    The best TV police show ever. Amazing stars and well written stories. And the best part was Jerry Goldsmith's theme music. It introduced me to Jerry's work which I followed for years until his death. The greatest film composer of all time. Look up the list of his movie scores. Just amazing.

    I didn't become a cop until 1983, but no other writer is able to capture this essence like Joseph Wambaugh. I heard his name mentioned while in the academy, and he was different than Michael Mann, in that he actually worked as a sweet cop with LAPD. It's immense feelings of nostalgia watching this, because my dad was a cop till the age of 83, when he passed, and my mother's dad was a Capt Detective, who helped hire my dad as a cop in 1953. Throughout all my life, all I ever knew was the life of a cop. As it turned out my brothers, and I are still cops. This is why I don't understand these new extremely young cops, who can't separate themselves from capitalism & public service. You can never think you're gonna be rich from being a cop, you have to embrace that you do it because you actually believe that you must protect & serve utilizing the color & spirit of the law, the best you can hope for is that you left a positive legacy for humanity & you'll be buried with your uniform, and bagpipes. I started when I was 19, I'm 52 but I can't seem to let it go, I kept away from supervising, and stayed in shape, so that I could walk the beat for as long as I can. If the keepers of the pearly gates allow me in, I know I'll be walking the beat there as well. Now I stay right above the poverty line, but I've got my oldest about to finish Harvard law, and my 18 & 19 year old finishing next year at UT Austin, and working towards PhD, or JDs, just like their oldest brother. I only wanted to make enough to send my kids to Ivy league schools. It helped that I always made extra money & teaching "OFF DUTY" at the academy, plus I always worked off duty jobs, till this day. If I don't get pushed out by young folks I'll keep doing what my grandfather, father, and brothers & cousins have always done, "pushing" a black & white. Where there is sheep, there will be wolves, thus there must be sheepdogs.

      I went to college at 17, then got a job as a cop, but I always thank service men & women for their service to their country. I did 22 years in Laredo Sector US border patrol, stabbed 3 times shot once in 1993 , and 7 times in 2003, (NO VEST) and to this day I see people hate law enforcement? Maybe we deserve it? I never got days off for any internal affairs division investigation, but I my mother signed in 2003,a document for 30 days off w/o pay while I was in intensive care, It was 106 degrees in Laredo,Tx, and I did violate the border patrol policy , I was just a canine handler for 11 years. After 33 years I can't say I contributed to anything, except always stayed clean, and fought my own fights by myself, without Internet propaganda that I see today.
      The facts indicate that old, good cops are retiring early, because on every stop there's several Utube cameras in your face, along with Utube attorneys, self proclaimed experts on the Bill of Rights. I haven't retired because of my 3 kids in college, plus I don't know how to do anything else except be a public servant.

      @tomswinburn1778 7 лет назад +7

      Dutch, the thing you gotta remember is that the cop haters are the ones who get the press. For every one of them there are a hundred who support cops. We don't get the press because we aren't controversial and don't sell papers or TV news. When a cop dies in the line of duty you can then see the support of the public. You see them lining the overpasses on the funeral route, stopping for the procession, and commenting on sites such as this. Things are NOT always as they seem. Because the press tends to be anti-cop doesn't make joe and jill sixpack the same. It's a two way street. Most cops are in favor of citizens arming themselves and learning to defend themselves and their families. Cops KNOW they aren't able, because of staffing shortages to be there whenever they're needed. It ain't their fault, and we the public realize that. We also are aware that most cops do what they can. Finger in the dike time. Most often at best cops pick up the pieces. But there ARE times, like 9-11 or an active shooter episode when cops are absolutely critical to public safety. Most know that, even if they don't often say it. I'm saying it now.

The young woman is Diane Baker. 20 years later she plays the senator whose daughter has been kidnaped by the psycho serial killer in Silence of the Lambs, and whose suit was complemented by Hannibal Lecter in Memphis (Oh, Senator... Excellent quality upload!. Every episode is well worth watching. Seems today's shows could learn alot from classics like this, oh and was that a young James Cann wearing the yellow outfit by the car talking to the cop about slow boy. Ask cause looked like him and adds more talent to this already talented lineup of actors ✌️

    Great episode and great show. Nothing today even remotely compares to these 1970's programs. The acting and writing are off of the charts. Thanks for uploading........I do have to say, at 1:17:10 she has one heck of a nerve just ripping her daughter away from her dad. If he was a bum, that would be one thing. But he's very established in his daughter's life. It would be pure evil for that mother and a judge to do anything to interrupt that in any way. Trying to rationalize her daughter will be better off having the mom's new stud adopt the little girl, what a selfish scumbag she is. That mom couldn't care less about her little girl and the relationship with her dad. And if the dad was trying to pull the same stunt on his ex wife, I'd say the same. Rarely is the kid's best interest really taken to heart. It's the idiotic whims of the adults who screw up these kids for life. The hate their exes more than they love their kids. Thank God the laws are much more fair now.

    R.I.P. Vic Morrow still one of the great ones, a man in the whole sense of the word. Mauled by the blades of a chopper, a bad idea from some whimsical director a fifth of mr. Morrow's manhood.

    This is/was great for many reasons. Here's a couple.
    You get to see TV's "THE RIFLEMAN," the moral, upright Lucas McCain (Chuck Connors), play a total degenerate, homicidal, piece of garbage, and seeming to enjoy doing so.
    The great location shooting provides a time capsule view of the Middle-to-East San Fernando Valley from almost 50 years ago --- Sherman Oaks, Studio City, Toluca Lake, etc. Much of it has changed, while some of it hasn't.

    • @jackcovey1832
      @jackcovey1832 4 года назад +1

      Oh, and Connors' villain abandoned a cigar during the final robbery, leaving his DNA at the crime scene ... not that it mattered, as it turned out.

    • @jamesanthony5681
      @jamesanthony5681 3 года назад +3

      I would add another reason.
      It was one of the first cop shows to portray cops as real people - husbands, fathers, brothers, work colleagues, etc. - and all the attendant personal issues that they brought with them to their jobs.

    Vic Morrow Ed Asner Chuck Connors Harry Guardino and Ralph Meeker wow what a freaking cast. If I'm not mistaken this pilot was emmy-winning. just don't make television like this no more. I always enjoyed Hill Street Blues in the '80s too. Nothing's really any better than Colombo though. Sad thing about police story episodes you just don't see it on TV ever!!!! It's been so long since I've seen it episode on TV I think it was the early 90s. It's a damn shame. I guess there may be some TV apps out there that show it not Pluto or Tubi.
