We really need managers back in wrestling. I think that's a big part of the problem today. There's often a disconnect...But when you have a manager like Jim Cornette, Jimmy Hart, Gary Hart, Bobby Heenan, & they introduce a new guy that person is pretty much instantly over & at least recognizable & you know they must be somewhat legitimate. They're also able to cover up the weak spots.

    • @Mackdez

      Amen to that.
We need managers who are willing to stay managers. " not wrestlers who still want to be" wrestling.
As well as we need consistent tag team who are willing to stay tag teams. WWE needs to put a stop to, taking two superstars out of the blue and making a tag team having having. run over consistent tag team when they were put together with no real meaning behind it it would never going to last.

Damn straight, there is no question that there are a lot of really talented people on the AEW roster, they just need to learn how to add a bit of realism to the product and take out some of the goofy shit, and learn when enough is enough, know when to use a squash match and learn that not everybody ought to be portrayed as a top guy. If you have a nobody going about able to go 20 minutes with your main event guys then you've just killed your main event guy. Just because they can put on a great match doesn't mean they should.
I mean I'm sure there are extras in Hollywood movies that are capable of putting on award winning performances before they get their big break, but when they are just man at bar they shouldn't be given a long drawn out emotional scene with Sandra Bullock, and if Batman upper cuts one of the Joker's unnamed henchmen they shouldn't K'up 3 seconds later and body slam Batman.

If you hadn't blindsided them with that during their taping 6-8 weeks prior they could have edited it out and saved your job and thus kept you commuting to Georgia once a month or so! He mentioned The Masterpiece...reminded me of one of the most awesome stories ever...Chris Masters pulled a tree out of the ground to use as a battering ram to save his mother who was being held hostage in her burning home. Dude downed a rooted tree..and used it as a battering ram...well, I think it was more of a Hulk Smash type thing. ""Chris then called the police, who had trouble getting into the house via
another entryway because a tree was blocking the windows. Desperate to
save his mother, Chris “bear-hugged” the tree and uprooted it; he then
used the tree to break the window and pull his mother out of the house
to safety!."" That is from one article about it. I saw him by the downed tree. That was a large root ball and a good size tree he pulled down

Jake Roberts' promos often depended on a menacing vocal inflection and creeping horror feeling that set in when he was saying his clever shit. Nowadays he doesn't have that vibe anymore, so even if what he says is technically pretty good it just doesn't have that "total package" that's like giving Liz a drink or 20 and a pill or 5 on movie night!
