    At the beginning of this video you stated that there was a very little crime. We live here in Hawaii. I'm a retired policeman. The government here hides the crime statistics from the people. Somebody is murdered and assaulted or stabbed or shot nearly every single day. They hide the numbers because they don't want to scare away the tourists because that takes away their money. Super corrupt here. Almost third world country cartel Mexico corrupt. Sorry to burst the bubble. Aloha.

      @@volcanoimage Yes, since the 2018 eruption that collapsed the caldera floor and caused the lava to emigrate down to the Lower East Rift Zone, Kilauea entered a quieter faze but does seem to be gradually returning to more active faze again, even though these eruptions are lasting a few hours to days, at the most.

    I’m surprised the lava fountain is still as large as it is right now. Normally you only see fountains that size in the first few minutes of an eruption.

    • @volcanoimage
      @volcanoimage 9 дней назад

      When it restarted it was vigorous. It is now in a pause again just like the first time. If the same thing happens again it may be the start of a pattern just like Kilauea Iki. The drain back indicates a clear conduit from the surface to the magma chamber.

      @@volcanoimage I know, I was there when it paused, kinda, on the livestreams. I'm hoping this becomes a pattern. Kilauea has been rather quiet this year after all the large eruptions last year. The two eruptions earlier this year were rather minor. I'm also in a way glad an eruption happened here over Christmas and not in Iceland. See, the last eruption in Iceland was expected more this time of year, which would have meant it would have been larger, in the 80 to 90 million cubic meter range.

    Google “rimmed kettle lake formation”. This is a similar scenario that is the most likely answer in my opinion. A large chunk of ice (similar to an ice burg) from the glacial period sat here with a lot of sediment in it. As the ice melted, the sediment gathered around the edges. It left a depression with sediment around the edges. Almost everything we see on the surface in Michigan is a result of glacial activity.

    • @volcanoimage
      @volcanoimage 8 дней назад

      That is an interesting theory, thanks! Considering how thick the ice was over 12000 years ago I wouldn't rule that out. I have a hard time finding info about this structure. There are only a couple of webpages on it and a another YT video on it.

    • @volcanoimage

      Carbon dioxide and water vapor are the most common gases at Lengai. We were aware of the dangers of camping inside the crater at the time over 20 years but our tents were placed in areas of higher ground near the edge of the crater. The crater floor at the time reached parts of the crater rim. The high winds that were constant at the summit diluting any CO2 before it reached us our exposure was minimal at the time. 1000 ppm or higher would cause tiredness at long term exposures. Never felt tired even at 10000 feet above sea level. Yes I did carry two respirators at the time.
