    How long do you keep the propagated plant in the smaller pot? Until root bound? Also how many inches is that pot it looks smaller than the 4inch standard nursery pot pot

    • @StevesPropagationCorner
      @StevesPropagationCorner  5 месяцев назад

      You can keep it in the smaller pot until it outgrows the space or becomes root-bound. The pot might look smaller due to camera angles or the potting mix settling, but it's still suitable for propagation.

      @StevesPropagationCorner  2 года назад +4

      Thanks for watching! I’m glad you found it helpful 😊 thanks for the suggestion! I’m definitely thinking about doing a video for the braiding process. As for the cutting, if the only leaf on it fell off then it will have no way of producing energy for new growth as in new roots. I’d suggest taking a cutting with at least one full leaf and put it in water for a few weeks. Hope that helps!

    I have been trying to propagate my money tree. One in soil. Two in two different glasses of water. They are smell stems with yellow leaves. There is a light clear type root I think in the water ones? No dots on stems. I'm close to just propagating my entire original plant. It's showing a lot of new growth but small and has dying leaves now and then. Any advice?

    • @StevesPropagationCorner
      @StevesPropagationCorner  Год назад

      It's great that you're trying different propagation methods for your money tree! The presence of light, clear roots in the water stems indicates that they are starting to develop root systems. However, if the stems have no dots (nodes), it might be challenging for them to produce new leaves and grow into full plants.
      For better success, try the following tips:
      1. Make sure each stem cutting has at least one node, as this is where roots and new growth emerge.
      2. Trim any yellow or dying leaves, as they won't recover and may even hinder the propagation process.
      3. Consider using a rooting hormone when propagating in soil or water, as it can encourage root growth.
      4. Provide proper lighting: Money trees prefer bright, indirect light, so ensure they get enough light but not direct sunlight, especially during the propagation phase.
      5. Maintain appropriate moisture levels: For water propagation, change the water regularly to prevent the growth of bacteria and provide a clean environment for the roots.
      6. Be patient: Propagation takes time, and some cuttings might take longer than others to establish roots and show new growth.
      If your original money tree is showing signs of new growth but also has some dying leaves, ensure you're providing adequate care, including proper watering, humidity, and light conditions. It's okay to prune away unhealthy leaves to redirect the plant's energy towards new growth.
      Remember, propagation can be a trial-and-error process, so don't be discouraged by setbacks. Keep experimenting, and with some patience and care, you'll likely succeed in propagating your money tree successfully. Good luck! 🌱😊

    Is there a way to make the money plant bushy? Its like it loses its bottom leaves..its healthy...

    • @StevesPropagationCorner
      @StevesPropagationCorner  Год назад

      To encourage a bushier and healthier money tree (Pachira), there are several steps you can take. First, consider regular pruning to trim back longer stems just above a leaf node. This will stimulate new growth and help maintain a fuller appearance. Additionally, make sure to rotate the plant regularly to ensure even sunlight exposure on all sides, preventing it from becoming lopsided. Proper watering is crucial; allow the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings and ensure the pot has good drainage. During the growing season (spring and summer), use a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer to provide essential nutrients for healthy growth. If your money tree has outgrown its current pot, consider repotting it into a slightly larger container to provide more space for the roots to grow. Maintaining higher humidity levels around the plant, either through misting or using a water tray, can help prevent leaf loss. Be vigilant in checking for pests like spider mites or mealybugs, as they can stress the plant and lead to leaf drop. If any pests are detected, take appropriate measures to eliminate them. Lastly, ensure your money tree is placed in the right lighting conditions-bright, indirect light is ideal, but it can tolerate some direct sunlight. By following these steps, you can promote a bushier and healthier money tree.

    • @StevesPropagationCorner
      @StevesPropagationCorner  Год назад

      Absolutely! You're on the right track. Planting the broken branch in water is a common method for propagating Money Trees. Those white things you see are most likely the beginnings of roots, which is a great sign that your propagation is progressing well. Keep an eye on the roots, and when they're a few inches long, you can transplant your cutting into soil. Good luck with your propagated Money Tree! 🪴

    • @StevesPropagationCorner
      @StevesPropagationCorner  Год назад +1

      As a general rule of thumb using either a Y or V shape cutting, would give you the best chance. Cut where the nodes meet the trunk. You will need at least a couple leafs on the cutting for it to propagate successfully. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

    just purchased a Money Tree plant in a 10 inch pot with drainage. I poured one litre of Water and a little came out of the drainage holes. But my moisture meter indicated the earth as dry. Does this mean i didnt pour enough water?

    • @StevesPropagationCorner
      @StevesPropagationCorner  Год назад

      To properly water your money tree, make sure to water the soil evenly all around. Money trees like to drink from the outside in, so avoid watering the center of the plant/trunk directly. This will help you avoid watering issues such as yellowing or rust on the leaves. Once you notice the soil is evenly moist, try the moisture meter again and it should indicated enough moisture is present. Allow the soil to dry before watering again, they like evenly moist soil but don’t like to be kept in soggy soil for long periods. Hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions. Happy gardening! 🪴

    • @jeffreykaufmann2867
      @jeffreykaufmann2867 Год назад +1

      @StevesPropagationCorner I did Water the Soil evenly all around. The Volume of my Pot is about 7.5 Litres so maybe it needs another 0.5 Litres of water. . I even inserted the moisture meter thru the drainage hole and it was dry there also.
      The Money Tree can go 2 Weeks without water. With 4 drainage holes how likely is it that I can kill the tree from overwatering?

    • @StevesPropagationCorner
      @StevesPropagationCorner  Год назад

      It sounds like you're taking good care of your Money Tree! With 4 drainage holes and a a moisture meter, the risk of overwatering is lower. As long as you're allowing the soil to dry between waterings and monitoring the moisture levels, your Money Tree should be well-protected from overwatering. Keep up the attentive care! 🌿😊

    • @StevesPropagationCorner
      @StevesPropagationCorner  2 года назад

      If you’re looking for big leaves, you’ll need the right amount of light, air circulation, and feed. This time of year is when Money Trees grow, so that’s probably why you’re getting those new leaves. Pruning them off might not be the best thing for big leaves. Make sure you’re feeding it enough during it’s growing season, gets enough bright, indirect light (east-facing window are best), and running a fan in the room for some air circulation might help. Hope this helps, thanks for watching! 🤞🏼

    I’ve had mine in water for about 45 to 50 days and they all have tons of those little white perlite-looking growths, but zero actual roots have grown. I’ve been using RO water which is basically dead water with no minerals or nutrients. Should I maybe add some liquid food to encourage the plant? The leaves are starting to look a bit pale and weak now.

    • @StevesPropagationCorner
      @StevesPropagationCorner  Год назад

      It sounds like they are ready to start growing some roots since you're noticing all the calluses, but RO water will not provide the necessary nutrients or minerals they need to help them produce the new growth. Try adding some liquid feed to the water, or just plain tap water should work. If you can get your hands on some freshwater aquarium waste water you're set! (that's my secret).

      That’s awesome! I’m not on that level yet, maybe someday. Since the fish tank water contains ammonia, nitrates, and other trace nutrients that are beneficial to your Pachira it works great when propagating them. After you take your cutting from the mother plant , it’s going to be stressed and looking for those nutrients that it was getting from the soil in order to “survive” (propagate).
