- This cake is the most requested cake of any that I make. If someone has a birthday coming up they will ask me to make this cake. It is delicious and so moist. You need to follow the recipe exactly because if you have strawberry juice in your frosting it will be runny. This recipe also allows you to add more powdered sugar if it needs to be thicker. This can be made in a 9 x 13 pan but you really want layers so you will get that frosting between each layer.

My Grandma made this very same cake when I was growing up. I remember it so fondly because she let me help her make it, and it is luscious! Thank you for sharing it. Also , I love your sweet spirit and the way you point to Jesus. ❤
Mama Sue, you call that milk sweet milk if you want.. be proud of your Southern roots. I know you are. I've heard sweet milk all my life by my own mother. I grew up im Missouri, but love all things Southern. Especially the southern manners. I fixed your salmon patties last week. Love them. Hope you're doing well. I am a breast cancer survivor of 10 yrs. The Lord gave me Psalm 103 as my promise.

Mama Sue your strawberry cake looks delicious! I have a good recipe from my husband's aunt. I haven't made it in years but always loved it. I don't remember cream cheese but it may have had it in the icing. Now that I think about it we were newly married and I didn't care for cream cheese then. As I experienced more foods I learn to like cream cheese. A dessert I have made for 45 years and love has cream cheese in it. Thank you Mama Sue. God Bless Your Family.

Try using applesauce instead of oil, strawberry applesauce for a strawberry cake. It makes it way more moist and is better for you than oil.

This is a note to Mama Sue. Hi there. I found your videos a few months ago and enjoy them very much.
I believe i am a good bit older than you at 75 years. I was born in Columbus, Ga. But have lived my life around Charlotte, N.C. and Garden City, S.C. but in the south. Want to see if you have heard of some of the old south sayings that i grew up with. Wondering if you know:

Your video says you used 8” pans but recipe book says 9”, can you clarify which one I should be using. Thank you so much❤️
Use whichever size pan you have on hand! The 8" will be a little fuller.
