I struggle with defining a label for myself before the word “photographer”. I go through a very similar loop quite often when talking to friends or people I just met about my passion for taking photos and video. 95% of the time, the first thing I get asked is “well what type of photographer are you” and thats where I struggle. My camera hangs in my hand wherever I go, thats always been the case. If I bring it to a get together with friends, I am a portrait photographer for all of my friends. If I go camping in the mountains, I am now a landscape and nature photographer, and if I am walking from one department store to another, I am now a street and lifestyle photographer. I love all of it, and I find when it comes to editing, my style also differs in tones and moods, depending what style I'm working with. I find passion in pointing my camera at things I like and making a snapshot of something that will last forever. I very much respect others who have really focused their style and have put everything into that certain style but I continue to struggle to find mine. Thank you for all your amazing work man, its helps me beyond words.

this is the reason why I love watching your videos. I struggle a lot on editing and I always feel the pressure of doing so much with my image. your process reminds me that a simple edit is all I need and it's simplicity will make the image pop more. not gonna lie, I think a lot of it is because of images we see on social media. I will always go back to this video when i feel like I am not doing enough or when I am going stir crazy with an edit. thank you.

I think consistency has always been the toughest thing for me. Different lighting conditions and subject matter always give different opportunities in post... And then sometimes you feel different moods, either before or after the shoot, and want to translate them through your editing. Your photography and videos are a great example that consistency is important, especially when creating a set. I'd argue whether all your work needs to look similar or not, however. Sometimes it's nice to know a photographer is capable of different looks. But yes, consistency in some form or another is key to a good portfolio. Thanks for your videos, Sam! @circa_1983

A major editing challenge I've been overcoming is having that consistent look across different styles of photo. e.g. concerts, portrait, and landscape all have very different tones & colours but I need to make it consistent for myself.
