    We got this exact model at our local landfill site with a 4 in 1 bucket, very versatile machine and comes in handy for towing out trucks that get stuck in the mud in there. I would love one at home to play with!!!

    It's nice being able to see into the trucks your loading. Plus this was my pace all day. 1 truck on a 7-8 minute cycle. I needed some way to amuse myself. Eventually even porn on an iPhone gets boring.

    We have a 963c. A dream to be on. And a 963b down on my farm, that thing has NO tracks left, it's all flat, but is a farm machine so no worries. Love the old drotts

    Ah,man love the track loaders. Operated a 953 for many years, I'd love to operate the 973 {that won't happen}. Smooth machine a real worker too.

    I still think track loaders should drive like a dozer.

    Sim!

    Nice machine. They do have a better push into the pile than a wheeled loader.
    It's very rare to see these working in the Uk these days..we seem to use 360 excavators for everything whereas a 'Drott' (as they were commonly known here) is only used on Landfill sites where stability and LGP are essential.
    Interesting to note the different terminology for machinery across the world..in the Uk those trucks would simply be known as 'Six wheelers' whereas 'tandems' would have only been used to describe tandem trailers - but that was only when they were current, about the early 80's.
    Enjoyed your video.

    • @groddofwar7779
      @groddofwar7779 9 лет назад

      That's pretty neat, never thought about the different terminology. We've always called our 963 a loader, ever specified about the running gear. Our Excavator is Simply called A Hoe, and the dump trucks are either bobtails, tandems or tri's. What do you guys call Bobcats, aka skid steers?

    • @garethifan1034
      @garethifan1034 9 лет назад +1

      Sweet..we call them as you do - either a 'Bobcat' or a 'skid steer' whereas what I suspect you would call a 'backhoe' (?) is generically known here as a JCB i.e.excavator-loader.
      Speaking of tractor-trailers - they are usually green, red or blue, and pull ploughs in fields - again another difference with NA..What we would call them would be in short 'Artics' (for articulated trucks)
      Have fun with the terminology..!

    • @groddofwar7779
      @groddofwar7779 9 лет назад +1

      Yuxin Wang I've always called both hoes, and for some reason everyone always knows the difference, lol..It has to do with the job, and line of work we are..They aren't used much..
      If it's anything smaller, it's automatically a mini X...
      Then again, I'm in the Southeastern US. It's not uncommon too hear "Yup, the hoe is ovare at the ol job upare"lol

      I know what you're saying - interesting..
      Sounds like borders people in the UK, borders of England /Wales that is.
      From what I saw on tv - those accents belong to folks in the Carolinas..

    • @groddofwar7779
      @groddofwar7779 9 лет назад +2

      Yuxin Wang There are different accents within the region, some real strong, some not so much..We are kinda in between, but I can 45 minutes south, and I can't even understand what the hell they are saying, lol..
      We just have a little twang too ours, but we do have the best savings ever lol.

    For the tracks is it a pilot control that controls them or lever for forward and reverse then just foot brakes to turn?

  • @vantagetes
    @vantagetes  11 лет назад

    You have a pilot control lever and 2 pedals with electric sensors for steering.

    Strange seeing dump trucks with out the canopy over the cab, in Nova Scotia you hardly see tandems like that.

    What are the main advantages that a track loader has over a wheel loader? We don't see many down here in the south.

  • @pjs5191

    What's wrong with the boom cylinder on the one side of the loader arm? Looks like there is a piece sticking up like it's broken or loose or something.

  • @vantagetes
    @vantagetes  11 лет назад +2

    Newer D model Cat and K model Deere's do have hand controls for steering as an option. But as any real track loader operator can tell you Scott, foot pedals are the way to go for steering.

    Any particular reason for the loading area ramp? The company I work for has a 973C and it will get plenty high enough to clear the dump beds.

    • @johnschmeitzel8933
      @johnschmeitzel8933 3 года назад

      That’s exactly what I was saying in my comment ! No need for ramp, and get your trucks to the pile , if there was a track Hoe on sight what would you do? Carry the dirt to the trucks! I don’t think so!

    A lot of dozers are foot pedal steer, Your hands are busy with speed and direction or bucket or blade, your feet are not busy so steer with them.

  • @num1loaderman
    @num1loaderman Год назад

    why are you traveling so far to load the truck.You should be setting the truck closer to the pile so you load up your bucket back up spin and dump in to truck.

  • @todlindley8101
    @todlindley8101 9 лет назад

    Great Machine but Horses for courses nowadays, the 973 will weigh around 20- 25 ton so a lot of weight to motivate when travelling back n forth hence fuel usage will be hefty + all the Track wear and the inconvenience of less precision loading compared to a Excavator which stands still hence little track wear and only has to swing the upper structure (around 10 ton) and the upper structure is on a lubricated bearing hence creating far less resistance to the Track Shoes of a Track Shovel having to climb over soft ground, when using a n Excavator the visability is far better when you are looking iinto the bucket and can see what is being loaded hence giving chance to avoid foreign matter. Nowadays Track Shovels are for Formation work where some loading is required

  • @Maczust63

    wheel loader ride like crap on broken up dirt they bounce around and make wholes this packs the dirt and doesnt make wholes plus can push

  • @johnschmeitzel8933
    @johnschmeitzel8933 3 года назад

    First of all get your trucks back to the pile! You got good enough ground conditions that yo can back them into the pile! What’s with the ramp! No need.

  • @matty8371

      @matty8371 9 лет назад

      Tod Lindley Well that may be the case if the ground is not hard...It looks slick on top, but not soft as in weak base...

    • @todlindley8101
      @todlindley8101 9 лет назад

      matty8371 Just my 10 penneth Matty, I think a wheeled shovel on that ground would be wallowing around and finding the soft spots especially with the same bucket/size/weight hence in very quick time the operator would be hacked off at being thrown around the cab and the wallowing would slow travelling to the truck plus bucket load retention is impaired ie as a wheeled shovel rocks around the spoil falls off the bucket hence loosing the payload and making the work area progressively more uneven and if it rains part way through the day the wheeled shovel will be up to its knees and Job Stopped hence Trucks all piled up stood waiting to get loaded - No Pay Day !!, Large Tracked shovel for this job- Fetch N Carry to truck or put a haul road in, back the trucks in close and load with an excavator. Suppose you think I'm a know it all !! Lol. Ive done plenny of muck shiftin !
