One of my favourite weird facts is that it’s easier for Australians to do American accents than Americans to do Australian accents because of tongue placement. Australians speak with a more relaxed tongue than other accents, while Americans generally speak with a stiffer tongue - and it’s easier to stiffen your tongue to than relax your tongue. That’s why there are a lot of Australian actors who can do perfect American accents (Margot Robbie, the Hemsworths, Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Guy Pearce, Cate Blanchett etc.) but less UK actors who can and why there aren’t a lot of non-Australians who can do a good Australian accent. To see how hard it is, “Naur” isn’t even actually the sound Aussies are making when we say “No” - the tongue placement is different to where an “r” sound sits. It’s more of a “Nah-oo”. But because it requires a relaxed tongue to do, “naur” is the easiest way for Americans to mimick it. … Anyway, I hope that was mildly interesting.
I needed this. Thanks Lily for the big smile I had on my face and laughs this early in the morning. Funny how little clips someone posts...can make you feel good when you're a Nswer. "American not suit you".."ok we'll I'm not American so that's ok"...lol Lily you tell them🐨
@@timpatrick564 in that case, Garfield's acting was actually lore-accurate. As a comic-book character, Spider-Man has been known to do that while mocking people as he fought them. Always with a joke, unless he was depressed or something else was REALLY WRONG with him. Think about it. If you are in a real fist-fight in the street, wouldn't that fight end faster if you could make your opponent LAUGH? They can't fight if they laugh (or at least they can't fight AS WELL, if they are laughing).
lmao too tru.e. i was like well, she's not wrong, but that's only one facet of american accents. towards the end it was pretty standard american i think. Regardless she did great.
Any American who says they can't understand her because of her Australian accent is just another damned internet troll and should be ignored entirely. She did good. It may have been a while since those classes while she was training. She has the basics down pat. If she wanted to go into acting and had a voice coach on set, she would sound flawless in a role of an American. But I hope she does not stress about it at all; we can understand her just fine with her (adorable) Aussie accent. :)
Lilly having trouble finding her accent toward the end is so funny. I also really like the way she responded to the comment about how her Australian accent suited her best.💖
It was a really good try! The flat vowels make no sense to a lot of other English speakers, I've noticed. And linguistically, the language is supppsed to rather liquid. Regardless of the accent this stays the same. Good job Lily! (Flat vowels suck, like the word classes)
By the time she said "I feel like it's not coming off that natural", I fully would have believed her if I was a new stan and she said she was American. She's hard on herself because she's a perfectionist but I hope someone can tell her she actually nailed it!
I feel like it’s easier because we are surrounded by American media all the time so we are much more familiar with the accents verses say an American with the Australian accent. Very few actors nail it and the ones that have are British.
My base accent leans more towards Modern RP even when I've lived in NZ for over half my life, but if I had to do American accent, I'd probably sound more Southern or having a Texan drawl.
bro lily is really good at calling people idiots without calling people idiots. its a art form at this point.
LMFAOOO
YESSSSSSSS
agreeeessss
She sounds so different lmao 😭
Her US accent is honestly really good overall, but the struggle to pronounce "classes" the American way is real. 😂
The silent "sorry" 😂

As an Australian i can say American accent is saur hard for me🤓☝🏻😭
In the first 10 seconds, she sorta had a Southern accent lmao
It reminded me of Andrew Garfield in Spider-man. He'd jump between different American 'regional' accents at times lol.
@@timpatrick564 in that case, Garfield's acting was actually lore-accurate.

I never realized how much the American accrnty was rooted in the "A"
Dude wait she's so good tho? And you can tell in her self-corrections that she understands the accent down to the tiny details.

過去にニュージーランド人なのにアメリカ英語を話してる女性に会った事がある。話によると、彼女はアメリカ人男性と付き合ってるようで、彼女自身はアメリカ風に訛った自覚はなかったようだw。
Her accent was actually pretty good ngl
Interesting how American accent is literally Aussie accent but with a gun pointing at you, it all makes sense why Americans sound like they do :o
Milly bobby brown of nmixx
that was pretty good lol
I don't know as an American, her American accent is good. Can't even tell
Hey, it’s good. I’d say she’s 80% of the way there. Just the pauses and occasional stutters that can be smoothen out with some work.
