Oh my gosh! Gary and Ruth, I love you two so much I could hug you from a million miles away! ❤ I just found your channel, website and books today and I am blown away by all you've done about this insidious problem going on in our work environments everywhere! All the work you've done is just miraculous, so VITAL to our HEALTH and so very much needed! Bless you two and your teams throughout the years for this incredible foundation of support and VALIDATION that you provide targets and the people trying to help them. Bless you and thank you! We can never stop fighting! 💕💕🙏

I am losing work today, because of how I was treated yesterday at work, well, more like for a while. I need my job, but I am needing to take a day off so that I don't humilate myself by crying or becoming upset. I was fairly good at my job but my co worker is just too popular for me to overcome. No one else succeeds in this department either, or won't work in there. Now I know why. Well, it can feel like your career is possibly ruined. And that's a scary feeling, especially when all a person is doing is trying to do a good job. And works hard to achieve something positive just to have it taken away by someone who feels like it. I know how this feels. And my coworker had done this to many people too. 😒

Yep thanks for your great work and for referencing Tim Field and Andrea Adams' work. What Tim wrote about the 'Serial Bully' is so true. I encountered one some years ago and it was exactly as he described. Good that we re vigilant against gaslighting now because it s a real problem.

I’ve just rediscovered this RUclips Channel. I’ve yet to listen to the latest videos but.. This video of yours I link below, is absolutely SO VALUABLE!!! Thankyou!! I’ve received and felt so much blame for not being more assertive, even when I have have asserted myself in every job and was just out numbered, and totally taken for a fool, because I was so sincere and conscientious.. I look back in horror, but still don’t know how I can find a workplace or boss where I’m not used.. I did learn at last myself, the things you described there and soon did a don’t assert, don’t engage policy and as soon as I realised the toxic dynamic I’d put my head down and start lookkkg for a new job..
It’s amazing you liken it to domestic violence, that’s so accurate. I’m fact I have had major problems with domestic violence and stalking too. BUT to hear one person, you, describing it all accurately, is a real blessing 🙏🏻

Thank you for your work. I have been bullied so many times in a so called professional environment that I have lost count. I am confident, competent, attractive, well-liked by clients and colleagues and generally quite good at what I do. Apparently these qualities make me a target to these malevolent characters. Pathological jealously. Or something. I have recently quit yet another position. I know I will bounce back, but jeesh. I am starting to think that all organizations are actually socially sanctioned dictatorships. No thanks.

I found Bullying In the Workplace at the public library after taking a sick day to try and get my bearings in the midst of 2 years of workplace bullying. I'd never heard of the phenomena, but your book was just page after page of, o m g, this is a thing? This is exactly what's happening to me!

You have such a wonderful supportive husband! In my opinion, a loving husband doesn't want you to work a job you hate. And to stand up for her! Wow!
And he seems like he's a Christian, maybe (hopefully), because, he used the phrase "hoppin' mad" as if he never usually uses bad words. Really cool.

“She’s done this to many people”. I’m going through a similar situation, I felt very alone and isolated, once I complained and left the company HR then reached out to me. I had a suspicion I wasn’t the first, but it seems to be a long list. I was told I could reapply with the company since I resigned.

So funny that when she was supposedly doing everything wrong, her employment was not in jeopardy, but when she told the bully she was done pulling her crap, she was fired.

Im very sad that I just learned of Ruth and her husband today. I live in Washington and my sins live in Bellingham, I was hopeful to have a community near me. I looked Ruth up and found out she 0assed in 2022. What a beautiful soul. The world lost an angel of light for us all.

Ruth is still very much with us in 2023. And yes, she is a beautiful soul. Btw, we are no longer in Bellingham. Loved our 14 years there.

I've been bullied for years. I tried going through the proper channels including hiring an attorney. I recently tried to kill myself and was in A&E for a while. It only gets worse. There is no advocate assistance for targets like me.
