🤔 Hey, ParkNotes, newbie to the journaling/pen and paper hobby here. I want to express how timely me discovering your videos has been. Instead of easing the pain through doom-scrolling on social media or Netflix, I've decided to get really uncomfortable and face the tragedies of life head on by writing all of it down. Nothing will change the pain of losing my love, but the way of pen and paper has provided an outlet for me to grieve well. Thank you for your videos and the passion behind them!

🖋️📓Parker, you’re filling a huge gap on RUclips. You created the channel I wish I had started! You’re like the little brother I never had. Amazing. Never stop!
Parker! For years I've been trying to develop the habit of journaling. I've had multiple apps, with and without daily prompts, I've bought every journaling / diary-book concept known to man, and I've written two or three sentences in at least 20 different non-aesthetic looking physical notebooks. I love reflecting when out on walks, but never managed to really start taking notes. A sentence in Notes here, a recording of my voice there, but never something of true value that stuck with me. I KNEW getting the habit to stick would do me good, but never managed to do so. Then I came across your channel in june. For whatever reason, your representation of notetaking really hit me. Since then, I've written every single day in my journal, I bring a small "catch all" to work and elsewhere (it's been magical!), I bring a small "field notes" with my on both walks with my dog and when hiking in the mountains of my hometown (Norway, hey!), and I sit down with a physical notebook to take notes whenever I watch something on RUclips or read an article. In short; it's become a life changing habit in weeks. My favorite time of day. I've also deleted Instagram and FB on my phone, and hardly ever visit the sites at all. All I want to do is either sit down and journal, take notes while reading or watching something interesting, or to go for a walk some place I can find solitude, so that I can sit down and write, contemplate and reflect. All this because of your way of presenting and talking about the art of note taking and pondering. And perhaps also due to your pretentiousness while doing so ;-) Thank you!

