Richard Strauss will always be my absolut favorite composer ..Music from Heaven. i love the last 2 minutes of the first act.. ..the music is sooooo beautiful ...fantastic singers : Baltsa ❤ and Sintow❤ and Moll ... the Orchester and of course Karajan thx for posting
Anna Tomowa-Sintow vocally and dramatically is my favorite Marschallin. The voice is unique and unmistakeable, she really emphasises the fact that the Marschallin is a woman straining against the decorum of her station. I expected to enjoy Baltsa more, but she sounds underpowered and a size too small for the role. Maybe I've been listening to too much Jurinac. Janet Perry isn't in this act, but she made no impression on me at all.
@@herbertstrenn1635I said I found it underpowered here in the Strauss idiom. Something about her voice for me lacks a little color and weight for the rich orchestral texture.
Anna Tomowa-Sintow made me cry in the end. What an interpreter , singer , actress!!!Great DIVA!!! Love the whole cast !!! Agnes Baltsa is fantastic!!!

46:40 huge low C from Moll.
An absolutely great post.
Thank you.
This is the best version. Singing could be best appreciated. The balance of orgestra and singing is perfect.

did you ever hear Baltsa live in an Opera House? I did many times and I can assure you that she had a really strong voice
@@herbertstrenn1635 Many times, including as Carmen at the Met.
@@GarthAstrology... and you found her voice underpowered? The whole recording here on RUclips is underpowered, I had to turn the volume to maximum.

"Am Ende des Regenbogens"......
Ecoutez la musisue au lieu de regarder les aiguilles de vos appareils !
Pitch is nearly a semitone high
This is because the Vienna Philharmonic tunes far higher than A = 440.
@@jasonhurd4379 yes but this is higher that that
@@jasonhurd4379 The higher tuning does not account for the higher pitch here. A half step up is around 466 . Vienna tunes to 443
I just sampled several recordings and this sounds maybe a few Hz sharp - nowhere near a semitone.
who cares?
