I had a cat who used to jump into the kitchen sink whenever I turned the tap on. He would bite the water coming out of the faucet. He also loved the garden hose. He was quite the character. I used to have to shut him out of the kitchen to do dishes.
My cat (Bless his soul he passed away yesterday) hated being outside when it was snowing but he always wanted to go out when it was raining and he loved it. He walked through puddles as if they didn't even exist and he would just make this small back twitch to get the rain off him.

I don’t know about the faucet business, but my cat often needs a front door and back door check on the rain situation. (But she might not be totally nuts because when the wind picks up, one side of the house is definitely wetter than the other.)

I notice that you can be in another room and she still uses her buttons to communicate. It must be so frustrating for cats lacking the ability to use audible language like their humans, we know their meows are their way to attempt to communicate with us, but that doesn’t give them a large vocabulary. My cats use the, “find Mom and yell at her until she follows me”, kind of communication. Which is then followed by the, “make Mom guess what I want” and the, “no, that is wrong, I will go get Dad”. Oh, of course, Billi believes you can fix the weather outside, I am sure she understands that you adjust the thermostat indoors; my petite Siamese mix knows the sound of the furnace and races to lay on the register to get warm. Likewise, my house panther (a previously feral sleek black Siamese mix) loves his open window, but seems to appreciate food, shelter and all the amenities we can provide.
Sometimes cats will develop a reasonably developed vocabulary of vocalizations and body language. I can tell, generally, what a certain meow means for my cat (her name is Patina). For instance, I've noticed that a staccato "yip" is always a demand, something to be heeded this instant. Other qualities determine what the demand is. A very high pitched and somewhat breathy staccato yip indicates Patina's desire to hop onto my lap, so I need to sit back NOW to allow access.
Mine uses a combination of meows and "pointing" behavior. She'll meow to get our attention, and then nod at what's bothering her, which can be anything from a shingle blown off the roof to her empty food bowl.

Ok her body language mixed with the buttons just slays me. LOL
There's no doubt.. she knows exactly what those buttons mean
This cat is starting to blow my mind. If they are really this smart I may have one that is indeed plotting an unfortunate accident for me. 🧐😐
It does somewhat depend on the animal. In general, though, I think animals are smarter than most people give them credit for.
@@FirebladesSong One of my friends has a cat that is supremely dumb when it comes to everything but food. When it comes to food, though, he suddenly turns into a genius...
@@gyppygirl2021 lol... I've met a few people like that too
Just keep on your cat's good side and you'll be fine. I find treating my cat as a roommate makes us both the happiest (mutual respect), but treating a cat as THE BOSS also works.
@@spooniesarah 😆😓
Maybe "ear" wasn't a mistake? Maybe she could feel the vibrations of the sounds and it was another way to say "noise"? Or maybe it a change in ear pressure due to the rain? Or maybe it was just a mistake, I've no idea. haha
It seemed like a similar location to outside so likely a mistake since it never got brought up again while outside certainly did
Actually I took it more as a "Listen to me."
Who knows! I think it was just a mistake, but she might have been trying to tell me something I just didn’t pick up on. I’ve messed up enough times learning other languages that I always leave my mind open 😂
@@UnknownVir Oh true, I didn't notice how close it was to "outside".
@@BilliSpeaks Hopefully she will press "oops" more, but it's so impressive how clear the communication is already!
Billi does not want to get her little beans wet😅
Awwww!
I half expected her to race back to the board and press "mad" at the rain
You can actually feel Billie's disappointment when she walks up to the doorway.
I watched a number of times, and I think she meant to hit the 'ear' button. It is clear that she definitely knows the 'outside' button; could prob. find it in her sleep! I wonder if there was a different meaning there that we just haven't figured out... Love you both! Love that sweet little 'meow' at the end!
I'm absolutely addicted and fascinated by these videos of talking Billi!
this cat LOVES going outside and rushing back to talk about it
Such a smart cat!!
When she said "hmm?, yes" I think she was saying "why not yes?"
Billi is such a cute cat
Billi is so smart! I love her!!! 💗💗💖💖💖💖💖💖🥰🥰😍😍😻😻😻😻🙉🙉🙉💜💜💜💝💝💓💓💞💝💚❤❤❤💕💕💕💔💔💜💜💜💜👊👊👊🤜🤜🤛🤛🤛😋😋😋😘😘🥰
Billi says water is wet! 😁❣️
My happiness is watching this video and currently realizing one, the cat and hooman together are adorable, two- there are no dislikes on this video. And this makes me happy :)
"This is not the outside I requested. MAD."
I love your cat, she reminds me of how smart and what sentient beings they are. I believe we all take for granted what they are saying because its not being spoken in English and in at our frequency. However, if you tune your frequency to theirs, weather it be through buttons or just altering our own frequency to communicate on their level, the extra effort does get you learning eachothers unspoken language
Rain billi. Rain.
I was so ready for her to press “water” and “outside”
Human: See its raining
Billi: Can you make it stop?
Human: Wha...no?
Billi: *already at the mad button*
Billi: UGH! Look what your stupid outside did to me!
Give a cat the ability to complain that she's wet. The cat will not disappoint XD
I love that she took the time to train her kitty so that they can communicate and she will know what billi needs 🥺 so awesome
It's so interesting that she pressed "back" to comment on the fact that it got wet!
Did Billi just use the "ear" button to say "are you listening to me?"
Maybe!
*"Retreat"* - *"Retreat"* - *"Retreat"*
My pet rats were the same when I would put a little harness on them to have them outside. They'd be all curious about the smells then the second they get rain on them they're just "Human why? Why u do dis?"
I love that she told you she had water on her back 😹😻
Billi: "Mad" at "Outside", spring version.
Heard her meow for the first time ever since I've been here!
"Once again, this is NOT the outside I asked for! What is the matter with you, human, why can't you get it right?!"
this is the first time I've heard her voice! she has so many ways of expressing herself!!!
My cat seems to think it only rains in the front and not the back of the house
Billi should be made the representative of the cat world
Amazing, love watching this journey. Thanks for the work you put into Billi and production. Victoria, Canada.
She is so cute!!! She deserves more love!!!
She’s just the CUTEST!!! 😻😻😻😻
Back! Conversational old lady with her gripes 😂 Love it. I wonder if "ear" was an oops or she heard raindrops and associated with "outside" ? I love learning more about language acquisition from these videos! Kudos for doing this work with a feline! Such great content 😺
🤗🤗
I love billi. I suffer from chronic pain but seeing her makes me feel a bit better and smile 💖🐈
I’m so sorry you’re in pain 😢 I’m glad Billi can help distract you a bit!
Cats can understand cause and effect but I really doubt it understands the meaning of any of those buttons. It just knows if it presses the button, it gets attention. Anytving further seems to just be from confirmation bias
I guess we’ll find out once they publish the research paper! I’m leaving that up to the experts. Until then, I keep an open mind 🤗
She was giving you “the tail” at the end.
what a gift you are giving to cats and their friends and really makes you think about all animals and how arrogant we are as humans
Well of course you do...and she knows the weather is different outside every door too!
Her lil meow is sooo cute 🥺
Billie is always a delight
That's why my cat will sit under the eaves of the house, where she can be dry while she's outside while it's raining.
Billi is just so adorable ❤️❤️❤️.
I was kinda hoping she'd press mad and water 😂
Lol I love how you get a look in her brain and why she does each weird thing thanks to those buttons
So cute ! I like seeing more of your relationship, thank you ♡
