Loved getting to see yall camping on the beach that was awesome and all you're so collecting I used to love to do that but it would be awful hard for me to do that again since I'm now in a wheelchair and I don't have one that would go on the beach but that's okay that's part of my life that I've learned to deal with. I'll just watch shows like yours and live through yall. . God bless yall
Washington state coast is open to drive on in most places. Specifically, the town of Ocean Shores during July the 4th festivities. It's a firework extravaganza. The little butterfly shells look to me like small clams but that is just a guess. Enjoying the videos. Thanks for sharing!
To find whole sand dollars...get in the water and flip your toes through the sand. When you start finding them, you cannot stop! Found tons of them near Panama City Beach!
We made the same mistake when we came here thinking South Padre Island was the place we were going to be but it turns out it's two different places. South Padre Island is more like a little city and where we are at is about 70 miles north of South Padre Island and is 70 miles of raw coastline called Padre Island National Seashore.
Saw the thumbnail and immediately thought, oh no! they're definitely stuck in the sand 😁 That's awesome, doesn't get any better than that camping spot!
Fabulous episode!!! 💖💖 What an amazing time on the beach! Great to be watching here in western NY in mid December. Although I can't complain, it was 60 here today. 😲 It kinda reminds me of driving on the tarmac ar Orlando airport when we used to deliver phone books. 🤔 Mama kitty stalking the sand 🦀 and sand 🦀 football was the best! 🤣🤣💕 Thank you so much for sharing this with us! Happy holidays from Troy & Aimee
Check the season to see if you can harvest any of the cockels. They're delicious! Boil them tell their shells open, I cut the stomach out and disgard it, and then dip them in butter! During low tide I find them by lightly stepping around the water lines and they spray you, reach down and they lay right under the surface of the sand, no shovel needed!
Did ya hear anybody talking about the Ridley Turtles coming ashore to lay their eggs, then a short time later baby turtles hatch and scramble to the water. We help look for the nest and mark it so it won't be run over or walked on.
What a great episode, I was lucky enough to live at the beach, Pacific Beach down in San Diego for 2 years. I’m so grateful for the experience, it was really different, good and some bad as it can get pretty crowded in the summer. Thanks so much!
Also if you run up to the dune line you can find sea beans. They float up to the dune line during periods of tropical disturbances or extreme high tide episodes ✌🏼🤟🏼🇺🇸
Nice your living the life now super happy for you guys it nice to see you enjoying the fruits of your labor the coach is now priceless some people only dream of living their lives in this way. Again enjoy you earned it. Happy trails
.... That was an incredible video! It was a pleasure to watch! Boy, I have to get going on my buss! Have fun and can't wait till your next video! Have a great Christmas 🎄.
Hi Mike, Hi Kerry, Once again a great video, if it wasnt for the wind I think it would be really good to stay there but having said that I realised what you said about the bus and salt water, not a good combination.. Anyway it looked like the three of you had a great time and you are looking really well. It will be nice to see what you do with those shells Kerry..Well stay safe and well and look after yourselves.. Love you, K..
LOVED the being on the beach!! My daughters, like yours love the beach & would love to be there, I'm sure. They go every chance they get...you'd think they'd invite mom to go with... but No, not happening!☹️ I've not been to the beach since hurricane Fran came thru on the N.C. coast!(that was when we lived at the beach, not been back since) Have to live out my travels thru folks like y'all, makes me feel like I'm there. Thanks ❣️ Look forward to next Thursday. 🤗
The little shells that you were calling Little Butterflies are called “Coquina”. “Coquina,” an American term that comes from the Old Spanish for “tiny shell,” is also known as the pompano shell or butterfly shell clam. So you’re right they are Butterfly Shell Clams. Right where the waves end on the sand you’ll see little bubbles, that’s the Coquina’s digging back down. We would take a bowl strainer, dig about 4 to 6 inches sand (where the bubbles were), strain off the sand and collect the live Coquina. When we had a half bucket or so, we’d fill the bucket 3/4 full of sea water and let them sit for 3 or 5 hours. During witch they would take in the clear sea water and spit out the sand they had accumulated. Turn the oven on Broil, spread a layer of Coquinas on the cookie sheet, sprinkle the shells with lowery‘s seasoning salt, then put them under a broiler until the shells pop open. Some will not pop open and don’t eat them, they were dead before you started cooking. Put a whole shell in your mouth and you can dig out the clam meat from the shell with your tongue and suck the salt off the shell, then split the shell out, repeat as necessary.
The butterfly is opened. Its on your picture, just closed. The live ones dig down into the sand as the wave leaves. They're pretty where you are, ours here are plain white and tan. Gulf Shores AL.
We just missed u guys we left there Nov 26. 3 years ago I got a written warning for no seat belt right down where you guys were driving on the beach from the rangers
ANOTHER GREAT VID IN THE CAN! THANKS AGAIN GUYS. I KNOW THIS WAS FILMED WEEKS AGO BUT I HOPE YOU , KERRY, THOUGHT ABOUT COLLECTING UP A BUNCH OF THE SHELLS AND USE THEM IN SOMEWAY WHEN YOU FINISH THE MOSAIC. THAT WOULD BE PRETTY COOL, HUH.
Kerry I've lived here (Corpus) all my life and it's rare to find a whole sand dollar on the surf. Reason is they are so delicate and the surf breaks them in all sizes. The trick to finding a whole one is to take a scuba mask and go out pass the first sandbar (about 30 feet pass the surf on low tide) and with your mask on look down just below the water surface and you should see a sand dollar spaced apart probably every 10 to 20 feet from each other. Of course it depends on the tides and storm patterns which bring in more into that 1st sand bar. Sometimes the surf is almost nonexistent and that's when you'll really have better luck finding these sand dollars. Some of the local shops also sell whole sand dollars too in different sizes, some as large as 5 to 6 inches in diameter!
Seems the shells come in different times of the year ,hope you get most of the list ,at least you got 50cents of a sand dollar. At Bird Island Basin good place to kayak.
From Marilyn: Great episode! Love the hunt for shells for shell bingo. Now I want to go there. Mike gave me a scare trying to kayak on the Ocean side! And no life jacket! Gah!
Oh, Kerry, I'm sure he's a good swimmer. I'm just a silly worry wort. Lol. Thanks for explaining though! PS: your daughter is lovely and that leaping/gymnastic ability is amazing! You two are so sweet together. From Marilyn. 😁🤗
Loved this episode, we stay on the east coast of Australia and the beaches are over protected so we don't have the freedoms you guys have there. (can't drive on most beaches, definitely not supposed to take shells or sand from the beaches the list goes on) Great video really enjoyed it.
Maybe I will see you some time, i am building a 97 blue bird toy hauler. And I live in Conroe TX and go to bolivar, Galveston all the time. I head down there to go fish 2 to 3 times a summer. Use to camp now have the bus.
You guys are getting pretty close to Louisiana!! You should come to New Orleans for Mardi Gras in February. If you want me to start scouting out parking spots just let me know. I would be happy to do that would offer my driveway but I don't think it's long enough. Just how long is Bussy??
North Beach is a different beach. They are in PINS (Padre Island National Seashore). North Beach is where the USS Lexington museum and the Texas State Aquarium are.
Hopefully one day I'll actually start selling Tupperware (sorta...the social phobic way) so I'll be able to start planning & saving up money for my future dream house (a 28 ft Skoolie)
BTW, you said, North Beach. Where is that? State, area??? There's a beach near us, in S.C. called: North Myrtle Beach. I'm sure that's no where near where you are. Glad you're having a good time.
They're on Padre Island in a area the locals call North Padre which is a long Island off the coast of South Texas. It's located near Corpus Christ. The part of Padre Island they were at was on the National Seashore section that has a small park called Malaquite, pronounced Maila-qeet.
@@BussyMcBusface My husband knows where that is & my son-in-law has family in Texas & he knows where it's at. Seems like I'm the only one that didn't know where that beach was at 🥴. Glad y'all had a great time. If you come thru what they call: the triad of North Carolina, let me know; would love a meet-&-greet, if possible (along with mamma kitty). Take care, God bless & safe travels.
@@BussyMcBusface that will be tricky since it’s all waiting on FAA. They are still saying January-February. But there may be some amazing static fires of Booster 4 very soon.
Would you guys like to come see boring flat Kansas and help me build my bus after my mom's estate gets settled (6 months at the least but probably more) and I buy a bus? I forgot to ask when I watched this video yesterday.
I was on that same beach on Christmas Day 48 years ago
fond memories of long ago
I know your excitement you are feeling
Enjoy
All I kept hearing was Mike yelling, "hang on Wilson"!! 😆😆
What an beautiful place!
The build was great, but the Adventure is awesome. Happy Trails !!!
It so relaxing & the waves coming in is so soothing. The moon looks like you can just touch it. Beautiful⛱🌞🌡☀️🥂🇨🇦
Those "butterfly" shells were adorable, but I was loving Mamacita on the sand!!
My favorite part was when mama-cita was chillin on Mike’s lap. So cute!!

