I was twice in Verona, a long time ago. And there was no sound system. This place just need great voices (I remember Leo Nucci's voice really didn't any assistance). If, nowadays, opera singers need assistance in a natural acoustic place, it's the beginning of the end of opera.

BRILLIANT!! Baltsa is just brilliant - Zampieri too. EXCELLENT confrontation scene. Some can be quite tame, but this was FULL of fire and drama.

Der Abend plätscherte etwas langweilig und nichtssagend dahin .. viele berühmte jüngere Künstler aber der Funke sprang nirgends über ins Publikum Dann kamen die beiden „alten“ und man saß innerhalb von Sekunden auf der stuhlkante und war gebannt und hingerissen.. Oper vom feinsten die Reaktioin im Publikum sagt alles

..... purtroppo quando esapera il temperamento la voce si sgrana e si rompe. Molto meglio nel canto più mite e misurato dove la voce risponde ed è meglio governata. Questa è una brutta interpretazione.
