@Ranger0024 surface tension is spread out across a smaller area, therefore more pressure per lbs/sq inch on a given section of track, meaning more traction due to the sheer weight of the awsome 973. that is why wider tracks are used on sensitive surfaces where you sacrificed some traction for lighter damage to the ground beneath you. it is also why they smaller tracks sink quick in mud.
@mad4diesel Well seeing as most water/sewer in Calgary is done the same way we do it in Edmonton, you're probably missing a few steps. Also seeing as this is not a trench... your not even in the ballpark. Uniform backfill is key, when you know what it means you can speak.
@mad4diesel Wow... I'm so hurt. There are many ways to get 99% compaction, but as I said where is uniform backfill? My ditch has to be from property line to property line at a depth of 1.5m when backfilling residential services. This promotes uniform lifts from that depth which prevents sags in the road at the services, or at the edges where your engineered fill will be harder and more consistent than natural ground. As an example.. those streets that don't feel like moguls.... this is why.
but really the trick to the busting up is all in the dump you jus dump it all at ounce and doze it out in rake mode but the trick is startn the dump with bucket low flat on ground or jus to the grade you wana hold and go along and dump slower well lifting main arms and dumping more n more tell its in rake style than any big lumps will still be the onlything your pushn than flick them along with teeth wich will bust them up hit auto rollback set bucket downback up dragging leveling anything needd
dont even know a curt think he might be old dozer guy that was talkn like hes the best but truly never seen him run nuthn so i cant speak but heard he was good. But str8 up u aint busting up nothing jus raking top inch trust me im wachn and i see a first year tloader guy thats all its cool your out there doing your thing cool you guys get to run lotsa shit ive personally never touched a scraper something i should try out
@mad4diesel Ok once again... what does that have to do with uniform backfill chief? Maybe the problems with your new subdivision is the company that built it. Look over the as-built sheets and ccheck out the numbers compared to original drawings.
I rake my dirt to bust up the lumps and have everything broken down, since large lumps just create voids after compaction and your road ends up with moguls in it where every service is. Let me guess you're going to tell me that the best water/sewer track loader operator is you at Streamline? Let me guess you learned from Kurt didn't you?
any body that knows whats up will understand what im sayn and learnn from a guy thats got 40years exp and expanding on that is how i learn whach the good ops and put your own style on it ipersonally dont rake out each bucket id rather push out a pyle all at ounce lumps breack them selves up gettn the bucket pushed down on it on my back up its way quicker
wachn u run this thing is funny u love raking and raking to try in get flat hey i assume this is 1st year in the loader eh u rake it forward than rake back like really put the dirt where ya want and flatten it not very productive raking around the top inch aint doin nothn still as angled as it always was jus sayn u run the new 755k

He's a great guy, I have nothing but respect for him. Where is Streamline working right now with the 650?
