What a beauty. Living in WI not many of those made into the late 2000s as most were long rotted out by then.

Reminds me of the 91 Suburban 3/4T I raised my kids in until we got our 2002 Excursion. Put a lot of miles on that old girl, great truck, but the Excursion was a game changer with the 7.3L diesel. Have you guys ever done an SubOverland upgrade to an Excursion? I'm going to wire in my Bluetti 200P into a box where my spare tire used to be.

Did the same on my old square burban with removing the front air damn those big metal side skirts and the bug deflector. Amazing the difference in look with removing a few things. Went with the general grabbers on my full size jimmy and they aren't bad for the money in my opinion.

Those stock springs are probably sagging. Rather than just replacing them, maybe some 2" springs from Skyjacker or the like? It'll give you more room for articulation and turning and shouldn't be too tall for 285's. Perhaps some bumpstops or an add-a-leaf in the back depending on how much weight you end up adding there.

Another cool build, loving your channel. And very cool that you get to do a trip with your dad.
Do those new tires rub at all with no suspension lift? Looking forward to the next instalment in the series.

It might have a torsion bar suspension. If it does grab a socket and lower or raise it depending on your needs. Before you leave on your major overland journey CONFIRM all the 4wd components ( transfer case, drive shafts, locking hubs, high and low etc) are in good condition. I'm of the persuasion that prefers skinnies over fatties in regards to tire width. If you don't get a winch check out the Wyeth Scott Power Puller. Safe travels!

These are front and rear leaf springs, solid axles. In 1992 they started torsion keys. We tested all 4x4 components and drive lines, u joints etc before going. 👍

Nice burb! Don’t get too rowdy with those 28spline axle shafts on the rear 10bolt.

Suboverland, I mentioned you in a recent Suburban video I did on my channel. Friend of mine used your channel as some inspiration on how to set up his Z71. Did a full feature video on the truck, let me know what you think!

Love the look of it on stock suspension with those meaty tires. What are the specs on those wheels?

I have an 88 burb, and from experience I can tell you that going with a 2.5 inch lift will actually make it ride MUCH better. Mine rides almost as nicely as my 2004 burb. Stick with single front shocks. Another mod that made it ride better was front sway bar shackle links. www.motorcityk5.com/i-13092-front-sway-bar-shackle-link-kit-73-91-blazer-suburban-pickup-1-2-3-4-ton.html the stock sway bar binds the front suspension badly. These are super cheap and extremely effective on all square body 4x4's. When used with a 2.5 lift and a set of new shocks, it will amaze you. Only other thing I did was a dropped pitman arm, making the steering neutral matching the lift.
