This is a very impressive result. I suppose making a custom physics engine from scratch is really hard. I am curious about a few things though:
- Does the engine support rigid constraints between the masses, or does it only deals with springs and damper?
- Is it a local or global solver?
- At what frequency does the physics engine work (at least in this demo)? I have been following AngeTheGreat for quite a while and I remember him mentioning that some physics engines sometimes have to run at really high frequency to be stable/accurate (for exemple, his runs at ~475Hz and beamNG's runs at ~2000Hz, which is mind-blowing).
frequency varies from 1000 to 2000Hz

Honestly that looks awesome, it really is very similar to advanced BeamNG's crash physics but the fact that it works on smartphone blows my mind! It also makes me wonder why BeamNG devs can't optimize their game well enough even for PC?🤔

Beamng simulates to many things that a phone would immediately explode trying to run it

Very nice, the softbody systems for Unity that I tested years ago were really bad and poorly optimized.
Are you planning to make versions for other engines, like UE5 or Godot?

No we don't use anything called "Truss Physics". Some people in the comments call softbody physics as "Truss physics", but I'm trying to explain that this is not a type of physics but simply one of the implementations.. We have our own decision.

@@creepsteep55 I'm working on it rn, far from finish I still have some things to implement, to what I have tested so far it is around 1.5x - 2x faster, but with the big benefit of being able to run asynchronously from unity main thread(jobs can't do that) you can expect even better performance compared to jobs
Please keep the game like this, no need to update it. If you update it, the game will be heavier and my phone won't be able to play it.

The non-updated jbeam engine in beam holds it back a lot. I’m seeing things like the roof for example bending so much more naturally than in beam, which creases perfect down the middle. Good luck on the development! Got something good here
