I have been watching this closely. I do have a feeling a east rift eruption may happen before years end. This similar pattern of EQ's happened with the SW rift eruption.

@@volcanoimage I can see why, I just didn’t realise how high the possibility had got, last I heard was 50/50. Definitely seems more of a when than an if now.

If an eruption was to take place in the MERZ, would it create a new vent or would it follow the path of least resistance to the surface and erupt from Pu‘u‘ō‘ō?

It would definitely follow the path of least resistance which nowadays could be anywhere on the UERZ and MERZ. A while back months before the June 3 SWRZ eruption I had a gut feeling that a SWRZ eruption would happen before 2026. I have a gut feeling with the magma pulses into the ERZ this time that an eruption may happen between the summit and Napau Crater. My gut tells me based on the current EQ pulses that an ERZ eruption is on the table within a years time.