📓🤔 Thanks to you I started, during this April, to collect my thoughts in a Journal. It is truly incredible how the experience of writing can become a real moment of recollection, similar to meditation. Thank you for your advice 💪🏼
📔 Journaling for many years. Naturaly moved from a diary style into what is no partialy commonplace and writing through my thoughts. Leaning into philosophy. Enjoy your chanel. 🖋
📓 🖋️. Journaler here. I diary each day, usually before bed, to unpack my day and quiet my thoughts. I have a box full of Field Notes books and use them to parse out various life focuses. I ditched the digital variants and have found returning to paper and pen much better and much more focused. Plus I get to use my fountain pens more. I’ve journaled off and on ever the years but have gotten more focused with it in the last couple of years. Time to get the philosophical side of things more organized and these are great prompts. I fall more in the eastern philosophy/religion view of things but have never put these views in a cohesive, singular format. That starts today.
🖋 So the question I'm most interested in exploring is #4 on human nature. I've been reading a bit of St Augustine and his discussion of the state of nature and its inherent goodness that is then corrupted, and its something that resonated with me, so it's something I'll probably expound upon. I've really been spending more time doing this kind of thinking and your videos have helped a lot with that, I look forward to more, and will be implementing a lot of these things just to help me clear and center my mind, as these kind of deep thoughts help me refine my faith and the things I believe far better than any random teacher might. Thanks again!
Parker -- 68yo Newbie here. Tried journaling a couple times, hard to organize my thoughts. These questions are deep, but vital…Thanks for giving me something to think about. Not getting any younger. Time to get started if it’s important to me, and it is.
I journal and creative journal daily, but sometimes the day's exhaustion puts a block on what flows from pen to paper. Thanks for this! Adding it to my intentions list for July to help me navigate those blockages.
📓. Send more prompts like that. I love them. I rediscovered my faith lately (currently reading the ecclesiastes) and i'd like to journal more about the scriptures. I adore your philosophical video, and I would like to see one video to emphasize on Christian prompts and one (another one ) on philosophy. Thank 🇨🇦
I would love to see you do a video on using a journaling Bible! It’ll be very fun to see how you think philosophically and theologically with the text of scripture
🖋 Great video! Love your content. The set up with the outline right infront of you is so neat and clean. Your ability to help trigger people's creativity and learning growth is awesome. Thank you for what you do.
📓 Very timely. I just started a fresh A5 notebook today with the intent on using it as a place for soliloquies, collected exegesis on various texts as they relate to my developing/evolving worldview, and meditations on how to approach epistemology in regards to it all. I've been trying to clarify what exactly I want to expound upon and the 7 questions gave me some great ideas. Perhaps that sounds like a lot, but to me those methods make sense as how I've attempted to tackle these questions haha.
📓🖋️Hi Parker, I just wanted to say hello to you. I find your content and approach to writing fresh and inviting. As a fellow philosopher I just wanna congratulate you for your passion and hard work spreading the spark of thinking and the invitation to questioning ourselves. Greetings from Mexico. 🇲🇽
📓✒️I started back in early 2019 (because of Arthur Morgan) as a basic diary. It keep evolving and now has a calendar at the front, a to do at the back, a full permanent FYI section attached as a thin a5 supplement and there's a full set of index, futures based off Ryder's bullet system, Maurice move's project management system, as more of a flowchart, a separate monthly stat tracker based of Elsa Rhae's system, and basic formats of reflection and highlights. It's turned into my most important tool. I think that's the point. Just start slow and slowly start modifying your system based off what you need it to be
Going into inner reflection- mediative can be overwhelming if your are not " grounded" - meaning having a hold on present realty. Its blows your mind and may cause confusion of existence.
📔 I somewhat fuse diary and journal. There are days when I'm just working with thoughts, then there are days where I write about events, then that takes me into thoughts and exploration. I have a couple different notebooks with different purposes to try and keep things from getting too mixed up or bogged down, but my pocket notebook catches a ton of stuff that is humorous to look back on. I'll have a note about serial killers for a story idea I have, then immediately after is my note about better phrasing for my thesis statement., for example. Otherwise, the larger notebooks have specific purposes. One notebook per class, for example. I also have a "drop in journal," which is basically the desk version of my pocket notebook. 🖋
Subscribed for the moustache. Content is a nice second. I'm a sociology major, looking to get back into just reading, thinking and writing on my own time. I do leather working, have done MMA, and love tattoos. Your channel is oddly, and welcomingly specific lol. Looking forward to diving into more
I actually use mine the same way! Something chewing at me and I need to think it through. Lots of times I'll just note it in my pocket notebook and then when I have time (or energy cuz that's a big part of it) I'll finally sit down and work it through
🖋Journaler here, I usually use notebooks for different purposes, for example one for poetry and stuff like that, other one as a collection on some thoughts about things that occur to me, and a journal for everything like research, what i think about some stuff, a bit like using twitter
🤔 I've been hooked on the idea of having a sort of "second brain" by which I can observe and study it, and journaling is the best way to do it I guess.
🤔 Hello Parker. I have been writing my diaries for the last 3 months. I have not journalled yet. I am willing to try journalling next. But only now I have built the habit of writing diaries. So I think it will take some time. I started after seeing your video 3 months before.
Lovely video as always! I have a question. What is that leather thing that helped the pages stay in place at the beginning of the video? Where can I get one? Thank you very much! 🤝🎩💯🏛
📓Park Notes, My Journaling has evolved through the years since I was in high school that is when it began. But I don't consider myself a Pro by any means. I love to learn everyday and improve and I feel like Journaling & Common Books has helped me do that.
🖋️Good set of questions to become explicitly aware what you are thinking and why. I like explicitly the options there might not be a purpose. Also interesting to ask: must existing have a direction or purpose in order for it to be meaningful? The question of truth, specifically where is the demarcation (if any) between relative and absolute truth is a very important one. Positive channel vibe, be conscious about what you think and unraffle what you think you think and how you act, that's something I find myself very useful; specifically the delta
📓🖋 Love this video! Looking forward to re-watching and working my way through some (all!) of these prompts More like this please, especially with recommendations of stuff to read around each prompt. Thanks!
First of all thanks you for all your hard work 💖🙏🏻 Second can you pls make a video about your daily routine and how you can minmalest the distraction ❤
📓🖋 Great content keep up the good work! Probably the one I will be pondering about more is "What is truth" - especially in the time of AI this is something fundamental we should reflect on.
📓🖋 I've missed this video somehow. Over the years I've written about some of these questions in part. It will be interesting to see how it goes now. Also I personally don't see the distinction between a Journal and Dairy. The closest I get to just writing about what happened in a day is if it prompted some deep thought or strong emotions that need unpacking. It very quickly becomes more about philosophy and my worldview than what ever happened.
Park is that pen that was just above your journal a fountain pen? Mont Blanc? Great video as always. You got me back into Philosophy after years of graduating with a collegr degree in Philosophy.
📕Haven't made an entry since February but I guess I'm making one now. Started with logging workout sessions and then moved on to answering questions. Come to think of it, this journal has been used intermittently for a while now; I have entries dating back to 2015 and minimum 2 or 3 entries a year, with a few more some years than others. 🖋
✒️ Keep up the great videos, could you make a video on what to journal about? Also how to come up with a prompt and how to start it. That would be awesome! Anyways, have a great day!
📓Have been experimenting a lot with both keeping a diary and writing a journal for the past year or so. I'm currently keeping a daily diary, a weekly journal/diary combo, and a separate journal for just random thought output without a set schedule. My dilemma is trying to balance them all, because I feel they all have a place in my life, but also can become a tad daunting to keep up with.
I like this! Especially the random one without a schedule. You can triage your use of each one this way and fill them at different paces. Daily doesn't always mean more important, just a different function, I gotta remind myself
I tend to write about my experiences and all my analyses and thoughts regarding them, as well as existential epiphanies I have and any progressions on my view of society and the world based on my experiences and new things I’ve learned. Based on your description of journaling and diary keeping, would you say it is more of a journal or a diary?
🖋📓One thing I personally struggle with when examining my world/life views is I feel like everyone has already thought of everything. Like every thought I have ever had already fits into preexisting theory, far better articulated than anything I could add to the conversation. I've sort of come to the conclusion that it doesn't matter, because writing is fun! even if everything I come up with is inevitably doomed to be derivative lol!
Love the prompts! And just to be annoying (and maybe a little bit helpful).... I take it someone already brought this up, but following etymology, a 'journal' is a daily recount of events. The Daily News is called Journal in French and Journaal in Dutch. It comes from the French word Jour, which just means Day.
🖋The last question is the one that I will be writing about. I read every morning one different subjects and just write about what I spent time reading. It works for me and to me that is what journaling is. What works for you is how you journal. Have a great day.

