Sonic Lost World (Wii U): Any% Wingless Speed Run In

- There is still plenty of room for improvement in this run. There are several costly deaths and a few tricks that were not executed in this run, this serves mostly as a progress/example of what to expect out of a Sonic Lost World Any% Wingless speed run. The speed running community for this particular game decided on making two categories, Any% and Any% Wingless.
----Explanation of an Any% run----
In an Any% run, the run revolves around keeping your life count at 1 or 0 lives for the majority of the run. Whenever you die 5 times in a row or whenever your life count drops to 0, a wing capsule will appear in front of most of the checkpoints you respawn at. This is abused in an Any% run to skip sections in the interest of times. For example, in Sky Road Zone 1 you can take a death in the giant turtle section and then take a wing capsule all the way to the end of the stage. I will upload an Any% run some time in the future.
----Goals for the Any% Wingless run----
I have a strong feeling that this run can go sub 1:15, which is what my current (and maybe final) goal for this particular category will be. In the end I want a run that nails every significant trick and contains no deaths. Hehe, if people can 100% speed run Wind Waker or Paper Mario, I think Sonic can step it up to the 100% category! Someone was attempting a 100% run of Sonic Adventure 2 (All 180 Emblems), but sadly, it got no further than Story mode's Green Forest. Ah, I'm sure it'll happen eventually, but until then...Keep it up!

It's actually a lot easier than it sounds when you know some of the exploits like the power capsule exploit.

You mean Wave Ocean, Crisis City, Radical Train, and Kingdom Valley speed sections only? Heh, they're not too bad when you get used to them. I actually found them really fun personally.
Near-Flawless Run, but I did see a few mistakes.

Silent Forest Zone 2: (47:18) Bad Jump caused being caught
Silent Forest Zone 2 (Boss): (48:09) Mistimed homing attack
Silent Forest Zone 4: (52:02) Bad collision fall
Lava Mountain Zone 2: (1:11:46) Mistimed double jump
Lava Mountain Zone 2: (1:12:00) Unnecessary Homing Attack? Or were you too far off track?
Excellent Job overall though! It's always nice to see a fast speed run through a game that most people call "slow". I could never do anything like this. :D

I thought this meant 1 minute, 19 seconds, and 22 miliseconds. Until Windy Hill act:1 ended. Then I realized this was a 1 hour, 19 minute, and 22 second speed run of the whole game. XD
1 minute and 19 seconds is a terrible speed run of the first level! LOL

I wonder if you'll do speedrun of PC version. It has a big difference - lack of circuses, but at the same time required animals are reduced.

Dam, This game looks fun. need a Wii U now.
The problem is that this game only *looks* fun. When you actually get to play it, the controls and level design, it is pretty frustrating. The objects and enemies placement are unforgiving, and the level layout is in a non-stop attempt to punish the player. Upon completing a level, instead of giving you a feeling of accomplishment, it gives you a feeling of "thankfully I made it through this bullshit". After you beat a level and already know what to expect and how to get it done, it gets more fun, though.

It's on pc. I bought it on sale thankfully. It's great and all but some levels are really hard and I got really frustrated at parts. The way sonic controls at times makes things worse.
One time when I was first going through the game on my own, hoping to go wingless the entire way through, I accidentally got the wing in Frozen Factory Zone 2, most likely due to the bigass snowball that I was controlling. I jumped, and was trying my best to avoid the wing as best as possible.

It means not using any wing items, it is explained more thoroughly in the description of this video.

why did you playthrough desert ruins 2 normally? dont you normally do something else?
I have to collect enough red rings to open up the Desert ruins circus before completing Dessert Ruins 3, otherwise I won't have enough animals to unlock Desert Ruins 4. This prevents me from being able to do the fastest strategy in Desert Ruins 2, however I'll be eventually implementing a different variant that doesn't save as much time but allows me to get enough red rings to have a net faster time overall. It has yet to be implemented due to how inconsistent I am at performing it, though with a bit of grinding out the trick I should be fine in the future.

How do you keep Spin Dashing?
On the wii u version holding down ZL after you spindash will allow you to constantly spindash if you're playing the 3ds version then I don't know about that one.
This rule also applies to the 3DS version:
After charging up the spindash let go of the Y-button and then hold the Y-button (while you spindash).

it's probably not as slow as it looks, but the design of the game and the cartoony visuals make this game look a lot slower than it actually is except the 2d parts, because those parts you actually are going pretty slow lol.... and I gotta say, I'm not a real fan of the look they gave this game. The level designs and the running/spin dash animation look like a joke.
You are really good. Anyway, to me, this is one of the worst sonic games ever made. Just my opinion.
I do think people toss around the label of 'worst ever made' too easily - it may not be as good as some, but calling it 'one of the worst ever made' in the faces of Sonic Genesis, Sonic '06 and other barely functioning productions? I can understand if you don't like it, but it seems a bit...overly harsh a judgement.
I said one of the worst. I havent personally played ALL Sonic games, but played and have watched most of them, and I think this one is in the group of the worse, considering we are reaching 2015 and technology and creativity are higher enough to do a fairly good game as Lost Worlds.
Valkary And again - it's kind of harsh to judge it as such - it may not be as good as others sure, but 'worst' in any regard I feel should only be reserved for those truly deserving of it. Something that barely works, is insanely boring to all or is insulting to people is something to be called 'one of the worst'. Something that's hit-or-miss that some enjoy and others don't doesn't really justify it - especially with how many Sonic games get that label unfairly applied. It's different, it's not for everyone but it can be fun, it's colourful, it's not really suffering from much in the way of technical issues compared to other games and it tries for some different elements to the story - even if it doesn't make the most of it. Sonic Genesis is a barely functioning port/remake of Sonic 1 with an absolutely broken physics engine, Sonic '06 is loaded with horrific technical glitches, incomplete content, Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric is loaded with technical issues, poor design choices, one-note characters and dull gameplay. These sorts of things signify 'one of the worst' in my opinion - not saying you have to like Lost Worlds, just saying that perspective is really needed on what's truly bad from things that aren't liked.
Valkary pls. one of the worst is pushing it, the game's above average. now if we are talking which ones you don't like on the other hand...
ArcadiaVyse I don't know this games cheap death and vague teaching of the clunky controls kinda ruins the experience and in return makes it one of the worst.