Thanks for the trip to the beach. Can I just say... Those shells!!!
Looks like Angel Wings, Put some sand inside your bowl, And put your shells in for the Bus 🚌🥰😍🎅🙏🌹👍🎄🙋♀️
Enjoyed shell bingo,Love the beaches.

My husband and I loved it there for our 4 year Navy tour. Car rotted out shortly thereafter. :) Sand, sand, sand. Love your channel.

I always thought South Padre was just a place where people went to party on spring break... But clearly it's a great place to go and chill out.
We made the same mistake when we came here thinking South Padre Island was the place we were going to be but it turns out it's two different places. South Padre Island is more like a little city and where we are at is about 70 miles north of South Padre Island and is 70 miles of raw coastline called Padre Island National Seashore.
@@BussyMcBusface ok. I get the distinction now. Thanks!

Oyster shells are the butterfly shells
I am excited to see the extra maintenance that the proximity to salt water requires.
Love your selection of music.
My home state -Padre Island, is more shells where Galveston more sandy.
Nice. I have family in the San Antonio area and I've visited South Padre Island several times. Always a nice beach day!
Merry Christmas Mike and Kerry,🙏🌹👍🎄🎅 Happy Trails

For best taste always boil ocean creatures in salty water! Clean ocean water if you can, or water with the same level of salt as the ocean!
Looks like y'all had a blast! We always called the butterfly shells periwinkles and the large thin broken one we called sea pens.
Beautiful beach and 🐚👍

The big one you found on small shell beach was a crab shell
Awesome! I love the way you capture wildlife! You are doing great. Your videos are all entertaining as well as informative.
