Flax is the way to go. After some break in with the woofers it really comes alive. The tweets are still bright but a little tuning will tame the tweeters in the flax component.
I got the combination of them both in a couple of weeks.. the Flaxx Evo (2 way) for the frontstage, and i got the Access 6x9's in the rear shelfs for fill up. Powered all by a Audison SR4500 V2. Cant wait!
Hey James, could you please make a video explaining the advanced aspects of speakers and car audio? Things like RMS, sensitivity, cone area and box space for subs etc etc...thanks!
Infinity Kappa Perfect 500 (5.25""), 600 (6.5"), and 900 (6x9") all have a 3 way crossover that you can flip a switch on add a 3.5" later on which is nice....And super sexy mids with stitched tinsel leas and a pole vent....
The flex are tempting but im not sure i can justify the cost or if they're shallow enough for my door. Im new to car audio and cant believe how little info is out there.
Hi mate, any chance you can shows us a quick look around at the Red Mazda 323 Wagon that's been in your last three videos, I notice it still there in the other room. Huge fan of that car, never seen one that done up. looks really cool. cheers Mate
What is the difference between “entry” vs “mid” vs “high-end or elite”? Are there any noticeable differences? How big are the differences? ~50-75% or ~10-20%?
Great video! I was thinking about the access, but now I'm tempted by the Flax ones. Actually thinking about a custom installation on both a chevy express van and a 2007 chrysler voyager. We will see how far we can stretch the wallet
Hmmmm. What could we possibly want to know in a comparison of devices engineered to create sound? Oh wait, I’ve got it… How do they sound compared to each other?
Thanks for the video, very useful because I'm upgrading from some cheap Alpines to Focal's Access coaxials 130cm(front) and 165cm(back), hope they sound good. Really looking forward to some soundtest. How would you compare the Access line to the new Auditor?
+pop032292 true but not everyone can afford multiple amplifiers and a dsp and a big install cost. These are ideal for people who’s cars are factory 3 way components and just want to spend a small amount to replace damaged or upgrade from factory speakers.
Hello, can you help me? I want to connect 1 set of 3 way speakers to my car. The question is, would a 4-channel amplifier and 1 set of 3-way components and 1 subwoofer be efficient?
Yes, you can bridge two of the four channels on the amp to push the sub (if it's bridgeable), while using channels 1 & 2 to push your components. Use the high-pass filter in your deck while simultaneously running your amp at full range for the front speakers to provide for maximum bass and & clarity while allowing your crossover to do the signal splitting, & to prevent clipping.
+wax333 the mids probably would fit on the dash, that’s where I’m putting them in my 2014 Legacy so if they’re similar dash’s then it should be possible. Trick is then finding a place for tweets.
was just going to mount the tweeters the angled cup towards me because having the tweeters firing at the window doesnt sound very good on the ears it has a 3 inch speaker at top of the dash similar to you

RMS is an advanced aspect? xD
looking forward to hearing the car when its all finished!!

Damn dude, was awaiting the sound test to no avail...

I just replaced all my speakers including center channel with Hertz. They sound really good.
James: What you call "membrane" is actually the "surround". The "membrane" is the cone material.
And only the Golf 5 has a three-way setup. Golf 4, 6 & 7 have two-way only.

Great review
Did you got the chance to compare them with the flax series ?
Some feedback would be nice sound wise ;)

@@Outlabyrinth lol , he said coaxial. 😎
Jack the pup is awesome show him more
Hey james why dont you guys sell morel speakers?
I like how he calls the $500 Focal 165AS3 speakers "entry level".
Going active is the way to go though with the component sets.

I've always fantasized about a 3 way hook up lol
How do you feel about the old Focal 165KR2 vs the Focal Performance PS 165FX
What’s a go set for an Audi A6 going in the front driver and passenger door I’m putting kx2 in the rears
Is there any 3way crossovers out there that the woofer is midbass instead of bass bass or how ever you say it

Sry dude had a little giggle when you said you have traded the beanie for a hat but you have it on back to front lol. No pun intended 😎
"Kiwi's". Adorable.
Thx...good review🙂
Currently, the Universal series costs more than the Access series
certain universal series cost more because they are vehicle specific
wax333 No, that’s the Plug & Play series
where is it made?
i want to try fit the acess series 3 ways into my 2016 impreza but not sure wether i can fit the 3 inch in the dash where the tweeter is.

$350NZD = €209
