I’m only listening to this because my orchestra teacher told us we had to for the online so program thing. I like it, it sounds great, but I just feel like it kind of sounds like somebody just randomly hit a bunch of strings and made it sound good. Normally a lot of pieces on piano blend together and sound the same to me except the famous ones like anything by Paganini, Blue Danube, bumblebee, but those are really easy to distinguish. But this one also stands out to me.
Normally I like Berman's playing but there's something about this that's just too wayward. I don't mean the wrong notes, I don't really understand what he's doing with phrasing, with melody, pedalling, articulation - just all seems very hasty and rushed. Sokolov is my preferred recording, because he manages to convey the sense of ecstasy throughout very eloquently - Berman almost seems to be shouting at us.

Il est sous acides, c'est pas possible autrement! Totalement incroyable!!! ❤ ❤ ❤
Completely crazy . As it must be !
Astonishing playing and recording--I wasn't familiar with this one. I like it as being on a similar level to Sofronitsky. Thanks for this!
새벽4시 시험기간에 열람실 나와서 잠깨려고 커피한잔에 찬바람 쐬면서 이 곡들으면 기분이 그렇게 좋을수가 없었음....
크.. 멋지네요
I,m in heaven with this performance of the truly great Berman..
O.o what is this phrasing and rhythm?? So refreshing of this piece
Completely crazy! Makes you believe his music could end the world...
We are happy and sad that he didn't finish his potential masterpiece Mysterium. Proboably if it was done, it could create an apocalypse

This is late Romantic music. It just takes some experience before you start to understand it, but it's worth it.
2movement...tones are dirty and miscellaneous.