FWIW, in the UK, a diary is just a planner/calendar.
Great video. It got me thinking a bit more deeply about my faith. 🖋️
Wow that's awesome! Thanks for sharing that
🖋 Definitely going to get my fountain pen primed and think through some of these questions. Great video idea!
Let's go!!
Oh man I love your Chanel thanks for your content ❤📓📓📓
🙌🙌🙌🙌 so glad you like it!

Love this video! Looking forward to re-watching and working my way through some (all!) of these prompts
More like this please, especially with recommendations of stuff to read around each prompt. Thanks!
🖋️📙 I've just found your channel and I wish I found it sooner!
🤔🖋 I really like these prompts. Gonna use them as part of my routine.

First of all thanks you for all your hard work 💖🙏🏻
Second can you pls make a video about your daily routine and how you can minmalest the distraction ❤
📓🖋 Great content keep up the good work! Probably the one I will be pondering about more is "What is truth" - especially in the time of AI this is something fundamental we should reflect on.
Totally! Thanks for the encouragement!
🤔 looking forward to the journey
🙌🙌🙌
🖋Thanks Parker! I feel like majority of my world is framed by Thomistic metaphysics, so these are good questions to ask.
🙌🙌🙌 let's go! Perfect!
I have been journaling for 2505 days in a row. as of today.

Thank you
Park is that pen that was just above your journal a fountain pen? Mont Blanc? Great video as always. You got me back into Philosophy after years of graduating with a collegr degree in Philosophy.

I'm still trying to get the hang of it and I've been journaling for about 3 years on and off so i need some tips😅📓
🖋Haha
💪💪💪
I like this! Especially the random one without a schedule. You can triage your use of each one this way and fill them at different paces. Daily doesn't always mean more important, just a different function, I gotta remind myself
📓🖋 What does it mean to live a good life? What can I do this month to direct my life towards what I define as a good life. Great stuff as always!
I tend to write about my experiences and all my analyses and thoughts regarding them, as well as existential epiphanies I have and any progressions on my view of society and the world based on my experiences and new things I’ve learned. Based on your description of journaling and diary keeping, would you say it is more of a journal or a diary?
Don't know how emoji on phone. I've journal/diary/log for close to 50yrs. My great grandpa started me. Here for curiosities sake.
🖋️ i’m late to this one but catching up on it as I’m up late tonight
🙌🙌🙌
🖋📓One thing I personally struggle with when examining my world/life views is I feel like everyone has already thought of everything. Like every thought I have ever had already fits into preexisting theory, far better articulated than anything I could add to the conversation. I've sort of come to the conclusion that it doesn't matter, because writing is fun! even if everything I come up with is inevitably doomed to be derivative lol!
The free will question, made me want to watch more park notes videos. Now I no longer believe in free will 😂 (jk)
Thanks!
🙌🙌🙌 thanks so much!!
Great video parker
Please make a video on book recommendations of year 2024 plzzz love from india
🤔 what spiritual, psychological benefits may i get by maintaining a Journal?
Love the prompts! And just to be annoying (and maybe a little bit helpful).... I take it someone already brought this up, but following etymology, a 'journal' is a daily recount of events. The Daily News is called Journal in French and Journaal in Dutch. It comes from the French word Jour, which just means Day.
🖋The last question is the one that I will be writing about. I read every morning one different subjects and just write about what I spent time reading. It works for me and to me that is what journaling is. What works for you is how you journal. Have a great day.
GREAT VID!!!! 🖌
