.” Luckily I still made it into a very good school but I genuinely got depression from that test and the nightmares that followed

When I was in my freshman year of high school, I had just recently realized I was asexual. So I sneakily joined my school’s GSA to try and make friends and connect with the community my parents didn’t exactly “approve of”. They were going to a pride event in the fall, and I desperately wanted to attend as well. I snuck out, but I was ultimately busted. I tried to explain that if my parents accepted me for who I am, this wouldn’t have happened, and I wouldn’t have to lie to them all the time to save face. But they didn’t listen, no no no. They are still homophobic :(

19:33 it does teach _something_ : fear and obedience; and, unfortunately, these can be important in certain dangerous locations (dictatorships, areas with high violent crime/trafficking).
Does this make it _good_ ? No. Is it useful in generally safe areas in (low-corruption) democratic countries? Not really.
Unless disobedience can get you *_killed_* - for example, angering a corrupt official, offending an oppressive regime, or ignoring your parents’ warnings in a high-crime location - this type of punishment will serve no purpose, and is almost certainly counterproductive.
Am I defending beating your children? *NO,* that would be insane. I’m pointing out how it’s important to take situations into consideration before making judgements.
Why am I pointing that out? I’m in a weird mood and fueled by sleep deprivation. No, I’m not sure why I’m in a weird mood. Yes, I know I “need help,” but RUclips’s a _lot_ cheaper than therapists.
*_Please,_ please _don’t beat your kids - or anyone for that matter._

19:15 I have been spanked and that is the only way I would listen to my parents otherwise I would just say yeah and uh huh when they talked to me and just do it again with spankens I would not do it again at ten they just started lecturing me for hours like the first time was 30 minutes then 1 hour then 2 hours then 3 hours then 4 hours then 6 hours then all day and this worked very well I think spakens work to a certain age but at like 10+ it is more helpful to lecture.
