I have a 1977 K10 Suburban that I am a second owner of -- my grandpa being the first -- and everything you're doing with yours is what I want to do with mine to give it new life and longevity. Please keep the videos coming and don't ever think that someone doesn't want to do what you're doing because i'll be following and modeling my build after yours! Already I have been convinced I need to 1 ton swap it and put in a Cargo Glide too.
I’ve been running my Bed Slide in my 2019 and I mounted a bunch of Pack Out plates to it so all my Milwaukee gear stays put while driving. Can’t wait to see the transformation!
@@mattyancey28 really, over dual exhaust, or new header. It's bit a Cummings it's a old 89 I'm wanting to build so damn bad..swap first 😫ok man, that the summer mission
I have had cargo slides on my last Suburban and now my Dmax. They are great! Load once, unload once and you have a table when you get there. By the way, seal the wood (ask how I know).
I have a barn door suburban and a tailgate suburban. I enjoy being able to reach into the back to grab groceries in the Barn Door suburban, but I prefer driving the tailgate suburban with the back window cracked or down. Being able to slide-out the Cargoglide in the tailgate suburban to make stuffs like groceries more accessible would awesome. Also, my wife is 5’2”; she would appreciate the the Cargoglide more than I.
Lol, my wife is 5'2 also and I have to make it easy for her to use and access. I'm gonna be adding a set of AMP Powersteps to help climb in! I agree on the tailgate. There was something about having the tailgate down on a summer evening. I do hope to one day get a roof and doors back on the Blazer...
All my squarebody Suburbans have had tailgates. I like being able to roll down the back window and have lumber or whatever sticking out the back. I also like tailgating (hard to do without a tailgate. I do certainly like that CargoGlide-it can behave like a tailgate. Hmmm. Love the build, keep those videos coming!
Do they have a short enough one to keep the third row seat in? I have a tail door on mine and it's a nightmare to reach inside the back. The barn doors would be better for that aspect.
This one is super quiet so far and heavy enough that I am hopeful it won’t rattle. Did you ever try to reduce rattling with rubber isolators or anything?
@@MerricksGarage It was years ago and used in a work truck application so I didn't mess with it. Great way to get tools out of a lifted truck tho. That rig was 6 and 35s with a canopy, so climbing in there daily was a pain. Sounds like the design has been improved.
I’ve got a 91 Suburban. This looks looks like a nice well made product. My biggest concern aside from weight would be that it looks like I’d be losing the ability to sleep in the truck.
Oh wow! This is exactly what I want for the back of my Toyota van! 😁 awesome! Lol not sure if the Toyota van can handle the exact cargo glide 😅 but super awesome
@@MerricksGarage lol yeah if you can loud up that 1/3 a ton that’s crazy decent! 🤣 van lifers can totally build thier bed on that thing and just slide in and out at will. It’s awesome.
Are these stock rear barn door cards and plastic trim around the windows? I don't have any padding or plastic on barn doors, but I see some rounded corner rectangular stampings on my doors, together with some slots that suggests that only a small portion should be padded. Were there multiple types of door cards avaialble?
It's not in the show notes, but he said it's cargoglide.com. The video for the drawers wasn't in corner of vid either. Not complaining because I can't do any of this.
Dude, take out your headliner. I took the headliner out of my ‘83 diesel K20 burb and haven’t looked back. The plan for me is to spray the ceiling with Lizard Skin for heat and noise control. Plus, if you’re not going to put in a roll cage, having the headliner out gives you plentiful, easy options for mounting grab handles, ham radios, etc.
I wish I could share pictures of what I did. I think you’d like the direction I’m taking it. I struggled for the longest time with the decision of not running a headliner. I know right, all the important stuff, engine, transmission, suspension, and I get hung up on headliner. Hahaha Anyway, love the burb project. It closely parallels what I’m doing with mine. I’m going with Cummins/Allison myself. Can’t wait for the next video.
These slide-out are great, but I am afraid they would act as “spears” in case of a rear-ended accident. All Occupants could be skewered and impelled in case someone rear-ends you. If you install it in a pick-up work truck and you are the only occupant, during day work hours...that is ok to take a risk. But if you are carrying you family in that truck...makes you think twice. Same goes for carrying any load or metal longitudinal object while hauling the entire family. Needs to be done as little snd seldom as possible. Think what happened in case you are rear-ended. So glad I found your Chanel. Four kids here + dog, I have the same issues like you, in perpetual quest to find the perfect family hauler. Ram 1500 eco diesel here, double cab, 6 seats (bench in the front) was ok until now. Now that the kids are growing up, even that is becoming too small. On the wait list for the new 2021 suburban LS (9 seats) diesel... Very nice Chanel you have. Glad I found your videos

Once you own a lifted Suburban you will own one forever or regret selling it. THE BEST!!! :)
I regret selling mine and of course now they're going up in value
I have a hard time selling any vehicle I purchase but the burb is never going anywhere!
Engineering4life Yup, all the Overlanding people are snapping them up, new Suburban 4x4s are $80k now.
Merricks Garage I’m never ever ever selling mine either, they just check all the boxes for me too.
Don't even need a lifted one! I've got a low sittin' C1500 GMT400 and I smile every time I look at it.

I love the packout setup
I have that slide in my 2020 Silverado. So useful.
I have an 89 gmc burb and 84 Chevy Scottsdale burb. Idk where to start on my 89 1500 but I subscribed to get knowledge. Thanks from colorado springs
Glad to have you man!
Start with an LS swap.

I had one of these in my old 82 k20. Supper handy, but squeaked and rattled like and SOB

Yea I think with the diesel rattle that’s coming it’s gonna potentially need some sound deadening.
But yea such a cool way to access cargo space. I can only imagine in a fully dialed work truck.
i always wonder,
why did chevy discontinue the barn doors on the suburban
Same reason they bastardized the Blazer. They hate us
Like the tailgates myself
Very nice product! I think those anchor bolts you refer to are actually plus nuts. A nice alternative to rivnuts if you have the space.
Yup! That’s the name! They are great!

That's the problem with a Squarebody, you can't have just one!
Could've got a 3+3 k30. Im a fan of the suburban though. Especially with what you have planned
Why not a crewcab P/U????
Also rare in good condition thats 4x4 or highly overpriced
Because of the security. But yea I would love that too!
What were the dimensions on your cargo glide for your suburban
Crazy just bought on $300 put in the g20 cool how much do you need
oh man! that would be just the thing for my tailgate burb! i have to climb on the gate to get to anything inside. 6" of lift doesn't help my cause.

"Basically doubling the capacity" well that's not true at all. It makes it easier to access sure but doubling capacity no.

Why does he even build these vehicles? He don't really go 4 wheeling and when he does he wrecks them!
My advice to you would be to just unsubscribe or just do t watch. You obviously haven’t watched any of his videos.
That’s not 100% true. I only wreck them occasionally. But I am not sure what real 4 wheeling is ha ha.
