This song has been a glaring omission from my channel since I started it three years ago. It finally felt like the right time.
"Skyline Pigeon" is one of Elton's earlier songs, having originally been released in 1969 on his debut album 'Empty Sky' (this was before 'Your Song' had even become a thing!) Although not a hit (except in Brazil!) the song is a fan favorite and was also a favorite of Elton's, becoming a staple of his solo piano shows since the 1970s.
I don't want to go too much into what this song means to me, it's too much to talk about and at times the song is too emotional for me to listen to. But know its one of my top 3 favorite songs of all time, and one that is deeply...deeply personal to me.
