I enjoyed this video! I did some work near the fish hatchery and fished the river while I was there. I plan on going back and paddling it! Looks like a great life long memory. Thanks for sharing yalls experience.
Brett, do you remember exactly where you camped out that first night when it rained in the video? That looks like a great spot!!! Thanks. I am going back that way in a week or two.
@@Docholiday1102 taking out my brand new Pungo 125 and the wife's LL Bean Manatee 120 DLX... But we are going out first to Mineral Wells State Park to practice getting on and off and recovering a tipped over kayak.... fun! Ha ha!
Great video. Just moved to Texas and still struggling with all the private land around the river. Could you share your camping location? Or comment on how easy is to find islands, dunes, banks?
Hey Jose, yes the private land can make it difficult but on this particular stretch we didn’t have too much trouble. There were several natural stopping places and we passed lots of great areas to setup camp
Man that was an awesome kayak camping trip. Look like you had a nice time except for the rain. I like your Pungo kayak too. I am looking into purchasing one. Question? how did it handle in the water. I didn't see a review on your Channel about the Pungo kayak. I have the sit on top Wilderness system Tarpon right now. Great video thank you for sharing.
Thanks Mac, I absolutely love my Pungo 120! It tracks great in the water and has enough storage for all my gear. My buddy has the Perception Joyride 10 and it’s got a wider base than the Pungo and I find myself having to slow down and wait for him. I have a sit on top as well which I enjoy but for these camping trips I found having the dry storage comes in clutch. The Pungo has the removable accessory dash which is a nice touch too.
@@Docholiday1102 This is why I want a Pungo kayak for camping. It has enough storage space to keep your gear dry enough and I like that the dashboard is removable when you needed to. I want to use my sit on top for day trips on the water and the Pungo for when I go kayak camping. Just curious how long have you had your Pungo kayak?
@@Docholiday1102 that's awesome man I'm trying to have mine by Springtime. I just got your channel last night and I like what you doing man. You have some awesome kayak camping trips man. Keep up the good work brother.
Looks like a good adventure. No fishing but gourmet eating. I have a mango Pungo too. I was not sure how to carry a cooler. I have an Rtic soft side on order. What were those yak racks you have? I’ve been using those foam blocks like your buddy.
George S thanks for watching! I plan to fish more on our next trip just not 100% what tackle to use. The yak rack is actually the manufactures rack I purchased from the dealership when I initially bought the car. Probably spent way too much but it looks cool lol
This first night we camped off Crawford Bend. The second was past Chick Bend directly across from the Boy Scouts of America spot. We loved our campsite but the boys were chanting till 10 pm and then shooting rifles at like 8 am lol there are just random primitive campsites along the River. It’s an awesome time!
South side of Possum Kingdom Lake to fm-4 bridge. Contact Rochelle’s Canoe Rental for permission to use take-out or for shuttle services. Nice 20 mile paddle can be done in 2 or 3 days.
It really depends on what type of experience you’re looking for. Are you tent camping or hammock camping? I would make sure you have enough water for the trip for sure. I would take fire starter to ensure you don’t have any issues starting a fire and there’s no cell service out there so prepare accordingly. I loved having my jetboil for quick meals and morning coffee. Don’t forget TP! I remember my headlamp and water shoes coming in clutch.
Yeah about the same. There were only a few areas where we actually had to get out and move the kayak. Looking forward to our next adventure. Any other Texas rivers you recommend?
@@Docholiday1102 We are in the same boat, We love the Guadalupe. Have yet to do an overnight trip but that is on the bucket list for this year to complete.
Great video. Especially like the hammocks.....I must get myself one!
Thanks for watching! Brazos volume 2 is in the works!!
We just completed the 10 mile day trip from Rochelle's this last weekend. Great video and looks like yall ate well.
Hek yeah! I actually just uploaded a new video over the Brazos a few days ago, check it out!

Thanks brother glad you enjoyed!
That food looks good! Taking all the veggies is smart thinking cause they probably won't go bad like meat would
Well when we first started going on these trips my buddy was vegan and would cook vegan meals... I will say they did last longer!

Hey Gene! Taking your own yak this time!? I hope ya’ll enjoy!! I can’t remember the exact spot my friend In sorry.

Great trip down the brazos. Do you recall the flow rate?
Yeah I believe it was around 175. All the locals were saying that the river was WAY high at the time.
Where is this section on the Brazos? Where did you put in and take out?

Rochelle’s is right there at Hwy 4, right?

What kind of light was in the milk jug?
It was a clip on selfie ring light my buddy brought. Looks like they’re ~$10 on Amazon
