I've been doing this since I saw it on your half guard passing instructional. I probably get mount at least twice as much because of this technique. It has helped me tremendously.
This is Khabibs movement but before he popularized it, Shinya "The Baka Survivor" Aoki used to do that all the time. He got it that way often but also from takedowns - then to that type of positioning. If anyone likes this, they should also go and look at Aoki's use of it as well as it would be a more replete take on the position itself. I personally have been thinking about using this positional take towards mounting and control myself. As it offers also in MMA nice chances to drop down unanswered hammerfists as Aoki used it. Great video btw.
Great insight there, you are gonna lost full side control of upperbody or vined with leg triangle whilst framing & shrimping out to escape from side control. Compelling a bad, painful binary choice situation. Thank Lachlan for the amazing breakdown :)
Saturday August 19th 2023, 1037hrs I noticed now that BJJ is going through another evolution. The more evolved BJJ players are now incorporating wrestling, leg rides, and pinning into their arsenal like Craig Jones, John Danaher, Gordon Ryan, AND LACHLAN GILES. I'm ecstatic to see this happening.

Facts yeah ! Cause they sometimes try bump you off but that just slides us into mount
Sounds like a nice wind goin with some awesome scenery in the background. That’d be some awesome training atmosphere
Not a good recording space unfortunately. RIP my ears.
The fact that this works with elbows and punches allowed, makes me like this even more
This was a really great camp at Hamilton- Lachlan’s ability to answer ‘complex’ questions on the fly was fantastic. Really powerful control!
Thanks for breaking this down, Lachlan! Incredibly helpful.
What a beautiful looking scene to train amongst 😍
You had me at Habib

Excellent. Lachlan could you show the defence against this as well please!
What an amazing background
iv been doing this since i saw khabib do it
I love this! It really frustrates people.
Awesome video!
I'll try it out.
what a place
Love the content, it needs way more wind into the microphone though - not enough wind, can still hear Lachlan through some of the video

How to escape this position?
I've doing this a lot without thinking too much as it fits my game, but there are a few tweaks and enhancements here to really allow me to smesh

First time I saw this was Aoki doing it way back in the day in an MMA fight. Probably where Khabib got it from.
It's a common folk style wrestling technique that probably has been around for millenia
Exelent tecnique
this is numberr one goodshit :D
What a view! Is this Australia?

If both you and your partner have two legs it should work.

switch and have Channing Tatum show it
Habib is a monster, the world will never ever have some one like him in next 100years
Bro the wind sound is horrible and hurts a lot. Get a noise canceling system or so. I can't watch it
